00:03What was this experience, you've been here before, but obviously the trials was different.
00:07Yes, yes, no, it was, you know, fun.
00:10I mean, three starts wasn't really on the table, but, you know, we just have to, you know, go out
00:14there and give us, you know, what it's given us and, you know, just kind of, you know, block everything
00:19out and try to just, you know, keep the race plan that you guys in the beginning and go out
00:22there and try next.
00:23How do you keep that mentality, like, just staying so locked in, even when there's something like, sorry, three, like,
00:30starts to it?
00:32Yeah, I mean, we kind of practice some things like that in practice sometimes.
00:35Like, I mean, obviously when everybody's here during the collegiate season, sometimes we have, like, you know, long holds, quick
00:40ones, you know, kind of just trying to, you know, mimic like anything can happen, like, when you go out
00:44there.
00:44So, obviously, like, we try it before, like, but it's definitely different when you get out there and you're racing
00:49and it's like, oh, you got to do your whole race routine again.
00:51But, yeah, you know, I just try to, you know, always, my coach always tells me to just focus on
00:55my lane, focus on myself, like, and that's whether or not, you know, the starts are going as planned or
00:59not.
01:00And, you know, just going out there and try to execute and, you know, block everything out, like, kind of
01:04just imagine that you're out there at practice and it's just you.
01:06For that to happen on this stage, though, I mean, is that easier said than done or do you feel
01:09like you're able to do that relatively successfully?
01:11It's definitely easier said than done.
01:13I think, I mean, kind of being at home on my track helps a little bit.
01:17I mean, the crowd is there.
01:19Everybody's there.
01:19I've ran on this track a million times.
01:21So, it's kind of like, obviously, it's a different stage, but it is definitely easier said than done.
01:25But, yeah, I think kind of being at home kind of helped a little bit.
01:28You know, I'm like, you know, it's okay.
01:29I've run on this track.
01:30Like, I practice here every single day.
01:31Like, you know, you just kind of have to block everything out and just keep going.
01:34I think three of you competing with the O on are, you know, three for three getting through.
01:38What's it like to just, for you guys to be getting this experience and then are you feeding off each
01:42other at all, kind of?
01:43No, yeah, for sure.
01:44I mean, the first one I saw was Shelby when she got through.
01:46So, yeah, I got to see that before I had to head over here.
01:49So, I was like, okay, that's really good.
01:50You know, we got, you know, ducks through.
01:52So, that's always, you know, what we're trying to do is just survive in advance, live to see another day.
01:55So, yeah, we definitely feed off of that.
01:57And, you know, we have a great social media team, but, you know, they're always hyping us up.
02:00So, yeah.
02:01I'm going to help but notice that you were watching that final off.
02:04Obviously, you've done other issues with Carrie Richardson.
02:06Yeah.
02:07Does it kind of sometimes seem surreal that you're here in this moment, obviously, to be in this spot and
02:11you're racing against some of the best women literally across the country right now?
02:15Yeah, no, it definitely is kind of a surreal experience.
02:17I mean, most of the field is older than me, so it is a little different.
02:22I mean, I've watched them run, you know, multiple times, like, since I've been in college.
02:25And then, obviously, them being pro and everything after that.
02:27But, yeah, I mean, there's some ladies here that have run, you know, the fastest times in the world and
02:31have just, like, accolade lists that are, you know, from here to forever on.
02:35So, you know, it is kind of surreal.
02:37But, you know, I obviously know that now that my, you know, collegiate season is, you know, wrapping up, it's
02:42kind of like, well, this is what you're going in next after that.
02:44So, it's kind of like you have to get prepared for that and, you know, be able to go out
02:48there and put your best before and against whoever's out there.
02:50Did you talk to any of your seniors before this heat, like English or Jenna, like what the moment is
02:55like since former Ducks?
02:56And did they give you an impact or did you have this conversation?
02:59Not directly before this race, but I have talked to them beforehand, kind of like after Pac-12s and all
03:05of that.
03:05You know, it was our last Pac-12 championships, you know, and we won and we did really good at
03:09that meet.
03:09So, I talked to them, some of them after that.
03:11You know, I've talked to Deja and all of them that have, you know, kind of been out here, been
03:15around.
03:15You know, I've talked to Raven, you know, we don't run the same events.
03:17But, yeah, you know, she's been out there.
03:19So, yeah, I've talked to her as well.
03:21You know, they always just, you know, give the great advice.
03:23You know, they've been here, they're ducks.
03:24And, you know, they're always, you know, rooting for me as well, just like I did.
03:27When it's that close that you had many poor people in that event, you could have easily won that.
03:32How much confidence does that give you heading into the rest of this event?
03:36No, yeah, it definitely gives me a lot of confidence.
03:38I mean, I was out there in late night, so it kind of just felt like I was kind of
03:41by myself anyway.
03:42And obviously crossing the line, like, then seeing how many people were crossing, I can't really see anybody.
03:46Yeah, it was like my left side, except for, like, who's right next to me.
03:49But, yeah, no, obviously saying that is like how close all the times where it's like, okay, this really is,
03:53you know, anybody's racing, obviously.
03:55You know, tomorrow, like, wherever the keeps, you know, like, are shaped out to be, it's probably, you know, going
03:59to be something similar to that.
04:00You know, if it does give me confidence, you know, I can race against the best out here.
04:04So, yeah, just like I always say, like, go out there next to me.
04:07Is it a nice, you know, fresh breath there, but at least not looking into the events in a singular
04:12day after the NCAA outdoors?
04:13And kind of how maybe did that help you for a moment like this, where you don't have to worry
04:17about doing a free event?
04:18No, yeah, for sure.
04:19It's definitely different.
04:20It is kind of a sigh of relief.
04:22It's kind of like, hey, out of one race, you get to go home.
04:24Like, you know, that's completely different from what I've been doing the last, like, two months.
04:28It's been, you know, just race after race after race, you know, and then go home.
04:32But, you know, this is definitely different.
04:33And being able to just focus on one event and, you know, trying to go out there and just, you
04:37know, give everything I have.
04:38And, you know, it's definitely different not having a relay before this, like, sometimes you use that as a warm
04:43-up.
04:43But it also is nice kind of not having to be like, oh, I've got to go cool down and
04:46get ready for the two.
04:47It's like, you know, we've got a couple of days before we have to worry about that.
04:49So, yeah, no, it's definitely different.
04:51I think it does.
04:52We have a little bit of an advantage, some of the college kids, you know, after, you know, having long
04:56collegiate seasons
04:56and running so many races, so many rounds against, obviously, you know, some of the greatest women in the NCAA
05:01as well.
05:01So I think we have a little bit of an advantage of that, too, like, just like, okay, you know,
05:05our bodies are used to, like, keep it going year after year.
05:08So I think it's nice, you know, just having one race and then obviously tomorrow hopefully have it, too.
05:13So, yeah.
05:13One more question.
05:14Did you prepare differently because you had only one race?
05:17What did you have to do beforehand?
05:20Everything is kind of the same.
05:22I mean, obviously, like I said, usually it's a relay before this.
05:24But our warm-up is, you know, kind of the same, like, for that, obviously, like, with the relay, you
05:29know, you got your teammates and you're doing handoffs
05:31and you're doing little stuff like that.
05:32But for the most part, yeah, it's pretty much the same.
05:35But, yeah, just having to focus, like, really heavily, like, on starts and executing all of that and obviously the
05:41bottom end
05:41and just really being able to pick down, like, you know, my race plan and, you know, try to go
05:45after that instead of having to.
