00:00:00I am the best of the champions.
00:00:51Evening, all the action from the second legs of the Champions League playoff round on tonight's
00:00:56show. Loads of goals, plenty of drama. Places in the last 16 were up for grabs. Stephen
00:01:01Warnock and Nader Manua are with us in the studio alongside European football expert
00:01:06Rory Smith. Having lost 5-2 away against Galatasaray, Juventus had a mountain to climb in the second
00:01:13leg in Turin. Steve Bauer, watch this one.
00:01:16The quest for a minor miracle for Juventus begins. Only four times in 49 attempts have
00:01:24a team turn round the first leg deficit of three or more goals. Lucianes Belletti changes
00:01:30his goalkeeper as Mathieu Perrin replaces Di Gregio. Canadian Jonathan David is recalled
00:01:36to leave the Juve line. Former Fulham and Wolves midfielder Mario Lamina miss the first leg
00:01:42through suspension. He returns for Galatasaray tonight to face his former club.
00:01:49Four years since Juve made the last 16 of this competition. Never passed the quarter-final since they
00:01:57reached the 2017 final. So Ismail Jakobs has come across to launch the long throw. Off the head of
00:02:17He did his job. Square to Locatelli. Long way out. Forced a save from Shakir.
00:02:32Can't mind this to Yildiz. There's the cross. David couldn't get there. Can't say...
00:02:40Wow! Well, the majority of this stadium thought that was in. Let's see how close it was.
00:02:47Oh, it was curly, but not quite enough from the Portuguese international.
00:02:56And it's a Galatasaray free kick. And it's a yellow card for Lloyd Kelly. Which, should the miracle arise,
00:03:06would rule him out of the first leg. In the last 16. Yildiz.
00:03:16Rears again the Turkish international. Deflected! And a very good save. From Chakir.
00:03:23Well, watch the deflection here. Off Davinson Sanchez. It's a fabulous stop. But full stretch.
00:03:30They're just searching for that slice of luck from anywhere to get them going.
00:03:36Liverpool and Spurs will be watching this with interest.
00:03:40The winners will play one of the two Premier League teams.
00:03:45Cup winners can't get past Sanchez. But he's picked his pocket second time.
00:03:50Into David. Can Charam get there?
00:03:53Can't say so, can. And the referee's given the penalty.
00:03:58For the challenge on Charam.
00:04:02It's rare it was. Who came sliding in.
00:04:05This angle will show us. Yeah, he didn't get the ball.
00:04:08Well, this is a huge moment. The responsibility falls on the captain, Locatelli.
00:04:13Who's never scored a Champions League goal.
00:04:16He has now.
00:04:19And there's one of the one they need.
00:04:23They knew they had to score first. They have.
00:04:27And the levels of hope have been raised.
00:04:31The captain stepped up. 1-0 on the night.
00:04:35They've reduced it to 5-3 on aggregate.
00:04:47Roy Kelly.
00:04:49Roy Kelly.
00:04:50Who meets the foul.
00:04:53Oh, dear.
00:04:54Now, Roy Kelly's on a yellow card.
00:04:57And down went Yilmaz.
00:05:00And Xiao Pinero has decided that's a yellow card offence.
00:05:05And has produced the red.
00:05:08And Juve chasing the dream.
00:05:11Two minutes into the second half have been reduced to ten men.
00:05:16Now, the VAR referee has suggested to the referee to go and look at this.
00:05:23On the basis it's not intentional.
00:05:26And there may well be a reprieve here.
00:05:29The key here is at no point Lloyd Kelly is looking at the man.
00:05:33His eyes are firmly fixed on the ball.
00:05:37And he stayed with his on-field decision.
00:05:39Of yellow cards.
00:05:41Lloyd Kelly second.
00:05:43And subsequent red.
00:05:47Now, can the ten Juve players regroup.
00:05:51Channel their frustration in the right way.
00:05:56Jonathan David.
00:05:59Two runners in front of him.
00:06:00Locatelli switching play.
00:06:06Yildiz.
00:06:07Trying to cut inside.
00:06:11Well, the Turkish international is determined to score against the champions of Turkey.
00:06:18Look how close that was.
00:06:24Oh, that injection of pace has done the trick.
00:06:26And that could have gone anywhere.
00:06:28Deflected over off the captain, Bodaci, for a Juve corner.
00:06:31Look at that.
00:06:37Boger himself is going to take the corner.
00:06:40Lamina away.
00:06:44It's a Grover.
00:06:46Into Kalulu.
00:06:47Goalkeepers touched and turned in.
00:06:50By Gatti.
00:06:52They needed three without reply.
00:06:55That's two of them.
00:06:58A further injection of belief into the Juve veins.
00:07:05Shakir could only get a fingertip on it.
00:07:08And Federico Gatti scores just his second Champions League goal.
00:07:14And listen to the noise now.
00:07:21Locatelli.
00:07:23And Kenny couldn't find Boger.
00:07:28Kalulu with the interception.
00:07:33Chiram direct again.
00:07:34It's Chiram!
00:07:36Almost.
00:07:38So positive.
00:07:40So strong.
00:07:42Just couldn't apply the finish.
00:07:53It's a Grover.
00:07:56It's a Grover.
00:07:57It's got space.
00:07:58It's come through to Boger.
00:08:01Good cross.
00:08:02Oh!
00:08:03So close.
00:08:04For Yildiz.
00:08:06At full stretch.
00:08:09They were a whisker away.
00:08:11From levelling it up on aggregate.
00:08:18Yildiz.
00:08:19Trying to thread it through.
00:08:21To Boger.
00:08:27Pro eight.
00:08:28With a clearance as far as Kalulu.
00:08:31Right back.
00:08:32Propping up in the left wing position.
00:08:34He's been caught.
00:08:35Juventus free kick.
00:08:42It's a Grover's delivery.
00:08:44Coatman has got the first header.
00:08:47And McKinney got the second.
00:08:50The ten men of Juventus.
00:08:54Have drawn level and aggregate.
00:08:58And the dream lives on.
00:09:00They started the night.
00:09:02Three down.
00:09:03And they've got it back to all square.
00:09:06To take this tie.
00:09:08Into extra time.
00:09:13McKinney.
00:09:16Now Boger.
00:09:21Boger.
00:09:22Boger against Bowie.
00:09:23Into McKinney.
00:09:25And the follow up.
00:09:27From Zagrova is wide.
00:09:30What a chance.
00:09:32For Juve's fourth.
00:09:34Oh, he had the goal waiting for him.
00:09:38So much tension now in the air.
00:09:43Given away by Boger.
00:09:45Given away by Boger.
00:09:49Yilmaz.
00:09:50Oh, Ossiman.
00:09:52Oh, and he's rolled it in.
00:09:55Galatasaray's first goal of the night.
00:09:57And their aggregate advantage restored.
00:10:01In stoppage time at the end of the first half.
00:10:04In extra time.
00:10:06Ossiman's third career goal against Juve.
00:10:11Brings Galatasaray relief.
00:10:13They lead 6-5 on aggregate.
00:10:17Can they create one more big opportunity?
00:10:20Juventus.
00:10:22McKinney.
00:10:26Zagrova.
00:10:29Oh, and he tried to redeem himself in the first half.
00:10:31In it goes across.
00:10:33From the substitute Kostic.
00:10:35Anzic.
00:10:36They all threw themselves at it.
00:10:38Anzic, I think, was the closest.
00:10:40Brilliant from Zagrova.
00:10:42He was denied.
00:10:44By Chakir.
00:10:45And look at Anzic.
00:10:46With the outstretched leg who couldn't make any contact.
00:10:53There goes Zagro.
00:10:56Trying to thread that through to Ossiman.
00:10:58And Yilmaz has made absolutely sure that it is Galatasaray who go through to face either Liverpool or Spurs.
00:11:11They've got the job done in the end.
00:11:13But boy, did Juventus give them a real fright.
00:11:18They were so close to one of the memorable Champions League comebacks.
00:11:24But it is the Turkish champions who will advance into the last 16.
00:11:303-2 on the night.
00:11:337-5 to Galatasaray on aggregate.
00:11:37Well, what a game.
00:11:38Probably one of the games of the season.
00:11:41And amazing work from our editing team to get that out.
00:11:43Because it only finished about five minutes ago, didn't it?
00:11:46Juventus could have had a bucket load though.
00:11:48We'll come on to the red card in a minute.
00:11:50Yeah, they could have and they should have.
00:11:52They were superb from the get-go.
00:11:54Straight away into the game, you're thinking they could have gone 1-0 up after three minutes.
00:11:59And that was the start they needed to get the fans behind them.
00:12:02But it's Gatti at the far post who rises.
00:12:05And I think he should score.
00:12:06I think it's a great opportunity.
00:12:08I think it's whether he thinks the defender is just going to get a nick on it.
00:12:11But then Koopmein, as we know his ability to arrive in the penalty area,
00:12:16we're at good positions.
00:12:18But again, just leaning back ever so slightly.
00:12:20And then Yildiz on that left-hand side.
00:12:23The quality that he possessed all game.
00:12:25I think just in this position, he's just got to push it into the far corner.
00:12:28He tries to be clever, trying to drag it into this near post area.
00:12:32And this was absolutely brilliant from Chiram.
00:12:36He gets a little bit fortuitous as it goes through, but then tries to dink.
00:12:39And you're thinking, just pass it, just guide it into that far corner.
00:12:42When I saw it, I said, Harry Kane had passed that in.
00:12:45That's the difference in those moments, is calming yourself down.
00:12:49And then that back post area again.
00:12:50Yildiz was everywhere, wasn't he?
00:12:52He was, and he was superb.
00:12:53And they deserved more out of this game.
00:12:56When this was going on the game, before Galatasaray scored with Osserman,
00:13:01the XG for Juventus was 4.9.
00:13:06That was how good the chances were that they created.
00:13:09And then Zagrova here should do better.
00:13:12I mean, it's just one of those opportunities, but they dominated Juventus.
00:13:17They were fantastic.
00:13:18But then, obviously, losing a player was a huge influence on the game.
00:13:22But, I mean, by the end of it, their XG had gone up to 5.1 had Juventus.
00:13:29And although Steven showed a couple of chances that they had in the first half,
00:13:34it was almost as if, and I'll come onto the red card very shortly,
00:13:37but it was almost as if that red card fired them up before we get onto it.
00:13:41Yeah, it seemed to galvanise them as a team, didn't it?
00:13:42And I wonder whether the atmosphere changing,
00:13:44the sense of kind of Juve feeling the world against them.
00:13:47The second player in this tie they'd had sent off,
00:13:49they lost Juan Cabal in the first leg,
00:13:51and they had a sending off in the Derby d'Italia the other day as well.
00:13:55This is the first yellow card.
00:13:58Which is a yellow card.
00:14:00I think that's relatively sort of easy to say.
00:14:04And the second one Nedim's going to be wrong about.
00:14:07Just for the record, Lloyd Kelly thinks that one's not a yellow card,
00:14:10he thinks that's not a foul as well.
00:14:12But for this one, I think he's really unlucky, but I can see why he'd be sent off.
00:14:15I think as you look at that in real time, for the referees to see themselves,
00:14:18he's unfortunate in terms of where he's landed,
00:14:20but he's landed on the back of somebody's leg,
00:14:22and the force that's ended up going through the player,
00:14:24whether it's intentional or not,
00:14:26that doesn't necessarily come into the referee's sort of decision-making.
00:14:29I think the fact he went from yellow to red and then they got sent over to have a look,
00:14:32I think for some people that's probably the concern.
00:14:34But how can it be reckless or with excessive force?
00:14:40How can it be reckless if you aren't looking?
00:14:42And how can it be with excessive force if you are just coming down to land?
00:14:47I think that's what people are struggling with.
00:14:49And how could the referee not see that when he went to the screen and then decided to give him
00:14:54the direct red card?
00:14:55I think for me, when it comes down to it, for us as fans of football, people who play football
00:15:00and so on,
00:15:00we're looking at thinking he's not intended to do it, where else could he go?
00:15:03But for the referees, they don't look at the game through that lens.
00:15:06They see a very different game to the rest of us.
00:15:08So I think he's unlucky because that's gone very much against him.
00:15:11You know, it's like a potentially game-changing moment from, you know, for him towards his side.
00:15:15But I don't think there'll be many referees that will look at that and say that's not a red card.
00:15:18So you're looking at it from a referee's point of view?
00:15:21100%, yeah.
00:15:21But if it was you in that position and you're Lloyd Kelly?
00:15:24Lloyd Kelly probably, as Lloyd Kelly leaves the field, he doesn't even know what's happened.
00:15:27He thinks he's just landed and there's a player that's on the floor.
00:15:29But when you look back at it, someone will try and explain.
00:15:31They might try and appeal it.
00:15:33But in reality, it's not going to be overturned.
00:15:34I think, for me, that, from a referee's perspective, will always be a red card.
00:15:39I disagree, but I know where you're coming from.
00:15:41By the letter of the law, they'll say a different reason.
00:15:44But we can't do everything by the letter of the law.
00:15:47We can't, but the referees will, that's the point.
00:15:49This game cannot be always about the letter of the law.
00:15:52Surely there has to be some nuance.
00:15:54The issue is that, and it's in the VAR era, and we have to link that to it,
00:15:58is that we now kind of adhere to the letter of the law completely all the time.
00:16:03That's the idea. It's consistency, not common sense, that's fine.
00:16:06But so many decisions now seem to be out with the spirit of those laws.
00:16:10And I think to most fans, and I get your attempt to sympathise with the referees,
00:16:15and I look forward to your attitude to AI when it takes over.
00:16:19I think the problem is, for most fans, and speaking as a fan more than a former player,
00:16:24I think the issue is that most fans will see that and think,
00:16:26that does not make sense.
00:16:27And ultimately, this is a game, and we kind of collectively decide on what the rules are.
00:16:31And if it doesn't make sense to the people watching, that is a problem.
00:16:33Yeah, I think what I would say is,
00:16:36Kelly had been sent off before the referee went to the monitor.
00:16:38He was already a second yellow card.
00:16:40So I think in some times, making a strong argument like it shouldn't have been a red card,
00:16:43but the fact is, he was already going to be walking off the pitch anyway.
00:16:46But well done, Galatasaray.
00:16:48Oh, yeah. Yeah. Just about.
00:16:49Big result. Just.
00:16:50Yeah.
00:16:51Right, Real Madrid went into their home tie against Benfica with a slender advantage,
00:16:56following the turbulent first leg last week in Portugal.
00:17:26What's happened tonight is a disgrace to football.
00:17:29When it's got to go like that, you celebrate in a respectful way.
00:17:32Mourinho told Vinny a couple of things.
00:17:34One, that the biggest icon of Benfica is a black player, Eusebio,
00:17:37and that Benfica is not a racist.
00:17:39Club, Jose Mourinho, taxed the character of Vinicius Jr.
00:17:43And for me, it's a huge mistake.
00:17:44Are we sitting here trying to justify when someone says something racist?
00:17:49No, I'm not accepting it. You can't accept this.
00:17:51We can't justify a racist act with a celebration.
00:18:01Commentary tonight comes from Guy Mowbrie and Sue Smith.
00:18:07After the events of last week,
00:18:09UEFA handed a provisional one-match ban to Benfica's Gianluca Prestiani,
00:18:14which the Lisbon club appealed.
00:18:15Well, that appeal was today rejected, which means he won't play any part tonight.
00:18:20And nor will Kylian Mbappe, who's been troubled by a problem with his left knee since early December.
00:18:25So, Gonzalo Garcia comes in for Real Madrid.
00:18:28With one other change from the first leg,
00:18:30Raul Asensio replaces Dean Housen, who's out with a calf injury.
00:18:34For Benfica, just one change with Prestiani's place in the team,
00:18:37taken by Richard Rios.
00:18:39And no Jose Mourinho on the touchline following his dismissal last Tuesday.
00:18:43Assistant João Tralao will issue his instructions from pitch side.
00:18:49Benfica have only lost one of their last seven games,
00:18:52and that was last week's first leg.
00:18:54Mavinka's touch.
00:18:56Schuermain, he keeps it away from Aushness.
00:19:02Ardugula at the top of the midfield diamond, finding Vinicius Junior.
00:19:06He was able to cut inside, and able to get it back!
00:19:10Can't complete the finish, and it's largely due to the challenge of Otamendi, Vinicius Junior.
00:19:15What a penalty!
00:19:15The verdict of Slavko Vincic is that it was a really good tackle.
00:19:20Well, let's see.
00:19:21It's really difficult to see, isn't it? It's a lovely one, too.
00:19:23Vinicius Junior, Otamendi comes across and doesn't really get anything of the ball, does he?
00:19:28They didn't get much of a check from VAR.
00:19:30I think their feeling was, by the time Otamendi came in with a tackle, the ball was as good as
00:19:34out.
00:19:37Aushness finds Dedic.
00:19:41Richard Rios wants it, he's playing quite high on the field, and it's a lovely layoff for Pavlidis.
00:19:46Pavlidis across, and Courtois makes the save first time, but not second.
00:19:52Rafa Silva is in the right place for Benfica.
00:19:55And they've levelled the tie.
00:19:59Oh, it's brilliant play from Benfica, look at this.
00:20:02Real precise passing when Pavlidis gets the ball into a dangerous area.
00:20:06It's a fantastic save initially from Courtois to prevent the own goal, but can't do anything about Rafa Silva.
00:20:14And that really has got the away fans bouncing and singing.
00:20:19There will just be, even at this early stage, a few chunters from the Madridistas.
00:20:27And...
00:20:27Arda Goulair...
00:20:29Pulled back with Schuermann...
00:20:31Eeeeee!
00:20:33Magnificent!
00:20:34His first goal of the season.
00:20:38His first ever goal in the Champions League.
00:20:41And it's a really, really important one for Real Madrid.
00:20:46Benfica's euphoria has been quashed.
00:20:49Well, what a response from Real Madrid.
00:20:51It all come from a mistake.
00:20:52It was Otamendi, I think, that originally...
00:20:54Give the ball away.
00:20:55But when Schuermann is in that position, it's just a lovely guided pass.
00:21:00He chooses the inside of his foot to just curl it around.
00:21:03The goalkeeper, Trubin.
00:21:04Real Madrid won.
00:21:06Benfica won.
00:21:07Madrid have the advantage in the tie again.
00:21:10Where is Jose Mourinho watching this game from?
00:21:13There hasn't been any evidence of him in the stadium.
00:21:16Can't see him, can we?
00:21:18Or wherever he is.
00:21:19He was sat back down again within two minutes of his team taking the lead.
00:21:24Benny Junior.
00:21:28He could have beaten him again.
00:21:29Benfica were in trouble.
00:21:31He's gonna have another go.
00:21:33Lifting it for Valverde.
00:21:34And Gonzalo Garcia has a go.
00:21:36And Ardugula follows in.
00:21:40The referee is surrounded by frustrated Benfica players.
00:21:47Let's see if there's anything untoward in this.
00:21:49Yeah, I think they're looking for offside there, aren't they?
00:21:52And then maybe...
00:21:52Do they want to foul on the goalkeeper?
00:21:54The goalkeeper doesn't have it in his hands.
00:21:56That's a goal for me, that guy.
00:21:57Unless there's an offside.
00:21:58And that is what VAR are looking at.
00:22:00It's just a question of Gonzalo Garcia.
00:22:02Was he just a smidge offside?
00:22:06And it would be one of those really tight ones if he was.
00:22:12And it's been disallowed.
00:22:15Let's have another look.
00:22:16It's one of the tightest you'll ever see.
00:22:18It's his left shoulder.
00:22:20Just a bit of his left side.
00:22:27Michel de Rau.
00:22:30Busy as ever.
00:22:31Making decent progress.
00:22:33What a good shot and a smart save.
00:22:36Richard Rios must feel his luck right out this evening.
00:22:39Against most goalkeepers in the world, that was a goal.
00:22:42Against Courtois, you've got far less chance.
00:22:49Narda Goulair hits Valverde.
00:22:53Fica trying to scramble clear, but there's no room for manoeuvre there.
00:22:56Here's Trent Alexander-Arnold, who cuts back in and goes back out.
00:23:00And only just misses by a whisker.
00:23:03Oh, he worked that brilliantly.
00:23:06It's really good play.
00:23:07Gets himself onto that right foot.
00:23:08You just think it's going to nestle in that far corner.
00:23:12Really unlucky.
00:23:14The belief is certainly still there from the 4,000 Benfica supporters.
00:23:19And this is Junior, dispossessed.
00:23:23Might be a chance now.
00:23:24It's Rafa Silva!
00:23:27Clip something.
00:23:28Top of bar, glove of Courtois, maybe a bit of both.
00:23:31Oh, it's a brilliant effort outside of the boots.
00:23:34Maybe takes a slight nick, doesn't it?
00:23:36Slight deflection.
00:23:37It's off Raul Asensio, and then off the top of the bar.
00:23:43Alexander-Arnold, oh, what a ball that is.
00:23:45And running through onto it is Valverde.
00:23:48Behind.
00:23:50Good covering defending from Amarderic.
00:23:53What a ball that is from Trent Alexander-Arnold.
00:23:56Great run, but really good recovery.
00:24:00Trent Alexander-Arnold, the best quarterback in the game.
00:24:05Collision between two Madrid players that is going to require pretty rapid attention.
00:24:11Raul Asensio struggling to get his breath.
00:24:13Camavinga isn't moving much at all.
00:24:17Oh!
00:24:21Applause for Raul Asensio, who goes off for further tests and treatment.
00:24:24Just hope that he's okay, and like you said, it's just precautionary.
00:24:28And that has to be at least a five-minute chunk added on to the end.
00:24:36There is Trent Alexander-Arnold again.
00:24:38He's looking for Vinicius Junior.
00:24:42He's been kept really quiet this half.
00:24:44No, he has.
00:24:45First half, he was unplayable at times.
00:24:49Defended him well.
00:24:50Is it that Madrid have been kept quiet, or have they quieted themselves down?
00:24:55Yeah, I think Benfica have played well in this second half.
00:24:57And like you said, I think they've stopped it at source.
00:25:00They've stopped it going to him as much as it was maybe in that first half.
00:25:06Now they have to find that extra bit of attacking gear, and guard against this.
00:25:09It's Vinicius Junior!
00:25:12And he scored!
00:25:15He was always going to tonight, wasn't he?
00:25:19This time the celebrations are all about the smiles.
00:25:24Because that goal has put Madrid within touching distance of their regular place in the last 16,
00:25:32and who knows how far beyond that.
00:25:35He's an absolute class actor, isn't he, guy?
00:25:38Just takes it early, doesn't he?
00:25:39He sees where the goalkeeper is, just passes it into the net,
00:25:42makes it look so easy, but to do that at full pelt, that's hard.
00:25:50All or nothing it's got to be, for the Lisbon Giants now.
00:25:56Here's Dahl.
00:25:58Sheldorov.
00:25:59Gets the cross in!
00:26:00Oh, brilliant attempt!
00:26:02That deserved a goal.
00:26:05Rafa Silva with a flick of genius.
00:26:13Those out of action for Madrid getting ready to think about maybe taking their place in the team again in
00:26:19time for the next stage.
00:26:22Because that is it.
00:26:24And Real Madrid had a one-goal lead from the first leg a week ago.
00:26:29And they finished tonight with a one-goal advantage too.
00:26:34Vinicius Junior played through, ran through, won the tie and takes the glory.
00:26:41Yes, he does.
00:26:43Probably wasn't as comfortable as they would have hoped at times for Real Madrid.
00:26:47And they had some big names missing, but they got the job done.
00:26:50Yeah, they absolutely did.
00:26:51When you're missing the likes of Kylian Mbappe, that's going to be a big loss for them.
00:26:54But I think Benfica took it to Real Madrid.
00:26:56But Madrid on the day, they ended up doing enough.
00:26:58And best of all, capitalised on a mistake.
00:26:59Sotomayor coming out there with the ball.
00:27:01And unfortunately, he played to Camavinga.
00:27:03All my life from Real Madrid is from here.
00:27:04They're trying to make the right source of decisions.
00:27:06And that ball goes out to Valverde, who I thought was great on the day.
00:27:09His decision is to play it there.
00:27:10It's a perfect pass for Chiromini.
00:27:13And as a consequence, he can run onto it and strike it first time.
00:27:15That's when you know it's a real quality pass.
00:27:17And that finish itself right into the corner is fantastic.
00:27:20And there wasn't a ton of quality like that from Real Madrid.
00:27:23But whenever they needed it, it was there.
00:27:25Again, it's another mistake here, in my opinion, from Benfica with that turnover.
00:27:28And very quickly, Valverde, their captain, who is the key within this,
00:27:32plays a great through ball to finish his junior.
00:27:34And when he's in this position with the speed that he has,
00:27:36he's just wondering what type of finish he's going to be.
00:27:38And that is a top-quality clinical finish.
00:27:41Just gets it out of his feet, clean as you like, into that bottom corner.
00:27:44Like, it's the easiest thing in the world, Chappell.
00:27:46It's the easiest thing in the world.
00:27:47And that's the quality that they have in individual moments.
00:27:50It wasn't a perfect game, but whenever they need to capitalise, they did it.
00:27:53And, you know, they can dance their way through to the next round.
00:27:55He took that very quickly on his right, didn't he?
00:27:57Yeah, and that's probably the key to it, not letting the goalkeeper set himself.
00:28:00My only thing with the goalkeeper was is that he made the goal big for Vinicius Junior.
00:28:06He didn't step off his line far enough.
00:28:08If you watch the likes of Courtois or Alisson,
00:28:10they usually are about four or five yards advanced.
00:28:13But Vinicius Junior sees it early and just takes that opportunity.
00:28:17It's a brilliant finish.
00:28:17Do you think there are still, and I'll come to the two defenders here,
00:28:21and then I'll bring you in.
00:28:22Did you not defend as well, no?
00:28:23A little bit.
00:28:24We're needed.
00:28:25Two and a half, two and a half.
00:28:27They still look vulnerable at times.
00:28:29Yeah, absolutely.
00:28:29Real Madrid, don't they?
00:28:30It still looks like they're going to give you opportunities.
00:28:33Absolutely, yeah.
00:28:34And I think for me today, when they were playing Vicente and Rudiger in centre-half,
00:28:38I don't think it was a great defensive partnership.
00:28:40And I think Benfica knew that, and they attacked through the middle whenever they could.
00:28:43I think when they have all their players back and have a big run of games,
00:28:46then they'll be better.
00:28:47But for now, with the injury crisis and stuff that they have,
00:28:49it's sort of like mix and match.
00:28:51We'll put this in.
00:28:51We'll put that in.
00:28:52And you need a really good, cohesive unit,
00:28:54especially going into the later rounds of the Champions League,
00:28:56because you will get punished.
00:28:57Because Benfica's side is a good side.
00:28:59It's not a great European side, but they had tons of opportunities.
00:29:01They don't have a mentality to defend.
00:29:04They don't pride themselves on clean sheets.
00:29:06It's just a case of, if you've scored three, we'll score four.
00:29:10Yeah.
00:29:10And that's okay at times, but not at the top end of the Champions League.
00:29:14Like, they played a Benfica team tonight who are okay,
00:29:18and they caused them so many problems and should have scored more goals.
00:29:21So, in the latter stages, if they do play Manchester City,
00:29:24City will be looking at that thinking, we can dominate that game.
00:29:28Because Benfica aren't the only ones who've gone there and caused...
00:29:30I mean, Marseille early on, Juventus early on.
00:29:33Yeah, they've...
00:29:33And I suppose that was Xabi Alonso's Real Madrid,
00:29:35and, obviously, he's been dismissed and Abolo are brought in
00:29:38in an attempt to try and find some sort of solution.
00:29:40But I think that both Nedim and Steven are right
00:29:42that they have enormous quality in individuals.
00:29:45And, obviously, Bellingham's not there tonight
00:29:46and Bape's not there tonight.
00:29:48Heysen's not there tonight.
00:29:49It isn't a cohesive unit.
00:29:51And, at some point, I think that will tell against them,
00:29:54against if they get one of Europe's giants,
00:29:56like City or Bodo Glimt.
00:29:57You both tipped them at the start.
00:29:59Yeah, exactly.
00:30:00We'll come on to Bodo Glimt.
00:30:01You both tipped them to win it at the start.
00:30:04Are you worried about that prediction?
00:30:06I'm not worried right now, but I'll see what the draw says on Friday.
00:30:09OK.
00:30:09Did I tip them to win it at the start?
00:30:11Apparently, yeah.
00:30:11I have absolutely no recollection of that.
00:30:13Good answer.
00:30:13That's what hits the pick, that is it.
00:30:15You're the expert.
00:30:17Yeah.
00:30:19But very good to know that you take your predictions seriously
00:30:21at the start of each season.
00:30:23At holders, Paris Saint-Germain came from two down at Monaco
00:30:26in the first leg of their play-off to win 3-2.
00:30:28Could they progress tonight in Paris?
00:30:31Your commentator for this one, Mark Scott.
00:30:34Having made a devastating impact from the bench in the first leg,
00:30:39Desiree Douai starts tonight,
00:30:40taking the place of the injured Ousmane Dembele.
00:30:43Like Douai, Follarin Balogun scored twice in last week's game,
00:30:48which made it four goals in the Americans past five matches against PSG.
00:30:59Enrique.
00:31:02Enrique's block.
00:31:03There's nothing wrong with that.
00:31:04Aqliouj, excellent touch.
00:31:05Big chance.
00:31:06Oh!
00:31:07What a miss.
00:31:09Mamadou Koulibaly has passed up a huge hit.
00:31:13Big chance to level the scores on aggregate.
00:31:19Haven't found the net from that chance, but there'll be encouragement at the gaps that they managed to create,
00:31:23and they are looking to try and find one again here.
00:31:26Marquinhos has briefly halted Monaco's progress.
00:31:29Balogun onto it.
00:31:32He's hopeful of prizing a corner from the situation, which the American has done.
00:31:41The corner's been worked short, which might just move the pieces around a bit.
00:31:44That's a good win.
00:31:46Delivery!
00:31:47And it's another chance that comes and goes.
00:31:49And it's the former PSG man, Thilo Kera, who's caused an uncomfortable moment for Luis Enrique now.
00:31:57It's a tall order facing Monaco, but the players have started in a manner that suggests they believe they're up
00:32:03to it.
00:32:05That's loose from Kern, and he could be punished.
00:32:09Should have been punished.
00:32:11Desiree Due's radar not working for him there.
00:32:16Keeper gets a big let-off here.
00:32:24Well, Balogun could be in here.
00:32:26Marquinhos has sent him wide.
00:32:28Balogun!
00:32:29It's an excellent attempt from following Balogun.
00:32:33Balogun!
00:32:35Balogun!
00:32:37Balogun!
00:32:42Balogun!
00:32:44Balogun!
00:32:45Balogun!
00:32:46Balogun!
00:32:47Balogun!
00:32:49Balogun!
00:32:50Balogun!
00:32:50Balogun!
00:32:51Balogun!
00:32:52Balogun!
00:32:53Balogun!
00:32:55Balogun!
00:32:56Balogun!
00:32:58Balogun!
00:32:59Balogun!
00:33:00Balogun!
00:33:01Balogun!
00:33:02Balogun!
00:33:02Balogun!
00:33:02Balogun!
00:33:03Balogun!
00:33:03Zakaria up from the back, and still going here, the captain.
00:33:09Marquinhos got a touch on it, Safinov likewise.
00:33:16Enrique...
00:33:18Oh, it's into a good area, Agliouche!
00:33:24Monika level on aggregate!
00:33:27Magnus Agliouche with a magnificent finish!
00:33:31And you have to say on the balance of play, Monaco deserve parity overall.
00:33:50Koulibaly was caught.
00:33:55Mono Mendes, clattered by Koulibaly, who receives a yellow card.
00:34:06Luis Enrique has spoken about his side's ability to overcome adversity since he took over at PSG.
00:34:14There will be an element of steel needed from his side tonight if they're to make it through.
00:34:20Hakimi caught late there.
00:34:27And it's the second yellow card, he's off.
00:34:30And just as in the first leg, Monaco find themselves down to ten men.
00:34:38Hakimi, I think, made the most of it, but it's reckless.
00:34:43It's ill-advised, to say the least, when you're already on a yellow for that earlier challenge on Nuno Mendes
00:34:50just a few minutes previous.
00:34:53Mamadou Koulibaly, the man who teed up Agliouche for the only goal of this leg so far, now has to
00:35:01depart.
00:35:02And what impact will that have on the game now?
00:35:05Do it.
00:35:07Oh, it's in!
00:35:09Immediately after Monaco had a man sent off, Marquinhos scores to put PSG back on course for the last 16.
00:35:20Now the tie has turned in the space of a minute or so.
00:35:25The dismissal of Koulibaly and then the close range finish of Marquinhos.
00:35:35And now Monaco find that everything is crumbling around them.
00:35:45Chal Neves.
00:35:48Let's give Nuno Mendes to advance.
00:35:51He's got a corner, but his teammate feels that he should have been a bit quicker getting forwards.
00:35:59Due goes short.
00:36:00Nuno Mendes.
00:36:02Maratskelia.
00:36:05Pitinia.
00:36:08Hakimi!
00:36:10Khabaratskelia!
00:36:12That should do it for the holders!
00:36:15Two in six minutes has surely ensured that PSG are into the last 16.
00:36:25What might have been for Monaco.
00:36:28The red card followed by two quick-fire goals.
00:36:31This one after Hakimi fired from distance.
00:36:36The keeper perhaps should have done better.
00:36:38Patted it straight into the path of Khabaratskelia who had an easy task to tap home.
00:36:45And surely PSG are home and dry now.
00:36:49It's turned into a comfortable night for PSG, but for a while they were looking very edgy.
00:36:57Dingra's got it back.
00:37:03Oh, and Birett was in their chance.
00:37:05Tessa scores.
00:37:07And maybe Monaco aren't out of this just yet.
00:37:11The ten men bring it back to within a goal on aggregate with two minutes of added time left.
00:37:18Got to admire the fighting qualities of Sebastian Pocanoli's side.
00:37:25Wasn't the best defending once again from a PSG perspective.
00:37:31Will they get one chance to try and force extra time?
00:37:38Hernandez.
00:37:40Khabaratskelia's lost it.
00:37:42Here goes Vanderson.
00:37:45Referee's been filled by Xiao Neves and then Dingra's been tripped as well.
00:37:53Isma Kovac went flying.
00:37:56And a short time after, Dingra was dumped to the deck as well.
00:38:02Given away a bit of a height advantage there Xiao Neves, but still had enough for the
00:38:06Man in light blue.
00:38:10Found fast.
00:38:11Oh, my word.
00:38:13That was the chance to take it to extra time.
00:38:16He had a clear run at it, but just completely missed it.
00:38:21Agony for Sebastian Pocanoli, whose team have fought right to the very end.
00:38:29Monaco as a team, they are a great team.
00:38:31It was difficult, especially in the first half.
00:38:33We were imprecise and I think we improved our level the second half.
00:38:40We deserved that victory, but it was tough.
00:38:44Been some great games tonight and that was another one.
00:38:47But a bit like in the first leg when they were 2-0 up Monaco.
00:38:50They kind of were their own worst enemy tonight, weren't they?
00:38:53Yeah, they were.
00:38:54However, I think they've been hard done to here.
00:38:57We're talking about another sending off in a vital game and Koulibaly.
00:39:02I don't think there's any arguments.
00:39:03This is a yellow card.
00:39:04It's just behind.
00:39:06Mendez comes off the floor, jumps into the challenge.
00:39:10That's acceptable for a yellow card.
00:39:12That's absolutely fine.
00:39:13But the next one, I'm just not so sure about whatsoever.
00:39:16I think it's a little bit naive of him when he's on a yellow card.
00:39:20But what he does is he just goes to close down with an intensity.
00:39:23And Hakimi actually kicks through, kicks onto the player and then gets sent off.
00:39:29I think this is very, very harsh.
00:39:31And then it leaves them in a position where now they're down to ten men and they've got it all
00:39:36to do.
00:39:37I do think that's very harsh and I'm sure our official on the couch might think a little bit differently.
00:39:42I do actually, but carry on.
00:39:43But then, this is where now you're down to ten men.
00:39:46They don't get the 2v1 situation out on that right-hand side.
00:39:50So Dewey goes past his man, Marquinias gets the goal and that was in the blink of an eye.
00:39:57And then they get the finishing goal.
00:39:58You see Kvarac Gelia at the back post here.
00:40:00He wants the initial ball, but he's so quick to pounce on the ricochet or the parry down in front
00:40:06of him.
00:40:07It's a really good finish from Kvarac Gelia.
00:40:09But the game was done and they did get an opportunity at the end.
00:40:14But you cannot play against Paris Saint-Germain with ten men.
00:40:17Go on.
00:40:18Sorry, can I help you?
00:40:20Do you know, with that one, and we had this on a Premier League match of the day recently,
00:40:24players have to take some responsibility here as well, don't they?
00:40:28You know, it's not all on the referees.
00:40:30Yeah, so to be honest, like, with that one that we've just seen there from Koulibaly,
00:40:35he's on a yellow card.
00:40:36So does he need to go and press that aggressively?
00:40:38He probably doesn't.
00:40:39I think as he gets older and he's more experienced, I don't think he makes that same sort of challenge.
00:40:44So that's why I think in some ways this one's a bit more vindicated.
00:40:47But again, look at me speaking for all the refs.
00:40:49I did not think I'd find myself in his position.
00:40:51I'm not ready for it, to be honest.
00:40:53Paris Saint-Germain, a bit like Real Madrid, are sort of doing enough at the moment.
00:40:58And again, you know, in this tie, they've shown some vulnerabilities.
00:41:03Yeah, I think there's a sense that they are kind of keeping their powder dry.
00:41:07Just doing enough?
00:41:08We saw them last season.
00:41:09They were not great until they beat City late on in the group stage
00:41:13and then they kind of suddenly turn it on.
00:41:15The best team in Europe, by a mile, end up winning that final 5-0 against Inter,
00:41:19deserved Champions of Europe.
00:41:20I think we're kind of assuming they can do it again
00:41:23because they have all these kind of in-built advantages of, you know,
00:41:26they don't have to play their best team every week in Liga.
00:41:29They can rest players.
00:41:30They can take players off after an hour.
00:41:31But I don't know whether you can summon it like that.
00:41:33I think you're taking a risk if you're not building that momentum.
00:41:37But you only have to listen to what Dembele said when he said,
00:41:40we've lost our identity a bit and we're playing as individuals and not as a team.
00:41:44Last year, their biggest strength was they suffocated teams out of possession.
00:41:49So when they wanted to win the ball back, they won it back so high up the pitch
00:41:53and then dominated the ball, never give it away.
00:41:55At the moment, they don't look like a team.
00:41:57They look like a team of individuals.
00:41:59Right, next, Borussia Dortmund travelled to Italy to face Atalanta
00:42:03with a healthy 2-0 lead after the first leg.
00:42:07Let's see if there are any refereeing decisions in this one.
00:42:09Your commentator is Stephen Wyeth.
00:42:22Zalewski.
00:42:25Ernesto going ahead of him.
00:42:28Scamacca are waiting across which shouldn't have reached him but did.
00:42:32Inside five minutes, the tie revitalised by Gianluca Scamacca.
00:42:39Well, they promised a fast start Atalanta and they produced it,
00:42:43even if it is inexplicable how the Dortmund defence allows Gianluca Scamacca a tap in.
00:42:51Atalanta a goal up on the night.
00:42:54They couldn't, could they?
00:42:58Mecha.
00:43:01Helping it on to Bayern.
00:43:05Maximilian Bayern, that's a lovely little lay-off and Brandt has forced a save out of Kanaseki.
00:43:10Oh, the weight on the pass from Bayern. Sensational.
00:43:15Brandt able to get his shot away without really looking at the target but...
00:43:19Kanaseki equal to it.
00:43:20He's like a game...
00:43:25Samaric for Mario Pacevic.
00:43:31Zafacosta.
00:43:37Bernasconi for deflection on the cross made it awkward Kerbal punches
00:43:41but the follow-up is in via a deflection
00:43:46Davide Zappacosta takes the acclaim for bringing the tie back to 2-2
00:43:54Bernasconi's cross initially dealt with by Kerbal
00:43:56but when Zappacosta fired it back in
00:43:59it was Ben Sabanit significant deflection to make it 2-0 on the night
00:44:052-2 on aggregate
00:44:14that's needlessly out of play for an Atalanta throw
00:44:17so home side's pressure and remaining in place there's been plenty of it
00:44:25Zalewski making a nuisance of himself
00:44:28Bernasconi for Diroun
00:44:33Kolasinac
00:44:35Zalewski
00:44:37Martin Diroun
00:44:39that's inviting
00:44:42and it gets the finish it deserves
00:44:45from Mario Paszalic
00:44:48the transformation of this tie is now absolute
00:44:54they started the night 2-0 down
00:44:56Atalanta now lead 3-0 on the evening
00:45:01and 3-2 on aggregate
00:45:06what a time they are having
00:45:28what a time they are having
00:45:31from the resulting corner
00:45:33it is headed away by Krustovic
00:45:40Adiemi
00:45:41oh he's got it back
00:45:42Karim Adiemi
00:45:45the goal Dortmund have been threatening has just been delivered
00:45:51and it's one of the substitutes Adiemi
00:45:54who got himself into a wonderful position to get the shot away
00:45:58and he picked his spot quite beautifully
00:46:04seemingly destined for extra time
00:46:07met your forward
00:46:08Adiemi's there
00:46:13Kerbal comes
00:46:14can't afford a mistake
00:46:15but he's just gifted the ball to Paszalic
00:46:19who's clicked it over the goalkeeper
00:46:21and Krustovic throwing himself at the ball
00:46:24and behind for a corner
00:46:25but Atalanta wants a penalty
00:46:27it was a desperate flick from Ben Sabahini
00:46:32is that an act
00:46:34that on further inspection
00:46:36will be worthy of a spot kick
00:46:39here we go
00:46:40it is a penalty
00:46:43and it's a second yellow card
00:46:46for Rami Ben Sabahini
00:46:49it all comes down to this
00:46:53it all comes down to this
00:46:55Zmarzic for Atalanta
00:46:58picks the top corner out
00:47:00quite brilliantly
00:47:02to send Atalanta through to the round of 16 of the Champions League
00:47:08there is the full time whistle
00:47:10it was the final kick
00:47:13of a night that has ebbed and flowed
00:47:15but has ended in triumph for Atalanta
00:47:21well it all comes down to one person in this game doesn't it really
00:47:24because when you're having a bad day
00:47:25you're having a bad day
00:47:27and Ben Sabahini had a bad day
00:47:28yeah he was fully committed to this bad day
00:47:30I think from the very start of this game
00:47:33like he ends up being involved in the last moment
00:47:35but as we look at this here
00:47:37the decision making
00:47:38he's trying to flick that away
00:47:39but he's flicked it into Skamaka
00:47:41the one place where you can't put that ball
00:47:42and in some ways I'd hope my full-backs fencing behind him
00:47:45would have said something
00:47:45but instead he flicked in
00:47:47it's a great chance for him now
00:47:48and even this one he's trying to block it
00:47:50but there's a technique to blocking shots
00:47:52and I've got to be honest
00:47:53this is not it
00:47:55this literally is not it
00:47:56I think the fact that he ends up almost sticking himself towards it
00:47:59and stopping the goalkeeper from being able to save it
00:48:01is difficult
00:48:01and here he's attached onto Pasalic
00:48:03everything's fine right obviously
00:48:05he's comfortable in his position
00:48:06but when that ball comes in
00:48:07all of a sudden Pasalic has a free header at the back post
00:48:09this is a really experienced and good defender
00:48:12having a terrible day
00:48:13so you think well obviously it can't get worse
00:48:15can it?
00:48:15surely it cannot
00:48:16but of course it can
00:48:18so as we see here
00:48:19this is desperation now
00:48:20and he's thinking I'm going to try and clear the ball
00:48:22so he attempts a scorpion kick clearance
00:48:24but instead manages to just connect with the teeth of the striker
00:48:27I think it is
00:48:27yeah
00:48:27but all the while he didn't even realise that he did that
00:48:30he thought that was a great bit of defending
00:48:31but instead what he offers up
00:48:33is the opportunity for Atalanta to win the game
00:48:35obviously after being sent off as well
00:48:37that's his second yellow
00:48:38that's his second yellow card
00:48:39offers up an opportunity to win the game with the last kick
00:48:42and what a penalty that is
00:48:44so I think as far as Bente Baiani goes
00:48:47he's going to remember this day
00:48:48but to be honest so are Atalanta
00:48:50they are
00:48:51and they're an interesting team aren't they
00:48:52Atalanta
00:48:53and they could be next up for Arsenal
00:48:55they go in that bracket with Arsenal or Bayern Munich
00:48:57yeah and it looks a little bit like maybe their story had not ground to a halt
00:49:01but kind of come to the end of a natural chapter when Giampiero Gasparini left in the summer
00:49:04they appointed Ivan Juric the Southampton legend
00:49:07amazingly that didn't work out that well
00:49:10but they've since replaced them with Raffaele Palladino
00:49:12who has been around for a little while as kind of an up and coming Italian coach
00:49:15and they're not what they were when they beat Liverpool on the way to winning the Europa League
00:49:19that was kind of peak Atalanta
00:49:21Adam Ola Lutman went to Atletico Madrid in the January transfer window
00:49:24but they are
00:49:25they're one of the rare teams in Italy that think about
00:49:28kind of buying players with resale value
00:49:31repurposing players who've maybe not settled elsewhere
00:49:33they have a lot of natural talent and they've got a kind of clear identity
00:49:36so as much as you'd expect Arsenal to get past them if they draw them or buy in
00:49:41they'll give them a problem Atalanta
00:49:42I don't think many teams have been to Bergamo
00:49:44and enjoyed their experience in Europe in recent years
00:49:47Right, Norway's Bodo Glimt are the story that many people didn't see coming in this season's Champions League
00:49:53their incredible run continued in last week's first leg against Inter
00:50:04Hook with a little flick, big chance and they're in front
00:50:07Burnie Glimt have the lead
00:50:11Borella
00:50:12Decent ball
00:50:13and on the turn
00:50:15it's smashed into the back of the net by Esposito
00:50:20Kasper Hook
00:50:21Jens Petterhauke
00:50:232-1
00:50:27That's a nice ball into Brinstein
00:50:29Scorer the first
00:50:30and Hook
00:50:31Incredible
00:50:32Borella Glimt 3
00:50:34Inter 1
00:50:37It is an extraordinary night for Borella Glimt
00:50:40and Inter have a huge job to do at the San Siro
00:50:43Borella Glimt 3
00:50:45Inter Milan 1
00:50:47Last night they went to San Siro dreaming of another upset
00:50:51Steve Wilson, watch this one
00:50:56Kanji
00:50:56Kanji
00:50:56striding forward
00:50:58got a second Inter goal at the weekend
00:51:01in a 2-0 win at Lecce
00:51:06It's Di Marco's ball into the area
00:51:08and Pio Esposito
00:51:11who scored Inter's goal in the first leg
00:51:14Good leap by Esposito
00:51:17he'd be disappointed
00:51:18he's put that over the bar
00:51:19it's a chance that
00:51:22Bissek
00:51:26Nicely done around the corner
00:51:27this is dangerous
00:51:29and it's put behind
00:51:30by Berg
00:51:33lovely little ball around the corner by Turam
00:51:37David Fertesi was onto it very quickly
00:51:39Inter with the corner
00:51:42Di Marco is going to take it
00:51:50a struggle for Borella to get this away
00:51:53it's back to Di Marco
00:51:55and tipped over really well by Heikin
00:51:59well Borella Glimt didn't deal with the corner at all well
00:52:03that's a good effort
00:52:09Turam
00:52:11three arriving in blue and black
00:52:13Turam here for Inter
00:52:14goes for goal
00:52:16and it's deflected
00:52:19well I wonder whether Heikin would have saved this
00:52:22and Borella Glimt have survived the first 15 minutes
00:52:28here comes Luis Enrique
00:52:32spinning ball has gone for a corner I think
00:52:36and
00:52:37Luis Enrique on the right
00:52:38and
00:52:39Federico Di Marco on the left
00:52:41have seen a lot of the ball
00:52:43Di Marco with another Inter corner
00:52:46got a pace on that
00:52:47and pushed out by Heikin
00:52:50it was straight at Heikin
00:52:53but crucially he managed to push it away from goal
00:52:56not back into the melee
00:52:57Fjotr Jelinski
00:52:59Nicola Perella
00:53:00that's Stoney
00:53:02oh Jelinski
00:53:03good feet
00:53:04still going
00:53:06oh
00:53:07and it just slashes wide at the left-hand post
00:53:12sidestep one challenged
00:53:14nutmegged Evienne and then drove wide
00:53:20Haugge
00:53:24Schurwold's ball in
00:53:25and Jan Sommer is called into action
00:53:28for the first time to save the
00:53:30Hakon Evienne header
00:53:31well it's the first time in a long time
00:53:34that Borella Glimt have offered any
00:53:35threat to Inter's goal
00:53:39Jelinski's ball is deflected
00:53:42Frattese
00:53:43blocked by Patrick Berg
00:53:45I think it was his
00:53:47ribs rather than his arm
00:53:50though Frattese is suggesting that the Spanish referee
00:53:52might want to have a little look at this
00:53:54VAR will obviously look
00:53:56it's hit him in the arm pit really
00:53:58his arm is raised
00:54:00the check is over
00:54:05Federico Di Marco
00:54:08and
00:54:09across goal
00:54:12well yet again
00:54:14near the target
00:54:15but not on the target
00:54:21oh
00:54:22Akanji Zera
00:54:23terrible mistake
00:54:24Bloomberg
00:54:25and in
00:54:26from Jens Petterhauger
00:54:29and Burdick Limt have the lead
00:54:31and could well
00:54:32be heading to the round of 16
00:54:35and Inter have shot themselves
00:54:37in the foot here
00:54:38with a terrible mistake
00:54:41and somehow
00:54:43given the statistics in this game
00:54:46Inter are behind
00:54:49Borella to Di Marco
00:54:52Borella
00:54:53Di Marco making the run to the byline
00:54:55that's better it's a chance for Akanji
00:54:57and it's hit the post
00:54:59and it's hook wide on the rebound
00:55:01by Marcus Turam
00:55:04Manuel Akanji
00:55:07whose error
00:55:09gifted Burdick Limt the lead
00:55:10hits the post
00:55:16against
00:55:16Gundersen's forward ball
00:55:17nicely played
00:55:20Hauger here
00:55:21Bloomberg in the middle
00:55:23Hauger's ball is beautifully controlled
00:55:25what a goal
00:55:26hack on Evienne
00:55:28with a brilliant
00:55:30brilliant goal
00:55:32Burdick Limt
00:55:332-0 up in the San Siro
00:55:35and heading to the round of 16
00:55:38where they will play either Manchester City
00:55:41or Sporting
00:55:43Di Marco
00:55:45a deep cross
00:55:46Bissek got onto it
00:55:47Juve's missed
00:55:48hit it
00:55:49and Petr Susic
00:55:51sees it blocked by
00:55:52Sondra Brunstad
00:55:53it does not seem to matter what Inter do
00:55:56they cannot score a goal
00:55:59great defending again
00:56:02Di Marco
00:56:03and Bissek
00:56:05oh goodness me
00:56:07I don't know how
00:56:08that has not crossed the line
00:56:09or actually it has
00:56:12Inter have a goal
00:56:13the technology
00:56:16says goal
00:56:17well it must presumably
00:56:19be a Bastoni goal
00:56:22confirmation that the ball had just
00:56:25just crossed the line
00:56:29and the final act is about to be played out
00:56:33at the San Siro
00:56:35it is Norwegian footballing history
00:56:38and incredibly
00:56:40Burdick Limp
00:56:41they've gone
00:56:42further than any
00:56:43Norwegian side
00:56:44has ever gone before
00:56:46and you could say
00:56:48that over two legs
00:56:50Inter Milan's boys
00:56:51took a hell of a beating
00:56:53Inter 1
00:56:54Burdick Limp 2 on the night
00:56:57Inter 2
00:56:58Burdick Limp 5 on aggregate
00:57:01the historical
00:57:02historical
00:57:04moment for
00:57:06Burdick Limp
00:57:07I think it's also a historical moment
00:57:08for Norwegian football
00:57:09and I'm so proud
00:57:12we are a team from
00:57:15small town and
00:57:18I really hope we show
00:57:20if we can do it
00:57:21I think everyone can do it
00:57:22and that's for me
00:57:24in international football
00:57:26I think that's the most beautiful
00:57:28with the whole story
00:57:30we knew it was going to be
00:57:31extremely tough today
00:57:32but the clock was running in
00:57:35our way
00:57:36so we knew that the longer we could
00:57:40keep the score 0-0
00:57:42the space would open
00:57:43we could really punish them on counter
00:57:46and we did that
00:57:48it's a remarkable
00:57:50journey for Burdick Limp
00:57:52you can see Inter Milan
00:57:53dominating the stats
00:57:54in many ways
00:57:56possession and shots
00:57:57but look, you know
00:57:58seven shots on target from 30
00:58:00and an expected goals of 2.3
00:58:02compared to five on target from seven
00:58:05for Burdick Limp in the next year of 1.7
00:58:07so they were miles more efficient basically
00:58:09yeah, I wish they knew the Norwegian for efficient
00:58:12Rory?
00:58:13come on
00:58:14be fair
00:58:15I know, just on the off chance
00:58:17rubbish
00:58:18anyway
00:58:19no, but they're so well organised
00:58:21and what they do well is
00:58:23is that they break in numbers
00:58:24and they commit themselves
00:58:26to making sure that when they go forward
00:58:27but it's not just about that
00:58:29it's about the organisation
00:58:30the man for man
00:58:31making sure that they almost say to Inter
00:58:34we want you to go down that left hand side
00:58:36that's the options that we're giving you now
00:58:38because when you do go across there
00:58:40we know how to get across
00:58:42we know how to be organised
00:58:43they force it down this left hand side
00:58:45De Rossi then
00:58:46he's got no pass on
00:58:47so you've got
00:58:48now it's about
00:58:49how do you turn over possession
00:58:50how do you move it quickly
00:58:52they're looking for Evian in that centre midfield
00:58:54he's already got an idea in his head
00:58:56where the spare man is now
00:58:57this ball is absolutely brilliant
00:59:00from Haug into Evian
00:59:02great first touch
00:59:03the finish is absolutely phenomenal
00:59:05just the way it bounces up
00:59:07pick out that far corner
00:59:08and that was just the start that they needed
00:59:10the goal that they needed
00:59:11but this is against Manchester City
00:59:14so we're not talking about a one-off game
00:59:16they've beaten three top teams
00:59:18they've beaten Inter Milan
00:59:19they've beaten Manchester City
00:59:20they've beaten Atletico as well
00:59:22so it shows you the quality they've got
00:59:24and we're talking about the quality when they go forward again
00:59:27Haug with another impressive finish there at the back post
00:59:30but this is where they turn the ball over
00:59:32and it's about making sure that you've got numbers going forward
00:59:35now this goal doesn't happen unless those players
00:59:38force Manchester City's back line
00:59:40backwards
00:59:41Haug now
00:59:42beats Rodri
00:59:42far too easy
00:59:43but because of those movements of the forward players
00:59:46pushing the City defence back
00:59:48that's what creates it
00:59:49the other great thing that they do is
00:59:51they turn the ball over quickly
00:59:53they make sure that they're almost ratting around in that midfield area
00:59:56making life difficult for them
00:59:58but then Berg now
00:59:59sees an opportunity
01:00:00the midfield parts
01:00:03and then he drives through
01:00:04he commits players
01:00:05that just adds
01:00:07problems into the back line of Atletico
01:00:09yes it's scrappy
01:00:10but what they are
01:00:11I mean this is ugly
01:00:12it's ugly
01:00:13it's horrible
01:00:14but it causes chaos
01:00:17because he had to clear it out
01:00:18yeah exactly
01:00:19so they're a dangerous proposition
01:00:21they're a very good team
01:00:23and the really good run that they've gone on
01:00:26in the Champions League
01:00:27has actually coincided
01:00:28with their off season
01:00:30you know the season finished at the end of November
01:00:32in Norway
01:00:33they didn't actually win the title
01:00:34Viking won the title
01:00:36but this really good run
01:00:37has been during the off season
01:00:38yeah and in some ways
01:00:40for the way that say
01:00:41especially myself thinks about football
01:00:42that shouldn't be the case
01:00:43you know when Man City were playing against them
01:00:45I thought well here's this rusty side
01:00:46and obviously City and others have been playing
01:00:48lots of games over that winter period
01:00:49but you thought well
01:00:50it shouldn't be easy
01:00:51but you should have an advantage
01:00:52but instead they're continuing to grow
01:00:54and that win against City
01:00:55was their first ever Champions League win
01:00:57and here they are now in the last 16
01:00:58and they could play City again
01:01:00they're in that same bracket
01:01:01but it is a
01:01:02I mean they are a joy
01:01:03aren't they?
01:01:04it's exactly what the Champions League needs
01:01:05to be honest
01:01:06because
01:01:07we want to see games between the big teams
01:01:09you want to see the big glamour ties
01:01:10that is what the kind of selling point
01:01:11of this competition is
01:01:12but
01:01:12I think it loses something
01:01:14if you don't have that variety
01:01:15and if you don't have that romance
01:01:16and that possibility
01:01:17of a team coming from
01:01:19some random corner of Europe effectively
01:01:21you wouldn't expect a Norwegian team
01:01:23to get this far
01:01:24and being this good
01:01:25I think that lends something
01:01:26to the competition
01:01:27because they are so
01:01:28effective
01:01:29which is Norwegian
01:01:31that's a good guess
01:01:33from the
01:01:34it's a bit unfair isn't it
01:01:36to pin the ills of Italian football
01:01:38on Inter
01:01:39who have actually gone further
01:01:41than most Italian teams
01:01:43in the Champions League
01:01:44over recent seasons
01:01:46I mean you can translate
01:01:47as many of those papers
01:01:48as you want
01:01:49I'll start
01:01:50disastrous Inter
01:01:51at the top left
01:01:52but apart from that
01:01:54yeah so
01:01:55senza scuse
01:01:56is no excuses
01:01:57incubo inter
01:01:58is inter nightmare
01:01:59and tramontada
01:02:00I think is a pun
01:02:02on tramontana
01:02:03which is the north wind
01:02:04with something to do
01:02:05with remontada
01:02:06which is the Spanish word
01:02:07for comeback
01:02:07but I wouldn't be
01:02:08I wouldn't put money on that
01:02:09but it is unfair to throw all the
01:02:11because they
01:02:12they've done better than most
01:02:14well they've made two finals
01:02:15in three years
01:02:15we shouldn't overlook that
01:02:16that is amazing
01:02:17because they don't have the
01:02:18ultimately they don't have the
01:02:19the funds that the Premier League
01:02:21teams do
01:02:21they don't have the money of PSG
01:02:22or Real Madrid or Barcelona
01:02:23they are overperforming
01:02:25I think
01:02:26Napoli
01:02:27had real injury problems
01:02:28this season
01:02:28which is why they've underperformed
01:02:29although even so
01:02:30their results have been really poor
01:02:32Atalanta have overperformed again
01:02:33by getting to the last 16
01:02:36Juve
01:02:36on their third manager of the season
01:02:37I think there is a structural issue
01:02:39in Italian football
01:02:40that Inter are maybe suffering from
01:02:42a little bit
01:02:42but overall
01:02:43they've been the standard bearers
01:02:45for Serie A
01:02:45I think
01:02:46you've been very charitable there
01:02:47but I think we do also have to address
01:02:48the fact that Inter are the team
01:02:49that are ten points clear
01:02:50at the top of Serie A
01:02:51and they've just been knocked out
01:02:52by Bodo Glimpse
01:02:53and their second game was at home
01:02:54so even if we think about the wider context
01:02:56of what's going on with Italian football
01:02:58you know
01:02:58for example with the national team
01:03:00that perhaps might not qualify
01:03:01for the third World Cup in a row
01:03:02I believe it is
01:03:04it has to be better
01:03:05credit to Bodo
01:03:06but Inter Milan are Inter Milan
01:03:09I just think you're just doing a disservice to Bodo
01:03:11I just think they've just been phenomenal
01:03:13I think when you look at them
01:03:14they
01:03:14the way they structurally set up against Inter
01:03:17they made life so difficult for them
01:03:19so
01:03:19Bodo for the winners
01:03:20they're going to win it
01:03:22Newcastle's 6-1 win
01:03:23against Karabag in Azerbaijan last week
01:03:26left them considerable breathing space
01:03:28going into Tuesday's return leg
01:03:30Guy Mowbray was at St James' Park
01:03:34for the record
01:03:35no team has ever turned around a deficit of
01:03:39five goals or more after the first leg of a European tie
01:03:43Tonali with a useful burst forward
01:03:46here's Byrne now
01:03:46he's come to Barnes
01:03:48Barnes across
01:03:49great save
01:03:51Tonali's in though with the follow-up
01:03:53it's not taken Newcastle much longer than last week
01:03:56four minutes played
01:03:581-0 tonight
01:04:007-1 in the tie
01:04:02Tonali made it happen with that burst between the two defenders
01:04:07Barnes with a lovely little lift in
01:04:10comes off the arm of the Karabag defender before being kept out by Kuchowski
01:04:14but
01:04:15it falls to Sandro Tonali
01:04:17he scores his first ever goal in the Champions League
01:04:20Newcastle 1-0
01:04:27across from Barnes
01:04:29and Joe Linton makes it 2
01:04:34Karabag being ripped open again
01:04:3682 seconds between the two goals
01:04:40another Barnes pick out
01:04:42the finish looked the easy part
01:04:44just gave it a little bit of a flourish by doing it straight on the volley
01:04:52Medina
01:04:55touched on by Honi Montiel
01:04:56Duran has burned past Byrne
01:05:00and scores
01:05:03Karabag have one back
01:05:06Camillo Duran's goal is
01:05:08drawing rich applause too from the Newcastle fans
01:05:11as well as delirium from the small band of Karabag supporters
01:05:16having gone away from Byrne
01:05:18he needed the composure to finish
01:05:20it's a brilliant finish
01:05:24it's going to be a corner
01:05:27in from Trippier
01:05:29and Newcastle have their margin back
01:05:32because Sven Bottmann's thundered that home unchallenged
01:05:37it's a seven goal gap again
01:05:40Byrne making the run and he drew Medina to him
01:05:43Medina's leap nowhere near the ball
01:05:44Bottmann kept his eyes on it all the way
01:05:54Duran
01:05:57Duran
01:05:57Danny Bolt
01:05:57knocks it on to
01:05:58Pedro Bicalio
01:06:00it's blocked by Byrne but blocked with his arm
01:06:02penalty for Karabag
01:06:05well it's all happening this half
01:06:07accidental or otherwise
01:06:08that's always going to be given as a penalty in European competition and he knew it
01:06:14so Marko Jankovic
01:06:16with the chance
01:06:17to make it 3-2 tonight
01:06:20saved by Ramsdale
01:06:23but he can't keep out the follow-up
01:06:26Elvin Chappokuliev who scored in the first leg has scored in the second
01:06:31well saved with his legs by Ramsdale
01:06:33he recovered well actually
01:06:37the spin and the bobble of the ball was too much for Ramsdale
01:06:45Medina's lost it and Newcastle could be in now they're a long way away but
01:06:50progressing towards goal number four of the night
01:06:53it's scruffy though isn't it
01:06:54never flowed
01:06:56Barnes is gonna have a go
01:06:58and saved by Kaczewski
01:07:00nearly a nice end to a move that wasn't really ever getting going
01:07:08Tonale
01:07:11Barnes takes it on the run neatly
01:07:14behind for a corner if Newcastle want to hurry and take it
01:07:20so Tonale will put it into the middle
01:07:23and it might be a chance
01:07:25well it was a chance it was Dan Byrne with the back heel
01:07:30saved though by Kaczewski
01:07:32and now it is full time at St James' Park
01:07:36Newcastle United 3
01:07:38Carabag 2
01:07:40Newcastle win
01:07:41a thumping 9-3 on aggregate
01:07:45he went very strong didn't he for that game
01:07:48Eddie Howe maybe surprisingly strong for some people
01:07:50but it meant they killed it early
01:07:52yeah absolutely that is correct
01:07:53I think the first leg kind of decided how this tie was going to go
01:07:57but the fact is you know he did put some strong players out there
01:07:59and they sort of left their marks straight away
01:08:01I think Tonale has been of an important play for them
01:08:03especially with Bruno Guimaraes being out
01:08:05and I think they just started very much on the front foot
01:08:07and tried to give the crowd something to sort of look forward to
01:08:09so instead of going through the motions like they're driving forward
01:08:12they're celebrating these goals
01:08:13they're being aggressive and making sure that Carabag don't think for a single second
01:08:17that this is going to be a game that they'll enjoy
01:08:18and I think what I loved the most after this goal here
01:08:21was how they started the game next
01:08:23well you could be on the back foot but instead now
01:08:25Will Osula is going forward, Harvey Barnes is coming forward
01:08:28everyone's going to try and apply as much pressure as possible
01:08:31even though the game is essentially out of hand
01:08:32you're still playing in front of your home fans
01:08:34and you want to give them something to get behind the cheering
01:08:37like winning the ball back
01:08:38and then before you know it what a finish this is from Joe Linton
01:08:41you know you've celebrated two minutes early
01:08:43and you're celebrating now all over again
01:08:45and the game is properly put to bed
01:08:47because for me no matter what
01:08:48and as you say it does lift it doesn't it
01:08:49for what is a dead rubber really
01:08:51it could have been an absolute nothing game
01:08:53and in some ways it ended up being that way
01:08:54but the fact is it still started well
01:08:56so for the fans they can still think about something
01:08:58which they enjoyed from the match itself
01:08:59and now we'll look fully at the draw in a little while
01:09:02but now they go into the bracket
01:09:03with Barcelona or Chelsea to Newcastle
01:09:06Yeah, which is going to be very interesting
01:09:08and the big thing is that they'll fancy themselves at St James' Park
01:09:12but the Barcelona game, they've already been beaten by them this season
01:09:16Rashford scored a couple of goals against them
01:09:17can they overturn Barcelona or would they fancy going up against Chelsea
01:09:22and thinking that that's the better opportunity of progressing
01:09:25and they'd play Chelsea three times in a row
01:09:26because the way the Fitch has fallen
01:09:28they're playing the Premier League at the weekend as well
01:09:29if they get them in that draw on Friday
01:09:33and a word on Carabaug
01:09:34obviously I think my prediction has been fulfilled
01:09:37you did too, you took them as dark horses at the start
01:09:38I think this is important for Chris Sutton to understand
01:09:40I said I think they will be better than people expect
01:09:42they qualified for the knockouts
01:09:44I'm a little bit surprised and I think they'll be a little bit disappointed
01:09:47don't look at me like that
01:09:48that they were really competitive in all of their games until they got to Anfield
01:09:52when they just completely collapsed
01:09:54and then the first lead against Nitras
01:09:55I mean Chelsea drew in Azerbaijan
01:09:57they gave everyone a game and it just seems to
01:09:59whether they've kind of hit a wall or they've gone a little bit too far
01:10:02but it has been a great campaign from them
01:10:04Here are the remaining games from Tuesday
01:10:06beginning with Atletico Madrid against Club Brugge
01:10:09who were locked at 3-3 after their first lead
01:10:11a commentary on this one from Jonathan Pearce and Stuart Robson
01:10:18This is Simeone
01:10:20I know I saw a lot
01:10:23get across in here to the near post
01:10:24Simeone was there
01:10:25gone over the goalkeeper
01:10:27the referee is unmoved by that
01:10:30good chance
01:10:31was a good chance
01:10:33if it had been slightly short on his right foot
01:10:35I think he might have been able to lift it over the goalkeeper
01:10:37but he's always stretching with his left leg
01:10:39he's trying to claim that
01:10:41Mignolet went into him
01:10:47Sawlott
01:10:47got the shot away
01:10:49and in!
01:10:51core defending by Brugge
01:10:53that's not taken away from him
01:10:55he was determined
01:10:56he got the turn
01:10:57he got the shot away
01:10:59and it squirmed horribly
01:11:01horribly under Simeone Mignolet
01:11:03Atleti 1 Brugge 0
01:11:054-3 on aggregate
01:11:06well you have to say
01:11:07it's brilliant centre-forward play isn't it?
01:11:10it's a good strike
01:11:10but it's not one that should beat the goalkeeper
01:11:1410 to go in the first half
01:11:17lead tonight slender
01:11:19it's had a goal
01:11:20and it's in
01:11:21Ordonez
01:11:21hence Brugge
01:11:23back level
01:11:271-1 on the night
01:11:284-4 on aggregate
01:11:30this tie could go anyway
01:11:32Ordonez gets behind him
01:11:33and we're all square once again
01:11:41here's Danica
01:11:45can Solis deliver a good cross
01:11:47takes on Llorente
01:11:48pops it in
01:11:49too high
01:11:50and a goalkeeper had to say
01:11:52well it was too high
01:11:53for Trisoldi
01:11:55you have to give credit to the goalkeeper
01:11:57the ball looks like it's almost gone past him
01:11:59Oblak gets a really strong left hand to it
01:12:02just keeps it out doesn't he?
01:12:07Simeone with the cross
01:12:08again for Solok
01:12:10partially cleared
01:12:11hit well
01:12:12hit very very well
01:12:15excellent goal by Cardoso
01:12:18and Atleti have the lead again
01:12:19and when the cross comes in
01:12:21it's headed out
01:12:22and he takes a very good first touch
01:12:23with his chest
01:12:25what a good volley
01:12:27Mignolet on this occasion had no chance
01:12:32Llorente
01:12:34it's a lovely ball over the top
01:12:36Solok needs to look left
01:12:37Lookman's in here
01:12:38had to check
01:12:39wasn't a good pass to him
01:12:42Lookman to Griezmann
01:12:43takes the return
01:12:44trying to cut it back to Solok
01:12:45makes it
01:12:463-1
01:12:48really good pass
01:12:50idea from Lookman not to shoot
01:12:51to cut it back
01:12:52he knows that
01:12:53Solok
01:12:54is free
01:12:55and a very good finish
01:12:57calm, composed
01:12:58just passes it
01:12:59beyond Mignolet
01:13:00passes probably
01:13:01Atleti
01:13:02into the next round
01:13:05corner kick to Atleti
01:13:08Riesmann plays short
01:13:12out comes Ruggieri
01:13:13and Solok has a hat-trick
01:13:16what a night for him
01:13:19Solok was about the only player
01:13:20that was going to attack it
01:13:21and he timed his run perfectly
01:13:24Atleti are heading through
01:13:26to play Liverpool or Spurs
01:13:28having eventually
01:13:30cruise past
01:13:31Klubbrugger
01:13:314-1 tonight
01:13:337-4 on aggregate
01:13:39And in Tuesday's other tie
01:13:40Bayer Leverkusen
01:13:41faced Olympiacos
01:13:43with a 2-0 lead
01:13:44from the first leg
01:13:44commentary from Mark Scott
01:13:49Leverkusen were in a pretty
01:13:51precarious position
01:13:52after that loss to
01:13:54Olympiacos in the league phase
01:13:57is Lucas Vazquez
01:13:59cute pass
01:14:00good try
01:14:01and beaten away
01:14:02by Zalakis
01:14:03this was regulation
01:14:04for the Olympiacos keeper
01:14:06but it still needed
01:14:07dealing with
01:14:08Mazza
01:14:14Grimaldo
01:14:15good ball
01:14:15and a opening
01:14:17for the head
01:14:18of Patrick Schick
01:14:19and it didn't miss by much
01:14:27Taremi
01:14:28helped on for Martins
01:14:29well he's gone for it
01:14:31and that's a good save
01:14:33tough angle this for
01:14:34Chelsea and Martins
01:14:35but he nearly made it work
01:14:39Grimaldo
01:14:42Ernest Poku
01:14:45Poku again
01:14:46that's nice
01:14:48Grimaldo
01:14:48off the post
01:14:51inches away
01:14:52from ensuring
01:14:54Leverkusen
01:14:54were through to the round
01:14:55of 16
01:14:59corner
01:15:00towards Antrisch
01:15:03he's convinced that
01:15:04they've got a tip on its way
01:15:05behind from Zalakis
01:15:06but the officials
01:15:07not in agreement with him
01:15:12this is Pirola
01:15:1490 seconds
01:15:15of the 90 minutes remaining
01:15:18Sipioni
01:15:19the substitute trying to
01:15:21inject a bit of jeopardy
01:15:23into the game
01:15:23later on
01:15:24it was swerving
01:15:26but swerving
01:15:27in the wrong direction
01:15:28counter might be on here
01:15:29for Leverkusen
01:15:30to finish with a flourish
01:15:32Artur leading the counter
01:15:36Garcia
01:15:37Schick
01:15:38ah
01:15:39would have been quite poetic
01:15:40if he'd applied the
01:15:41finishing touch
01:15:42to the tie there
01:15:43it was a pretty
01:15:44comfortable evening
01:15:46all in all
01:15:46for Bayer Leverkusen
01:15:49so here are how the
01:15:50brackets for the last 16
01:15:52look
01:15:52so there'll be one
01:15:53potential all
01:15:55Premier League tie
01:15:56with Newcastle set to
01:15:57play either Chelsea
01:15:58or Barcelona
01:16:00Manchester City
01:16:01may have the
01:16:02chance to avenge
01:16:03their playoff round loss
01:16:04to Real Madrid lassies
01:16:05or their league stage loss
01:16:07this season to Bodo Glynt
01:16:09Arsenal could play
01:16:10Atalanta or Bayer Leverkusen
01:16:12Spurs and Liverpool
01:16:14will take on either
01:16:16Atletico Madrid
01:16:17or Galatasaray
01:16:19the draw is on Friday
01:16:21what catches your eye
01:16:23Stephen?
01:16:25there's plenty but my new
01:16:27favourite team
01:16:28Bodo Glynt
01:16:29I just think
01:16:30the story of that
01:16:31we were just saying then
01:16:33if they are to get
01:16:34Manchester City
01:16:35and you think
01:16:36they know that
01:16:37they can hurt them
01:16:39psychologically that's
01:16:40huge in a game of football
01:16:41also the AstroTurf pitch
01:16:44not many players want to play
01:16:45on it
01:16:45they're not used to that
01:16:46chopping and changing
01:16:47how they play
01:16:48so I think that would be
01:16:49a fascinating one
01:16:51yeah I think
01:16:51what happens to Bodo
01:16:52is really interesting
01:16:53but I've got to admit
01:16:54as much as it's not
01:16:54the kind of big glamour tie
01:16:55I think if they get
01:16:56sporting
01:16:57with all due respect to sporting
01:16:58they can probably get through
01:17:00and for them to be
01:17:01in a quarterfinal
01:17:01would be amazing
01:17:02but I also have a sneaky suspicion
01:17:03Newcastle will get Chelsea
01:17:05dear
01:17:05I think there's so many
01:17:06Premier League teams left
01:17:07which actually that means
01:17:08we get Barcelona
01:17:09Paris Saint-Germain
01:17:09which would also be wonderful
01:17:10but there are now so many
01:17:11Premier League teams left
01:17:12that I think it's almost inevitable
01:17:13that we get
01:17:13we start to see more and more
01:17:15English
01:17:15all English ties
01:17:16you don't like that do you?
01:17:17oh gosh yeah
01:17:18because he's a European football expert
01:17:19not just a UK football expert
01:17:21I think
01:17:21I think that side of the draw
01:17:23that you just mentioned
01:17:23with Newcastle, Barcelona and Chelsea
01:17:25I quite like the sound of that
01:17:26potential Barcelona PSG type thing
01:17:28I'm all over that
01:17:29Spurs or Liverpool
01:17:31could get tough draws as well
01:17:32with Atletico Madrid
01:17:33and what we've seen at times
01:17:34from Galatasaray
01:17:35yeah of course
01:17:36and you know obviously
01:17:37what a tricky job it is
01:17:38for Igor Tudor coming in at Spurs
01:17:39one minute is fighting relegation
01:17:40next minute is talking about
01:17:41the knockouts of the Champions League
01:17:42like which ones
01:17:43your priority as such
01:17:44but you know
01:17:45you're in the knockouts
01:17:46it's going to be tough
01:17:46so it's just the way that it goes
01:17:47and then the final thing
01:17:48it's important to point out
01:17:49is if you are the higher seed
01:17:51you are guaranteed
01:17:52the second leg at home
01:17:53which is an advantage
01:17:55but as we've seen tonight
01:17:56it's not
01:17:56these games can be quite
01:17:57finally poised
01:17:58so yeah it helps
01:17:59I think to have that second leg at home
01:18:00but there's not many easy ties left
01:18:02to be honest
01:18:03no
01:18:03and Arsenal
01:18:04will get
01:18:05Atalanta
01:18:06or Leverkusen
01:18:07so that is it
01:18:08thanks to Stephen
01:18:09and Rory
01:18:09and Nadem
01:18:10we will see you
01:18:11for the last 16
01:18:13goodnight
01:18:14now about that red card
01:18:15in Iceland
01:18:40in Iceland
01:18:43in Iceland
01:18:43in Iceland
01:18:44in Iceland
01:18:45they are
01:18:50inland
01:18:52yeah
