00:00After more than a year of closure, Northumberland Park train station in North Tyneside has opened.
00:07The station on the Northumberland line now allows services from Shiremoor into Newcastle in around
00:1310 minutes. The line started carrying passengers from Ashington to Newcastle in December 2024,
00:20but Northumberland Park and Bedlington remained unfinished. Buses and metros already served the
00:26interchange, but the train significantly cuts journey times. Northern Rail's commercial director
00:33said the station will let passengers change between trains and the metro for direct connections
00:38to the airport and other destinations. Bedlington station is due to open on the 29th of March.
