00:00Terrifying cartel violence is spreading across Mexico after the country's military took out
00:05the notorious cartel boss known as El Mencho. At least 20 of Mexico's 31 states have seen
00:11violent clashes since the death of Nemesio Oseguera Cervantes, the head of the Jalisco
00:17New Generation cartel. As of Monday, at least 30 people had died as a result of the bloodshed.
00:22U.S. citizens, particularly those in and around the resort town of Puerto Vallarta,
00:26continue to be told to shelter in place, though long lines of tourists trying to flee have been
00:31seen at area airports. And we're also learning more about that Mexican military operation that
00:36took out El Mencho and sparked all of this brutality. It's something out of a spy novel.
00:41Intelligence agencies, including American ones, were able to help locate this elusive drug kingpin
00:46by tracking one of his lovers and a man close to her as she traveled to El Mencho's secluded resort
00:53compound. The girlfriend left, but El Mencho and his men stayed. The Mexican military then swooped in,
00:59a gunfight and a chase through the nearby woods then ensued. Four cartel members were killed,
01:04three others critically injured. After the raid, it was revealed that President Trump quietly convinced
01:09Mexico to hand over nearly 100 cartel leaders, including El Mencho's brother, to stand trial here
01:15in the U.S. The Justice Department says any who are convicted will serve their sentences here
01:20and will then be deported back to their country of origin.
