00:00Newly appointed Perikatan National Chairman Datuk Seri Dr. Ahmad Samsuri Mokhtar said on Sunday he aims to create a political
00:09consensus for all Malaysians across diverse religions, races, ethnicities and socio-economic backgrounds.
00:17In his statement issued after his appointment, the Terengganu Mentri Besar and past Vice President said he is also determined
00:25to consolidate the coalition.
00:27He said the foundation enabled the coalition to secure a significant number of seats in the last general election.
00:35He described the new responsibility as immense, heavy and challenging, particularly given the high expectations from various parties and the
00:43public.
00:43Earlier, the Perikatan Supreme Council unanimously appointed Ahmad Samsuri to the post, succeeding Bersatu President Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yasin, who
00:52resigned last month.
00:53Meanwhile, opposition leader Datuk Seri Hamza Zainuddin and 18 other MPs pledged their support for the coalition, which is led
01:02by PAS.
01:03They extended their congratulations to Ahmad Samsuri and vowed to give him their full backing in leading the opposition bloc.
01:11Hamza and three other Bersatu MPs were sacked from the party two weeks ago amid a leadership tussle with Muhyiddin.
01:19They are reportedly preparing to take over another political party in the coming week.
