U.S. President Donald Trump said on Saturday, February 28, that the United States had begun “major combat operations” in Iran, warning there could be American casualties.

Trump said the strikes are aimed at destroying Iranian missile capabilities and “annihilating” its navy. The action follows repeated warnings from the U.S. and Israel that they would launch further attacks if Tehran continued advancing its nuclear and ballistic missile programs.

“I do not make this statement lightly. The Iranian regime seeks to kill,” Trump said in a video posted on Truth Social.

Washington and Tehran have held several rounds of talks in recent weeks over Iran’s nuclear ambitions. The latest meeting took place on Thursday, February 26, and ended without a deal.
