00:06It has been a strong start out of the
00:09All-Star break for the Oklahoma City
00:10Thunder wins against the Brooklyn
00:12Nets and the Cleveland Cavaliers at
00:15home but tonight we are back out on
00:18the road Toronto Canada north of the
00:20border one of the great cities of
00:22North America taking on Scotty Barnes
00:25and the Toronto Raptors a couple of
00:27all-stars if you include Brandon
00:29Ingram as we come to you from
00:31Scotiabank Arena welcome inside
00:35everybody alongside my broadcast
00:37part of Michael Cage I'm Chris
00:38Fisher and Michael the Thunder have
00:40come out of the gate strong yet again
00:41that win on Sunday against the
00:43Cleveland Cavaliers started with a
00:45very hot start Mark Dagnall was sure
00:47to mention that it was the Thunder
00:48that landed the first punch now
00:50scoring Cleveland 40 to 25 in the
00:52first quarter a big reason why they
00:54came out with a victory they started
00:56playing with house money early in
00:57this ball game and that's not
00:59over with in the first quarter but
01:00you gotta love the way they were able
01:02to start against one of the hottest
01:03teams in the NBA the Cleveland
01:05Cavaliers that won seven in a row but
01:07no problem for the Thunder as they got
01:09off to that great start with those 40
01:10points in that first quarter and it
01:13continues to turn over the Cleveland
01:15Cavaliers just one after another it
01:17became an avalanche and really the game
01:19started to tip in favor of the Thunder
01:21early and as the Cavs started to make a
01:23run no problem the Thunder still kept
01:25their cool they knocked down the threes
01:27they turned them over my goodness 31
01:29points off of turnovers is a solid
01:31number and then 10 turnovers in that
01:33first quarter everybody getting involved
01:35on the offensive end as we take a look at
01:38some of the numbers all 10 players
01:40scored Michael it was an all-around
01:42performance you talk about the counter to
01:44the counter 17 points off turnovers just in
01:46that first quarter alone but you look at
01:48the 21 threes that's a big number that
01:50resonates with all of the turnovers of
01:51the total points that you got but when
01:54you talk about two guys you give the
01:55game ball to how about these two guys
01:57you're Kaysen Wallace and Isaiah Joe
01:58yeah Kaysen Wallace a career high 10
02:00assists Isaiah Joe had a career high
02:02five steals both of those guys were
02:04excellent in that victory let's talk
02:06about tonight's opponent the Toronto
02:08Raptors the 34 and 23 they're fifth in
02:10the Eastern Conference but overall Mike
02:12when you look at the body of work
02:13they've had a really solid year well
02:15they got a lot of balance on this
02:16roster to two all-stars in Brandon
02:18Ingram and of course Scotty Barnes I
02:20mean this is a team that really can go
02:22at you in numbers they turn you over
02:24they get out in transition they're
02:26fifth in the Eastern Conference but
02:27what you like most of them they're the
02:29number one team that's scoring points
02:30in transition and it's not just one
02:32guy they do it on a variety of ways
02:34after they turn you over really stands
02:37out in that graphic four different
02:39players averaging over 17 points
02:41including two all-stars Scotty Barnes and
02:44Brandon Ingram give dark head coach
02:46Darko Ryachovic a former Thunder
02:48assistant who's the head coach credit
02:49for that he's reshaped his team and he's
02:52put some solid players in there along
02:53the two all-stars the offense really
02:55stands out the Thunder know just how
02:57good this Raptors team can be it was
02:59Toronto who took home the victory back
03:02but these two teams met on January 25th in
03:05Oklahoma City so a lot of those guys can
03:07do some damage tonight we're going to wrap
03:10up the season series and we'll hear from
03:12head coach Mark Dagnall when we come
03:14back to downtown Toronto
03:19mint runs deep and by your Oklahoma

03:30head coach Mark Dagnall in tonight's OU
03:32health coaches corner you know they're
03:37high ball pressure team they're really
03:39switchable but really aggressive with
03:41the switches they're opportunistic with
03:43double teams against top end players
03:47but also against anybody you know
03:48they'll they'll just pull and react so
03:51they're great read and react defense
03:52aggressive defense physical defense
03:54and as a result they can dictate the
03:57pace of the game force turnovers and
03:59that gets them out on the break a lot of
04:02the Raptors success starts on the
04:04defensive end and then they get in
04:06transition the Thunder will try to slow
04:07them down tonight on the road lot of
04:10some in Toronto but a great city to
04:12come to a city that loves its sports
04:15the Thunder getting ready to take on
04:17the Toronto Raptors tonight starting
04:20lineups brought to you by Kia first for

04:24that great performance against Cleveland
04:26in the backcourt and Isaiah Joe has
04:28been as hot as anybody on the planet
04:30shooting those threes Isaiah
04:31Hartenstein will play the five he'll be
04:33complimented in the frontcourt Jen
04:35Holmgren at the four and Lou Dort
04:37rounding out Mark Dagnolz starting five
04:41for the Toronto Raptors announced by
04:44head coach Darko Ryakovich in year
04:47number three Emmanuel quickly he was big in
04:49that Raptors win in OKC with six threes so
04:53he could be dangerous RJ Barrett the
04:55Canadian Colin Murray boils first round
04:58pick the Raptors don't play big and so
05:01Scottie Barnes and Brandon Ingram they man
05:04the frontcourt and that'll be Darko Ryakovich's
05:07starting five for the first time tonight let's
05:09send it over and say love to our very own
05:11Nick Gallo thanks Chris as you and Michael
05:14know the NBA game is completely
05:16interconnected so if you're always pulling
05:18the ball out of the net on defense that's
05:20really going to hamper your offensive flow just the
05:23same if you're not getting a good shot up on
05:25offense it's going to make it really hard for you to
05:27get back on the defensive end and that's the crux of
05:30what this game is going to come down to tonight as
05:33you'll see here in tonight's Ford back guys Toronto boasting
05:36the best fast break offense in the league this season the
05:39Thunder once again the best transition defense now
05:42guys Mark Dagnolz told me pregame that OKC cannot allow the Raptors
05:46aggressive pressure on the defensive end to control the
05:49tempo of this game that means for OKC crisp execution and
05:54a quality shot each trip down court yeah thank you Nick and
05:58that's exactly what Mark Dagnolz referenced in his pregame
06:01availability as a priority for OKC you see you see Chet
06:05Holmgren he was questionable coming in or back soreness good to
06:09see him in the starting lineup ready to go Alex Caruso also came in
06:14questionable he is expected to be available as it's the front end
06:19of a back-to-back and a tough one two very good teams out of the
06:23Eastern Conference God how big was Chet on Sunday afternoon with
06:27those 17 points 15 rebounds against the hottest team in the
06:31Association as he controls the tip for the Thunder he'll get
06:33first possession here inside Scotiabank arena the lone trip to Toronto and
06:43Isaiah Joe out on the perimeter five seconds someone's gonna have to make
06:48something happen it is Joe lets it go from three no good and it pops out as
06:54Barrett slowed down there is quickly in transition and he's got the three right
06:59out of the blocks for Toronto as we mentioned Mike we had six threes against
07:04the Thunder back in January yeah he's one of those guys too that could get it going he's
07:10also a playmaker as well Holmgren with the hard take missed it on the run and it
07:17pops out to Ingram Ingram on the move quickly again at that time that's what the
07:25Raptors want to do get out of transition quickly they don't like to set it up they
07:30want to get out get those open looks got a couple of looks already as Hardenstein
07:35would get fouled that's what the one thing you want to do is just make them
07:39slow it down a little see what you can do in a half-court game that's a
07:43different game than when you just run it up and down you know free playing the
07:49Thunder don't mind playing quickly Michael but what you don't want to do is allow the
07:54Raptors to get up and down the floor where they flourish and the Thunder have
08:00been so good at limiting transition offense so it's going to be a major
08:06priority all the hands of case and Wallace coming off that tennis this game on
08:10Sunday okay he was fantastic 22 points to go with it while it's down the lane
08:17with the hard take in the finish with the left hand took a hard hit to the arm no
08:23foul no fouls been called so far almost two minutes gone officials let the play
08:29here in the top part of this first quarter see if that will continue I was as
08:35aggressive of a take as you will see and Wallace gaining more confidence with the
08:39ball in his hands Ingram from behind the three-point line nails a three
08:43that's something that the Raptors don't shoot a whole lot of is three-point shots
08:51Hartstein the push shot and he had some arc on it and it's in
08:56nice little you got to be able to handle that pressure Mark Dageno talked about it
09:00it's a good job so far with the Thunder not turning the ball over to the Raptors
09:05despite the intense pressure
09:08Ingram off and Hartstein came down to help out on the boards as Wallace on the move
09:15trying to make something happen on the deck but Barnes defending as Hartstein
09:21runner have no problem running offense through him in that high hub but it's
09:26Holmgren off the deck tough tip and blocked by Barnes initially three seconds
09:31Dorit's gonna have to make something happen on the drive Wow reverse way up
09:35there and that'll be a 24-second violation
09:41now Mark Dageno continues to say Michael that the Thunder are gonna try to be
09:46adaptive and learn about this team with a lot of those offensive engines still out
09:52well and they've done a great job so far folks not a good job you got all your
09:57ball handling basically not available as well as your top two scorers
10:05and we get a foul on the floor also one of your top subs coming off the bench but
10:13this team has made no
10:17basketball being shorthanded almost on a night-to-night basis
10:23but Mark Dageno has said that one of the reasons why that the Thunder have
10:26endured
10:28up to this point with all those guys out they've got a lot of stabilizing
10:31forces guys that they've had confidence in there's a tough take good defense and
10:37the three too strong that's the right guy you want taking it
10:41he looked really uncomfortable Scotty Barnes and not taking that three as good as he is
10:48Michael that is the weak spot of his his game and he's as versatile as anybody in
10:53the NBA but he's under 30 percent shooting the three to your point yeah here's hard
10:58sign just a little bit too much movement after that DHO you know we call that DHO let's go to
11:03coaching school dribble handoff folks so if I say that for the rest of the broadcast
11:07don't ask me what is the DHO mean cage I've already told you all right we need more
11:12activated make sure that's not the first one for the last one okay coaching 101
11:24thought about the three trying to get to the free-throw line so he keeps it up and
11:29it takes a couple of bounces on the rim as Ingram was a late addition to the
11:35all-star game the floater inside Wallace is going to commit the foul on the
11:41backside as he was going for that steal and so he would get called for the
11:47personal foul Wallace more steals Michael than personal fouls on the season
11:55almost got one on that possession five steals in that matinee win against the
12:02Cavs Cleveland came in as one of the hottest teams in the association that won
12:06seven in a row
12:10Agram contested Dort was right up on him tapped out Barrett tries a three and nails a three
12:17and Mark Degno calls the timeout all three buckets for Toronto have come
12:22behind the three-point line first time out of the game paint touches collapses the defense opens up
12:28those outside looks for the Thunder well get back on defense we've talked about that
12:32the Raptors are number one in transition points in the association and in points off turnovers
12:37Thunder leads the NBA in points off turnovers had a massive 31 points on Sunday afternoon
12:42against the Cavs for the ninth time they've gone 30 plus points off turnovers in the game
12:48that's pretty good and they would love to do that here tonight but this Toronto team does not turn it
12:52over a whole lot and you see Mark Degno so much confidence and he always says even with guys
13:00out there there's a certain standard that we want to play to and there's a lot of
13:04controllables that are going to allow us to compete and win basketball games
13:10but at the same time you've got guys and here's a good indication here Michael you've got a guy like
13:15Isaiah Joe
13:16who's bringing the ball up the floor and he might not normally do that if you've got Jaylen Williams or
13:21SGA
13:21there's a nice take and a good slice right to the cup by Case and Wallace
13:25that's just a smart control drive just kind of overlooking the defense
13:30saw that the kick you know that what lane was wide open it's been tough to get
13:33inside all those type of plays against this tight Raptors defense here
13:40and Barry is going to get the soft bounce as it comes in
13:48so another three as Mark Stein off the drive and dish from Wallace who set him up perfectly
13:54that's good once again collapsing getting inside that's what those paint touches we're talking about folks
14:00just just crack the paint touch it with your sneaker good things happen shift the defense got to make a
14:06move
14:08there's another drive by Case and Wallace where we see him making a play off the deck
14:13that's going to be an offensive foul going the other way it's going to go on Barnes
14:18how about this talk about going playing downhill gets inside Case and Wallace
14:24once again getting inside three white shirts collapsed on him we talked about that collapse the defense and it's shuffle
14:31you got options you can kick out the shooters where you find some of the bigs around the basket
14:35that time he did the ladder Hardenstein on the board for the first time tonight with those two points
14:41well Case and Wallace was asked about his playmaking
14:44he said it just comes down to making the right read which for a young player doesn't have the ball
14:48in his hands a lot
14:50might not be an easy thing to do that time he set up Holmgren
14:52Jones on the baseline back outside door catch fire three that is good
14:59nice ball boom it's setting up the triple I tell you you can wash rinse and repeat that
15:05possession for the Thunder
15:11door always likes
15:13coming back to his home nation
15:15look at that defense he is all over
15:17Ingram Ingram hits the deck
15:19and still able to connect
15:21that's exactly what you want to do make him work for every bucket he's got
15:25Wallace floats that pass
15:27Wiggins wide open for the three
15:29Holmgren battling for the board
15:30out of bounds
15:32and that's what that extra effort will give you an extra possession
15:35that's
15:35how about this that ball move you were talking about partner
15:39collapsing the defense once again a paint touch by Isaiah Joe
15:43that's the third time for the Thunder
15:44crack that paint kick out to shooters
15:47get a lob over to the bigs
15:49you got options
15:51and Wiggins who is so smart on those backdoor cuts was trying to sneak in on that inbounds play
15:58but those are the ways Michael that the Thunder
16:01gonna have to generate offense keeping that ball movement
16:06keeping everybody in rhythm it's one of the keys
16:08certainly what we've seen here
16:10as that pass got deflected
16:12up ahead it is Barrett behind everybody
16:15and there is a transition opportunity for Toronto in exhibit A
16:19that is exactly what the Thunder don't want to have happen
16:22that's what the Raptors do
16:25turn you over like the Thunder do
16:29Wiggins on the heart close out
16:32contorts
16:32no good
16:33Wallace
16:34almost had it but it got scraped up by quickly
16:41Amokalashvili into the game for the Raptors
16:43I just had to get that out you know
16:48you gotta say it once
16:50that's one of the longest names in the associate
16:52one of them folks
16:53well that's a deep three
16:55that time by R.J. Barrett
16:56he knocks it down
16:58Raptors not really a three-point shooting team
17:00they're 26 in the association
17:03and just over 34 percent
17:05Wallace has to dive forward to keep possession

17:19against this Raptors pressure
17:20those passes has to be crisp
17:22and they have to have some heat on them too

17:34that's a good point though Michael because
17:37there's plenty of speed and
17:39length on this Raptors defense
17:41one of the reasons why they're
17:42one of the top defensive teams in the NBA
17:45you just can't be casual on the offensive end
17:47especially when you're relying so much on that ball movement
17:49and they rely on that heavily too because they're not a tall team
17:52they're a very quick mobile team
17:56not playing a traditional five
17:58Thunder with the tip
18:00as Caruso into the game
18:03first action for him
18:05Dorff off the deck
18:06pulls up
18:07off on the three
18:10and Barrett who
18:12already has more points in this game
18:14than he did against
18:15Milwaukee
18:17they have his lowest season output
18:18he's feeling it now
18:20but he missed that three
18:21good box out by Wallace
18:22now he wants the move
18:25getting it up the floor quickly to Dorff
18:29and now the Thunder will have to run a little bit of offense
18:31trying to spread it out
18:33Dorff is
18:35hip checked and fouled
18:36you know what I like about that possession
18:38now Luke Dorff's got free throws
18:39but the crisp passing we were talking about
18:42it moves the defense
18:43because the defense what
18:44we all know
18:45the ball moves faster than the man
18:47so you can make a quick sharp pass
18:50initially
18:50and another one
18:51all of a sudden the defense has to shift twice
18:54and they just can't get behind the basketball
18:56and that's how Lou Dorff was able to get that drive to the basket
18:59there was just no one home
19:02because of that excellent ball movement that we saw
19:04on display on Sunday afternoon

21:24who is in the midst of
21:26one of his most consistent
21:27hot shooting streaks
21:28of his career

21:53do a tremendous job
21:54of creating action
21:55we just play off of them
21:56and their high IQ
21:57makes it really easy

21:59and stay aggressive guys

24:00especially given how physical
24:02this game has been so far
24:04a lot of holding grabbing going on

24:16and Toronto able to capitalize

26:52his first game on a Saturday
26:54not easy to do but he is look
26:56comfortable
26:58Mark Daniels said he's been
26:59threading
27:00that needle between playing with
27:02confidence but also within the
27:04team not easy to do for a young
27:07player
