00:00This is not Iceland, it's not South Africa, and it's not New Zealand either, but it does have the
00:05wildlife those places are famous for with none of the crowds. This is the Falkland Islands and
00:09most travelers will never think about going here, but it's one of the most remote untouched wildlife
00:12destinations left on earth. If you're wondering where they are, the Falklands are 300 miles off
00:16the coast of South America. They're a little group of windswept islands in the South Atlantic,
00:19home to about 1 million penguins versus roughly 3,500 people that live across the whole archipelago.
00:24If you care about wildlife, remoteness, and seeing the natural world the way it used to be,
00:27you will love it here because nature is the main attraction. Most people get here on an
00:31expedition ship en route to Antarctica, or you could take a small flight from Chile into the
00:34capital of Stanley. From there, you can book small local flights to do some island hopping where you
00:38can hike coastal cliffs where albatross nests in the wind, experience uninhabited islands, and share
00:42white sand beaches with thousands of penguins. The landscapes here are wild and totally open,
00:46there are no fences or boardwalks, it's just you, the wildlife, and a lot of wind.
