00:05A dramatic rescue unfolded in the early hours of Monday morning when a body recovery team was
00:11forced to leap into the sea in waters known for saltwater crocodile sightings after their boat
00:17suddenly burst into flames. A seven-person team made up of civil defense responders, police,
00:24and a veteran crime reporter had been dispatched just over an hour earlier responding to a
00:29call about a body discovered near the Tanjung Arutiga coastal area. According to the reporter
00:35Junaidi Lajana, halfway to shore the engine broke down. When they tried to restart it there was a
00:41spark and it burst into flames. Moments later an explosion in the engine sent the fire surging.
00:48Six team members jumped into the water while the seventh stayed aboard the burning vessel to guard
00:54the body. Help arrived 40 minutes later and all six were pulled to safety.
00:59The body was transferred to another vessel. Two civil defense officials and a police officer
01:05sustained minor injuries. Police are expected to release a formal statement regarding the recovered body.
