00:00You know, on the topic of the snowball fight, you know, I think just to first make very clear that
00:07when we're talking about our response, we're talking about emergency snow shovelers, we're talking about DSNY, one of the hearts
00:14of our city's response also to the first blizzard we've seen since 2016 have been the hardworking men and women
00:19of the NYPD.
00:20And that's not only in just continuing to keep New Yorkers safe, but also in leading the NYPD tow truck
00:26task force, which took more than a dozen ambulances out of being stuck, as well as MTA buses, as well
00:32as private vehicles, and were critical to ensure that we could keep this city moving.
00:37Now, what I saw yesterday in these videos was a snowball fight that got out of hand.
00:43I believe that our officers, just like any city workers, deserve respect.
00:46And, you know, once again, I think these are the views that I've shared both kind of in public as
00:51well as in any conversations I've had.
01:06I've said that what I saw was a snowball fight.
01:08It should be treated accordingly.
01:09It was one that got out of hand, but that's what it was.
01:16So, Mr. Mayor, are you willing to revise your statement regarding the snowball fight, given that this was not exactly
01:23a friendly back-and-forth snowball fight?
01:26The police that were there were not throwing any snowballs.
01:29They were getting pelted themselves.
01:31And, number two, have you considered or would you consider banning these crowdsourcing events because they can and sometimes do
01:41get out of hand?
01:43I'm not going to be banning snowball fights or organized snowball fights.
01:48I've shared my thoughts with New Yorkers, and I continue to believe that what we are seeing in this response
01:56this winter blizzard from the city workers as a whole,
01:58and that includes the hard-working men and women of the NYPD, is part of why the city is getting
02:02back on its feet, and I'm appreciative of that work.
