00:00I think it's pretty glorious, really. You look at the best British film nominees, you know, the 10 best British
00:07film nominees, and it's sort of a panoply of British and Irish and international filmmaking talent producers, directors, behind the
00:18camera talent cast.
00:19And then you put that alongside those, you know, big blockbusters, the one battle after another, Marty Supreme, Sinners. The
00:29range is fabulous. It's been a really good year for watching, hasn't it?
00:34I feel like the fact is so singular in how it kind of brings into the fold British films that
00:40maybe aren't getting recognition.
00:42I hope so. I really hope so.
00:43But then also is inclusive of films that are getting recognised as international owners. What do you see as the
00:49fact of the volume kind of putting a leg on both of the pictures?
00:53I think you've summed it up. You know, we absolutely see ourselves as an international body. You know, I think
01:00one in five of our members does not live in the UK.
01:03We have representation in North America, in Scotland, in Wales, all around the world. So that international element is very
01:10important.
01:10And it's lovely to welcome so many sort of nominees from all over the world to the ceremony today.
01:16But I think we are also the British Academy. And therefore, to be able to encourage our voters to watch
01:25as wide a range of films and make sure that our voters, our academicians are as diverse as needed to
01:34reflect the society we live in.
01:36Those are the important things to me. And we've worked incredibly hard over the last few years to achieve that.
01:42The job is never done. There's always work to do.
