00:02Ten members of the North East Ambulance Service have been awarded long service medals and
00:07bars in recognition of careers spanning between 20 and 40 years in frontline and operational
00:14roles.
00:15The honours were presented on behalf of the King at the service's annual ceremony.
00:19Among those recognised was Head of Operations Andrea Raine, who has worked across Teesside
00:26for two decades and said her focus has included responding to the effects of socio-economic
00:31deprivation on health outcomes.
00:35Paramedic Mark Hodgson, who joined the service in Bladen in 1985, received a long service
00:41medal and bar marking 40 years.
00:43The service says his career has included postings at stations in Washington, Gateshead, Sunderland,
00:50Wallsend, Cramlington and Blythe.
00:53Emergency Operations Centre delivery manager Julie Horner, based in Newcastle, was also
00:59honoured for 20 and 30 years of service and previously oversaw medical cover for the Great
01:05North Run.
01:07Advanced practitioner David Graham, who joined in 1989, describes three decades of work in
01:13Sunderland as demanding but rewarding.
01:15Lord Lieutenant of Tyne and Weir, Lucy Winskill, presented the awards.
01:20The ceremony forms part of an annual event recognising sustained service across clinical and control
01:27room teams.
