Four cats survived a fire at a senior living complex in Jurupa Valley, California, after firefighters and a sheriff’s deputy carried out emergency resuscitation efforts.⁣

The fire, known as the Emma Incident, broke out on March 16 and displaced more than a dozen residents, though no people were injured. During search operations inside a damaged apartment, crews found four cats, three of them unconscious and not breathing due to smoke inhalation.⁣

Firefighters brought the animals outside and began rescue efforts, including chest compressions, mouth-to-snout resuscitation, and oxygen support. Additional crews and a Riverside County Sheriff’s deputy assisted as teams worked to revive them.⁣

After several minutes, the cats regained consciousness and were able to walk. All four survived. ⁣
