00:09That's according to the country's vice premier who led the negotiations.
00:36Under the deal, the U.S. agreed to lower Taiwan's tariffs to 15 percent with no stacking.
00:42And Taiwan committed to over 500 billion U.S. dollars in U.S.-based investments, purchases, and loans.
00:49Despite the court ruling, Chen says the direction of U.S. tariff policies will continue.
00:54Trump has already issued new global 15 percent tariffs under new legal authority.
00:58He later warned countries against backing away from recently negotiated trade deals,
01:03threatening to hit them with higher duties under different trade laws.
01:07Meanwhile, some lawmakers in Taiwan's opposition parties are calling to renegotiate the Taiwan-U.S. trade deal,
01:13or at least delay the review in the legislature.
01:29Lawmakers have just returned to work after the Lunar New Year holiday,
01:33with the government pushing for the trade deal to be approved.
01:36Whether the agreement gets passed, given the changes in U.S. trade policy,
01:40is now a question for Taiwan's lawmakers.
