00:05Welcome, fans, to 2K Sports' Tuesday night presentation of NBA Basketball.
00:11This is Kevin Harlan, joined by Greg Anthony and Clark Kellogg,
00:15with Allie LaForce reporting courtside.
00:18Looking now at some numbers for Rashawn Holmes.
00:22And in the last five games, he's made a bunch of hustle plays on the glass
00:27more than anywhere else.
00:30His rebounding totals in these games shows a dramatic increase from his numbers
00:35during the rest of the season.
00:37So the net starting five.
00:39Popo's tandem, Porter Jr. and Claxton.
00:42Guard spots filled by Demmon and Thomas.
00:45And it's Mann in at the three spot.
00:47We've got Keon Ellis, Rui Hachimura out there with Torian Prince.
00:52And it's Mitchell, and it's Holmes in at the center position.
00:56Possessions can't end until somebody grabs a rebound.
00:59Greg, two of the best on the boards are facing off tonight.
01:03They prioritize rebounding.
01:04And getting those extra possessions can really break a team's thrill.
01:09And with excellent rebounding teams play, everyone has to work a little harder to secure the ball.
01:15That is big time by Hachimura.

01:26And he's not going to miss that sort of an opportunity from deep.

02:20And you could feel that they were playing for each other.

02:24You know, Prince is far from just a shooter and penetrator, folks.
02:27I mean, this guy's got a nice feel for how to play inside, too.
02:31And Paxton throws it down.
02:33We've seen the lead change hands quite a bit in this one.
02:36And, guys, I think each team knows they can win this game
02:39just a matter who can catch that momentum.
02:42Now, here's Holmes.
02:44Can't hit from Swell.
02:45The shot's there for him.
02:47And he's got to take it.
02:48I don't care if he doesn't convert.
02:50That's a shot he has to continue to take.

03:18Well, the Nets trading this summer for Michael Porter Jr.
03:22And after playing a complimentary role in Denver with Nikola Jokic and Jamal Murray,
03:26he now becomes a focal point.
03:28He said he's not really a big city guy with all the traffic.
03:32But listen, he can expect plenty of crowding every time he touches the ball.
03:37He can heat up in a hurry, that's for sure.
03:40Hey, Shams, thank you very much.
03:42Here's man.
03:43Rui Hatchimura picking up that last basket.
03:46Here's Porter.
03:48Makes it off the glass.
03:49Porter's got 5 now.
03:51You've got to push Porter Jr. out of the paint because he's so skilled at capitalizing down there.

04:04You have to love these kinds of games scoring-wise.

04:31Again, the Nets for 2.
04:33Yeah, Thomas can spread his selection out on the floor, which keeps the defense guessing.

04:40And that one, good.
04:42And once he got to the 10, I think he was surprised to find himself that wide open.
04:47Well, this early, they should be showing a lot more energy on defense.

05:20I mean, he stayed with that play from start to finish.
05:22That's something we say about him a lot.

05:27It's a wide open look.

05:39Puts the D in a tough spot when you have a point guard who can throw it down.

05:45He really does put pressure on him.
05:47And, you know, guys, showing how dynamic a weapon he is for this offense.
05:52They feed off of that energy and ability to make plays.
05:55It gets them going.
05:57You know, that's not how you screen for your guys.
05:59But, ultimately, they still found a way to come away with the hoop.
06:03And Mitchell gets it to go.
06:05And of the last six baskets, five have come on the interior.
06:10This is just smash-mouth physical basketball, guys.
06:14Thomas, no luck.
06:15And on an open look like that, he's very gifted at making the weak coverage pay.
06:20That's good for Mitchell on the assist from Prince.
06:24Mitchell's got 11 points.
06:26Prince staying alert and dishing the rock there.
06:29Brooklyn's gone 3 of 5 from three-point land so far in the ballgame.
06:33And so, Jordy Fernandez decides to call timeout.
06:37He's going to take this chance to talk to his guys.
06:50Zaire Williams, he's checked in for Brooklyn.
06:52Martin comes in for Demmon.
06:55Well, some great passers have come into the league this season.
06:58Let's see which rookies are tops in assists.
07:01And you look at Demmon, an uncommonly gifted passer leading the league in assists.
07:06He's just ahead of his years as far as vision and recognition on the offensive end.
07:12A talented playmaker.
07:13He is only going to get better.
07:16Yeah, very unselfish.
07:17I mean, he has the respect of his coaches and teammates.
07:19They follow his lead, which is probably the highest compliment for any rookie.
07:25Now here's Thomas.
07:26Following the miss by Michael Porter.
07:29Williams, that's good.
07:30Their third three-pointer in a row.
07:33So, adjustment time for these guys.
07:35The defense has to make some adjustment here.
07:38James writes up.
07:40Mitchell outs out.
07:43It's good.

07:46And they're beginning to just flat-out fall apart defensively right now.
07:50Especially on the interior.
07:52Yeah, and that's four straight field goals now they've allowed from point-blank range.

07:59Look, when the defense leaves the mid-range open like that, you've got to punish them.
08:02Or they'll keep letting you shoot it.

08:16Guys, his consistency in terms of shooting has really helped them seize control.

08:31And you know, it doesn't matter how good your defense is on the perimeter if you're going
08:34to allow easy ones inside like that.
08:37Clearly, he's one of the best there is in the business when it comes to making that lead

08:48Well, constantly finding lanes to the basket.

09:38Plenty of offense in this closely contested first quarter of play.

10:08They came in with a well-conceived game plan and have executed.

10:12Makes it really easy for the coaching staff in that case.

10:23They defeated the Pelicans in their last game.
10:26Yeah, and with most of the arena against them,
10:29they just banded together and trusted one another to make the right play.
10:34Well, you know, the cohesiveness was evident out there.
10:37These guys feel like they can win in any arena,
10:40and they proved it that game.
10:41They've got James.
10:43It's Najee in at the five, down low.
10:46And for Brooklyn, Martin is out there with throw right.
10:49Then it's Zaire Williams.
10:51Then it's Sharp.
10:52And it's Clowney in at the fourth slot.
10:55The ball with incredible accuracy.

11:03They should continue to get the ball inside.
11:06The defense struggling to contain them.

11:10it also takes pressure off your perimeter, guys, too.

11:18I mean, the number of points they've scored in the paint already here,
11:21it is eye-opening.

11:30Off to a good start as he hits his first shot attempt.

11:35This defense needs to clog those lanes in the middle.
11:39Brownie, and he floats in for the easy two.
11:43Credit the assist on that one.
11:44And the crisp passing has opened things up for them offensively.

11:50That's very impressive.
11:51And it also makes the game easy and fun to watch.
11:54And I'm sorry, that's poor defense down low again.
11:57It's been a mismatch thus far in the paint.

12:04where they would get battered inside like they had.

12:35But after my injuries, it's like climbing the stairs.

14:23But as far as watching, the game for me is as good as it's ever been.

14:45With the voting as it is now, it looks like he'll miss out on a spot in the starting lineup

14:50Yeah, not even in the top ten, but it shouldn't take away from what he's done this year.

24:38I mean, providing an impressive knack offensively for a first-year player.
24:43Impressive for anybody at any age, too.
24:45I mean, he's been practically unstoppable at times.
24:48And now defenses are starting to game plan for him.
