00:01Past President Tanshri Abdul Hadi Awang's political secretary, Mohammad Shahir Cheh Sulaiman,
00:08said claims that Perikatan National will be given only seven seats in seat allocation talks with
00:13UMNO for the Melaka election are not final as negotiations are still ongoing. Shahir said figures
00:20such as seven, ten or twenty seats were merely assumptions or initial offers made before formal
00:27negotiations began. Sinar Haryan reported Shahir as saying that usually, before negotiations,
00:33each side will put forward a high figure and during negotiations they will see how the party's
00:39top leaders manage the differences and compromise. The past-led Perikatan National Coalition is
00:46reportedly leaning towards the seven seats not contested by Barisan National should a
00:52political understanding be reached. On Tuesday, Melaka Chief Minister Datuk Seri Arb Rauf Yusso
00:59announced the dissolution of the state Legislative Assembly, paving the way for the state election.
01:04He said discussions would be held with the parties concerned to assess possible forms of political
01:11cooperation. He said any decision on political cooperation would be guided by the interests of
01:17the Melaka people and the future administration of the state rather than personal interests. Barisan
01:24National, which won the last election in 2021, had said they are open to negotiations with other
01:30coalitions before deciding if it will pursue an electoral pact.
