00:01The new Newton-Lewillows Police Station has been officially handed over to Merseyside Police,
00:06marking a significant milestone in local policing provision. Built over 10 months on time and within
00:12budget, the station replaces the previous facility which had been operational since the 1970s and no
00:18longer met operational requirements. The station includes a general inquiry office, interview and
00:23meeting rooms, sustainable energy efficient technology and upgraded workspaces for officers
00:28and staff. Commissioners and local officials have highlighted the improvements in operational
00:33efficiency, community engagement and officer wellbeing. Once operational, residents will be
00:39able to access services more directly, with an emphasis on visible neighbourhood policing.
00:44The facility has been designed to be accessible, modern and environmentally conscious,
00:49supporting Merseyside Police's Net Zero ambitions while improving public engagement.
00:55Internal preparations are ongoing before the station opens to the public.
00:59The project involves consultation with the local community to ensure the design aligns with both
01:05functional needs and also historic context. Officers will be based in a facility that supports
01:11collaboration, public interaction and rapid response capabilities. Sustainable design measures include
01:18energy efficient systems and optimised building layouts to enhance both operational effectiveness,
01:23environmental performance and environmental performance.
