00:00Hello, I'm GameRetainer and in this video I'll be talking about the 2.6 update for 7 Days to Die.
00:07Now there isn't a fixed date for version 2.6, but since it's currently an experimental it should be released
00:12pretty soon.
00:14Now let's dive in.
00:16First, like I just said at the time of recording, this was an experimental so things in this video are
00:21subject to change.
00:23Second, if you're on PC and you want to try out the latest version for yourself, then you can open
00:28up Steam, go to 7 Days to Die, open up the settings and select Properties.
00:33From here, click on Game Versions and Betas and choose Latest Experimental.
00:39This will install the beta for 2.6.
00:42If you're wondering whether you'll need to start a new game for version 2.6, well, you don't need to.
00:48You'll be able to carry on with your current save file.
00:51The FunPimps do usually recommend that you start over, but with the exception of one thing that I'll mention shortly,
00:57you can just carry on as normal.
00:59There are quite a few little changes coming with 2.6.
01:02I'll read through some of them on here, but if you want to take a closer look for yourself, then
01:06I'll leave a link to the FunPimps website where you can read everything in more detail.
01:11Let's start by talking about dew collectors.
01:13Prior to this update, dew collectors just magically produced jars.
01:18Which I never really understood.
01:20But as of 2.6, you'll need to put jars into the dew collector to get it to start working.
01:26But that's not going to be a problem because you no longer need a crucible to make jars.
01:31As long as you have a forge, some clay and some sand, you can make jars with no issues.
01:37Also, dew collector slots have been increased from 3 to 9, so you're not going to need to empty your
01:42dew collector as often.
01:43One last thing about jars, the default refund chance has been changed to 60% as opposed to 0.
01:49But you can always change that percentage in the settings to whatever you prefer.
01:53The game stage modifier has been increased from 2 to 3 for the snow biome, and the game stage bonus
01:58has gone from 20 to 30.
02:00If you enter the wasteland, then those numbers have been changed from 3 to 5 for the game stage modifier,
02:06and 30 to 50 for the game stage bonus.
02:10Basically, the wasteland and the snow biome just got a whole lot tougher.
02:14And I mean, a lot tougher.
02:17This goes alongside an adjustment that will introduce radiated, charged and infernal chucks to the snow, and radiated, charged and
02:24infernal mutated zombies to the wasteland.
02:28By adding, I mean that you'll find these more often just roaming about in the wild.
02:33So, fun times.
02:36Zombie XP has been rebalanced based on their type, HP and damage, so you'll get more XP for killing Moe
02:42than you do Marlene because Moe's got more health.
02:44And this just makes sense.
02:46Zombie HP has been adjusted to be better in line with other zombies in their group.
02:51After spawning in various zombies, it looks like zombies of the same type now have less of a varied health
02:57bar size.
02:58I don't think it's going to be that noticeable, but, you know, it's a good change.
03:03The radiated, utility worker and businessman have been rebalanced, so they no longer inflict way more damage than the other
03:09zombies.
03:10I'm not sure why this was ever a thing, but I'm definitely glad it's been fixed.
03:15Radiated, charged and infernal mutated zombies now have an increased attack range, and their attacks now are just way more
03:21deadly than they were.
03:23To add to this, zombie bears and direwolves have had hearing and sight ranges increased.
03:29And bears will be able to fit through a 1x2 opening.
03:32So, these lubed up battle bears can now enter through your front door.
03:37The wasteland really is going to be so much more difficult.
03:40One last little fix with bears.
03:43They no longer hit you before they do the hit animation.
03:46This one was a pain in the arse.
03:49A bear had the ability to look at you, hurt you, and then perform the animation of hurting you.
03:54So, I'm happy to see that the Houdini bear issue's been solved.
03:58There is one feature that I'm going to miss.
04:01From version 2.6, you'll no longer be able to send small animals into the stratosphere with the ragdoll effect.
04:08This is great for getting more meat, but not so good if you like sending animals into space with a
04:12single blow.
04:14One change that I know a lot of builders are going to like is an improvement to terrain blending where
04:18topsoil is removed.
04:20Hopefully, this reduces the amount of strange gaps you have when you build your base.
04:25One other change that I think just makes sense is a change around harvesting materials.
04:31Prior to this update, if you wanted to gather plant fibre, wood, or stone, then you'd need to use your
04:37fist or an axe or any other harvesting tool.
04:41But from 2.6, you can use your weapon and you'll still get the stuff when you hit it.
04:45It might not sound like a big change, but you'll no longer need to switch from your main weapon to
04:50your axe to pick up plant fibre, wood, and stone.
04:52That's just a nice little time saver.
04:54The crawler and hazmat zombies have had their block damage reduced to be better in line with the other zombies
05:00in their group.
05:01I'll be honest, I didn't really notice they were causing more block damage than the other low tier zombies, but
05:06there you go.
05:07If it bugged you, it's fixed.
05:10The gyrocopter will now have 5 mod slots.
05:13I mentioned that there's one change that will impact you if you want to carry on with your existing save
05:17file.
05:18Well, this is that change.
05:20If you want to carry on with your save file from 2.5, you'll need to craft a new gyrocopter
05:24to get that extra slot.
05:26Player kill XP has been increased.
05:29I assume this is PvP related.
05:32And I don't really do PvP, but if you do and that's what this means, then that's good news, I
05:37guess.
05:38Enemy AI will now play an alert sound when they run away from an entity or being hurt.
05:45I'm assuming that this is for animals that try and run away when injured, but I could be wrong.
05:50I tried hunting down a few animals for science and I can't say I really noticed much of a change,
05:55but then again, I don't really pay much attention to things.
05:58Moving on, if you don't like making the bone knife to complete that harvesting animals challenge, you no longer need
06:04to.
06:05Harvesting the animal with whatever you've got on hand will complete that challenge.
06:10I mean, you get more resources when you use the right tools, but if you don't want to make a
06:13bone knife, then you don't need to.
06:16Finishing off, some of the medical challenge requirements have been reduced from 10 to 5, so you don't need to
06:21break your leg 10 times for that extra XP.
06:24Just five times, you'll need to break your leg now, so woohoo.
06:28There are a few other changes that are being made.
06:30These include the apiary fuel no longer being lost when you pick up an apiary.
06:35Issues surrounding removing vehicle mods have been fixed, and there's quite a few more little changes.
06:40Now, this update is nowhere near as big as 2.5, but similar to 2.5, I feel like overall,
06:47the changes in this one are another step in the right direction.
06:51If I've missed any other big changes, that's because this update has only just been announced, so I haven't had
06:56the time to fully try things out.
06:58But, like I said, if you want to read these for yourself, then I've put a link in the description
07:02below where you can see everything.
07:05But that's going to be it for this one.
07:06Thank you very much for watching, it really is greatly appreciated, and feel free to let me know what you
07:10think about this update.
07:12Thanks again for watching, and hopefully I'll catch you in the next one.
07:16Hello!
07:17If you're still watching, then I wanted to do a mini giveaway as a way of saying thank you for
07:21watching until the very end of the video.

07:31Thank you Funpimps for giving me this to give away, and thank you for watching until the very end of
07:35the video.
07:36It really is greatly appreciated.
07:38I know I say it a lot, but it's true.
