00:00He had never been touched by humans, so he was incredibly afraid of everything.
00:12But then Cosmo crawled under the fence into the pasture where we had him and started
00:19nuzzling with him. That was how it started. A few rancers near here were attacked by mountain
00:28lions. So we were looking for a guardian dog for protection and also because I knew that
00:36they were a really good family dog. A shepherdess friend of mine had one female that wasn't getting
00:44along with the other dogs and she offered to give her to us. We later found out that she
00:51was actually pregnant. Look at that little head.
00:59Ursa had 11 puppies under our back porch and we all fell in love with them.
01:07But we could only keep one and our children named him Cosmo.
01:13Do you just want some extra bath?
01:15I just don't know.
01:18Then six months later, we rescued Baby Pinto from Kilpen the day he was supposed to ship
01:24the water. It was a little tricky getting him home because he had never been touched by humans.
01:31But then Cosmo crawled under the fence into the pasture where we had him and started nuzzling with him.
01:51Oh my goodness. They were both six months old and had the same playful puppy energy.
02:00Oh my goodness. Cosmo was just a really big part of Baby Pinto coming out of his shell and feeling
02:08safe.
02:09Baby Pinto would see how I would touch Cosmo and then he would slowly warm up to letting me touch
02:16him.
02:18And now he comes right up to you because he's just so curious and so friendly.
02:26It's really good to have a friend.
02:29When you've been through something really hard or frightening like Baby Pinto losing his mother and his herd and Cosmo
02:41letting go of all his brothers and sisters.
02:44You really need somebody else to help you, to draw you out and help you learn to play again and
02:51learn to feel free.
02:57Cosmo, what are you doing?
02:59Cosmo what's going on in the middle of the room?
03:03You really need to have a friend.
