00:00We've got Zimbabwe around the right belt, he's going to be yours.
00:07Good evening. For you also, it's a must-win match tomorrow.
00:12How do you fancy your chances against India?
00:15Yeah, you're right. It's obviously a must-win game for us.
00:17It's also a must-win game for India.
00:21There's obviously a lot at stake here, being a World Cup game.
00:26And if we are to progress to the semi-finals, we both want to look at winning tomorrow's game.
00:31So, I think we're both excited.
00:34Obviously, we don't get to play India a lot.
00:36So, it's something that we really have been looking forward to
00:39and we'll grab the opportunity with both hands.
00:44Playing in India against India on a wicket which is more known to them,
00:51what will be the biggest challenge for your team?
00:55I mean, just like you said, playing India in India is a challenge in itself.
01:00They obviously got a home-ground advantage.
01:04But the added pressure of both teams needing to win tomorrow's game,
01:10pressure does funny things to teams.
01:13And obviously, it being a World Cup, there's that added pressure as well.
01:17So, yeah.
01:18I mean, we've obviously got our processes that we want to go through.
01:22And hopefully, we can execute those tomorrow.
01:25Ran, this side.
01:27Ran, of course, India have found a bit of difficulties against finger spinners.
01:32And Zimbabwe have some quality spinners.
01:34So, have you guys firstly watched those dismissals where India have struggled against off spin, finger spin?
01:40And are you looking to deploy the same tactics tomorrow here in Chennai?
01:44First of all, thank you for acknowledging that Zimbabwe's got some quality spinners.
01:48That's obviously a nice compliment.
01:50You know, obviously, we're doing a lot of our homework.
01:53You know, it's not like we're doing more homework or less homework just because it's India.
01:58We take each game as it comes.
02:01I won't give away too many secrets how we're going to approach tomorrow.
02:04But, yeah.
02:05Obviously, what you have said is spot on.
02:07And it is something that we are aware of.
02:11Yeah.
02:13Hi.
02:14Sikandar got a knock in the other game, quite a hard knock.
02:18So, is he fit to play tomorrow?
02:20And that bigger loss, how difficult is it to probably come back?
02:25And from that bigger loss and play against a team like India?
02:30Sikandar Raza is 100% playing.
02:33Good luck telling him that he's not going to play against India.
02:37Yeah, he's going to be playing.
02:40Hi Ryan.
02:41Can you just talk us about the strength and the variety in your bowling attack?
02:45You've got these two tall ballers in Blessing and Richard's now fit again.
02:49Like, again, we sort of spoke upon your spinners.
02:52Raza can ball mystery spin.
02:53You can ball leg spin.
02:54Graham is also there.
02:55So, could you just talk us about the depth in this attack?
02:58Which could probably come good in any pitch, irrespective of the conditions?
03:01Yeah, I think like you said there, we've obviously got a lot of options.
03:04And that's probably one of the advantages of the Zimbabwe line-up.
03:06Is we've got left arm seamer, right arm seamer.
03:10We've got couple leg spinners.
03:12We've got an off spinner.
03:13We've got a left arm offy.
03:15So, we do have obviously quite a lot of depth.
03:17And I think it will probably just come down to, you know, what are the match-ups, depending on the
03:22batters that are out there at the time.
03:25And obviously the combinations that we do look to go for.
03:28Yeah.
03:29Ryan, just wanted to talk about the resurgence of Zimbabwe cricket in this tournament and the way you guys are
03:34playing.
03:35Would you like to credit the year that has lead up to this tournament?
03:39Like you played, I know that this is a different format, but I think you played, you guys played test
03:43matches.
03:44I think that's more than India.
03:45You played quality opponents like India in Zimbabwe, South Africa, New Zealand.
03:50So, this leading up to this tournament, do you think that having played these quality opponents, you know, has led
03:56to your success?
03:57Yes, definitely.
03:58I think obviously playing high quality opponents regularly, as well as having, you know, a decent, not a decent, a
04:07very good bunch of players buying into what I would like to believe a good, a good blueprint and a
04:13good process.
04:15But obviously you still got to execute on the day.
04:17So, I think it's a combination of everything put together and obviously now reaping the rewards.
04:24Ryan.
04:25Hi.
04:25Sorry, sorry.
04:27Hi.
04:27I've been hearing that there's going to be a fair bit of due tomorrow in the evening.
04:32What kind of strategy do you have?
04:34And have you experienced playing under the B2 before?
04:39Yes, definitely.
04:40We've obviously played a lot of night games.
04:44We played in Pakistan a few months ago where due was a big factor, where obviously you, as a bowling
04:51unit, you try and change the ball as often as you can because it does get a little bit difficult
04:54to bowl with.
04:57And yeah, it's obviously something that we have come into this game prepared for.
05:01Ultimately, at the end of the day, though, you've got to still go and execute.
05:04As much as you are prepared, you have to execute on the day.
05:09Ryan, how important is adaptability for you guys because the kind of wickets you are getting in Colombo and then
05:15after that coming to Mumbai, it's a completely different kind of wicket there.
05:18And then coming to Chennai, can you talk us about this, how your preparations and the plannings and the tactics
05:24and your bowling attack will differ from a Colombo to a Mumbai and to Chennai because three completely different kind
05:31of surfaces.
05:32Yeah, it's a good point. Good question as well. Obviously, the main difference coming here to India is going to
05:38be the boundary sizes in comparison to Premadasa and Kandy and SAC, the three grounds there in Sri Lanka.
05:47So dimensions play a big part of it. And I think obviously you saw the game against West Indies where
05:54the ball does come on a lot better here in India.
05:58So it is probably a lot more free flowing. A lot more boundaries are expected to be hit.
06:03There's obviously different methods on how you want to go about it.
06:07You know, whereas in Sri Lanka, we probably try to keep as many wickets up top as possible, grind through
06:13the middle and then go hard at the back end.
06:16Whereas, you know, but then again, in saying that obviously every team's got their strengths, whereas you play the Caribbeans,
06:21they've got that firepower and the flare where they almost go from ball one.
06:24Obviously, India has also got that firepower where they obviously go really hard on the power play.
06:29And if they don't lose wickets, they've got guys that can go hard throughout.
06:33So I think obviously looking to try and take wickets, taking wickets is obviously one of the biggest momentum breakers.
06:40And obviously kills the strike rates and economy. So that's obviously one way of going about it.
06:47It's obviously we don't know exactly what the wicket is going to do. So it's about being adaptable and taking
06:54that into account.
06:56But it's making sure that we can do that as quick as possible and not just try and adapt after
07:0215, 20 overs where it can be too late.
07:04And then you're chasing too many or you haven't put enough on the board.
07:08Right. You're right. Yeah.
07:11You all took down Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka. So what can you learn from that about how to silence
07:17a home crowd and how to go about?
07:19So what was that at the beginning?
07:20I said you took down Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka.
07:22So just the lessons from there on how to go about silencing the home crowd against a favorite side.
07:29It'll be quite dangerous to answer how I'm going to silence India in India.
07:34No, I mean, obviously, playing against Sri Lanka in Sri Lanka with home ground advantage is very difficult.
07:41But ultimately, how we approach tomorrow's game is going to be no different to how we've approached the games before
07:46in the sense that we have our processes.
07:49We've got our game plan. Yes, it does change here and there according to the conditions and your opponents.
07:55But ultimately, we want to play the game that we know how to play.
08:00And we have found a lot of success doing it that way.
08:03So we would obviously want to focus on as much as what our strengths are, but taking into account the
08:08challenges that the opposition does present.
08:12Can you speak about Blessing, how he has been one of your standout bowlers this World Cup and his action
08:19and variation, how does it make it so effective in T20 format?
08:24I mean, being six foot nine does help.
08:29I have to give a lot more credit to Blessing than he has received because he's been out for about
08:34four to six months prior to this tournament.
08:37And he obviously had a lot of doubts coming in with his own body and how he was feeling and
08:43stuff like that.
08:44So, you know, the success that he has had with the ball has been amazing.
08:50And it's not something that has only just come about now.
08:53He has been doing this in international cricket previously.
08:56So, you know, he's obviously someone that we really do.
09:02We're really happy having in our squad.
09:04He's one of those bowlers that's obviously six foot nine, you know, and he does kind of come a little
09:09bit from beyond the perpendicular.
09:10So, jagging the ball back into the righties and across the lefties with that steep bounce does propose quite a
09:16lot of a challenge for the batters.
09:17So, I'm a lot happier knowing that he's on my team and not on the opposition.
09:22Just to follow up, why was he out for performance?
09:25He had a back injury.
09:28Yeah.
09:29Yeah.
09:30Hi, Ryan.
09:32Hi, Ryan.
09:33All the best for tomorrow.
09:35So, you've had unbeaten in the group stages and then had a defeat in Mumbai.
09:39So, how has the group reacted to that and what are the learnings from that game as you look forward
09:43to facing India now?
09:46Sorry, missed the beginning part there.
09:47Yeah, unbeaten in the group stages but then had a defeat in Mumbai.
09:50So, how has the group reacted to that defeat and what are the learnings from that game as you prepare
09:55to face India in Chennai?
09:57To be honest, I think we can only take positives from that defeat.
10:03It sounds weird, but we hadn't really had a bad game until then.
10:08So there is massive learnings in that.
10:10And in saying that, India obviously also had their bad game against South Africa.
10:14So we're both looking to bounce back.
10:18And no better place than to do that tomorrow.
10:22Ryan, you spoke about being aware of India not being very good against spin in the tournament so far.
10:28But also, there is a bit of contrast in the fact that this particular venue has not been the best
10:32for spinners either.
10:33It has the worst strike rate and average for spinners.
10:36So how do you balance that out when you go in as a bowling attack with so much variety in
10:41spin?
10:42I never said India better spin. You guys did.
10:46But, yeah, I mean, like I said before, obviously, it's something that we have taken into account.
10:51Obviously, we've done our homework.
10:54And it's something that we would be silly to ignore going into tomorrow's game.
11:00It's also about the match-ups.
11:03You know, what are their strengths? What are our strengths?
11:05And how can we expose maybe any small little advantages that we have in our favor?
11:12So, yeah, it's something that we do have to take into account.
11:19How important will be the toss tomorrow?
11:23Because in Mumbai, we saw that after winning the toss, you decided to bowl first.
11:29Because you're knowing that the West Indies have a very good batsman and a long betting line.
11:36The same thing is here also.
11:39And so what will be, how much it will be important for you if you win the toss, whether going
11:44for chase or going to score more?
11:48Yeah, it's a good point, to be honest.
11:50I think it kind of addresses the question that the lady asked at the beginning, in the sense of how
11:55does due play a part in the toss?
11:58Obviously, maximizing, you know, bowling first does help with the due factor coming in.
12:04Because no one really wants to bowl at the back end in the second innings with a slippery ball.
12:08So it will take a part of the match.
12:13But then again, maybe we want to bat first, maybe we want to bowl first.
12:18It also depends on kind of what our strengths are.
12:21But again, we are aware of the due factor, which is probably more prominent here in Chennai than it is
12:25in Mumbai.
12:29All right, thank you.
