00:00We did see that widen with Israel and Lebanon.
00:04We've seen them trading fire, of course, Hezbollah within Lebanon.
00:08So that conflict has widened out of Iran at the moment when we do look at things.
00:13But I just find it absolutely fascinating that 48 hours since the beginning of this war,
00:20Iran seems to have changed the rules of engagement in many respects, Rawia,
00:25because we've seen them initially say we're going to attack U.S. military bases if we are attacked.
00:33And now it's moved on to energy facilities.
00:36And I think this has become a lot of the chat today.
00:40What's happening?
00:41True, not just energy facilities.
00:43We have airports that have been hit here in Dubai, in Kuwait, in other also areas in the Gulf region.
00:52So definitely it seems that the escalation is actually happening.
00:58Things seem to be widening.
01:00The conflict seems to be widening, definitely compared to the weekend.
01:05Now, over the past 24 to 48 hours, as you've mentioned,
01:08Iran has broadened its response far beyond just the initial retaliatory strikes.
01:16They have moved from missiles and drones that target military bases, U.S. military assets in the region,
01:24to actually targeting energy infrastructure all across the Gulf.
01:30Of course, these facilities are central to global energy supplies,
01:35and therefore it has triggered a ripple effect and has caused also,
01:41we're going to talk about this, the oil prices to surge.
01:44But it is significant because for most of the conflict,
01:49strategic oil and gas infrastructure was mostly spared,
01:54but now we're seeing a different pattern happening.
01:58It's hard to say whether this is part of the initial plan that Iran had.
02:04It does seem that they've had a plan in place,
02:06because obviously President Trump has been threatening to strike Iran for a while now,
02:12and it seems that they did have a plan in place,
02:14just looking at their retaliatory response that came so quickly
02:18after the initial Israeli and American strikes.
02:21Whether this broadening and the sort of gradual escalation of targets
02:27and of the conflict itself by Iran,
02:30whether it's part of that plan,
02:32or is it a reflection of despair maybe,
02:35of their using everything that they have at this stage
02:38because of the damage that they've sustained due to the strikes so far,
02:44I think we're yet to see.
