00:00I am just doing my work because I have to be the change that I want to see in the
00:05world.
00:06My name is Mona Magno-Veluz. I am the National Spokesperson for the Autism Society Philippines.
00:12I am one of Smart Parenting's Game Changer Awardees.
00:16As a parent, I had my own challenges with my eldest son who is on the autism spectrum.
00:23But as he matured, I realized that he also has the right to self-determination.
00:29The Autism Society Philippines is 36 years old.
00:33What I am excited about moving forward is, of course, growing the programs that have had the most impact on
00:41our community.
00:42This would be the ASP Homepowerment, which is a program that assists parents in taking care of their children at
00:50home.
00:50This program helps out those who are economically vulnerable.
00:55Another program is called the ASP Autism Works Program.
00:58This program looks for inclusive employers so that youth on the spectrum who are job-ready can find their place
01:08in the workplace.
01:09Right now, we are helping legislators finalize the Autism Care Plan Bill.
01:15It means we want each and every government agency to have a plan to address the needs of families and
01:25Filipinos on the autism spectrum.
01:32Take care.
