Coast guard rescuers in southern Taiwan rushed on Tuesday (Feb 24) to save a pod of pygmy killer whales that had stranded on a beach in Pingtung county.

Four of the 11 whales that were found on shore were already dead when rescuers arrived after being tipped off by members of the public.
