01:05And you have no plans of leaving anytime soon.

01:12But just like here in LA, when I used to live out here,

01:19because the goal is to travel and tour.
01:21And I just want a home base and just somewhere
01:23to take my out of storage, put it in the house,
01:27and whenever I have a day off, that is my home.

01:31Walking into something that you worked really hard for
01:34and being able to sit down and go, this is mine, and I did this.

01:39and being rather presumptuous, that you've auditioned before.

01:45This is my third, season 14.
01:47It was in the middle of the pandemic.
01:49I haven't done drag in 14 years.
01:51I was not prepared.
01:52So you did drag and then took a break?
01:54To pursue dancing.
01:55I moved out here in LA, and I was able to go on tour
01:59with Britney Spears, Rihanna.
02:01Mia, that's awesome.

02:03And then what happened?
02:04Was it the pandemic?
02:05I've already done everything on my bucket list
02:08as a dancer that I've ever wanted to do.
02:10And then it's like, hey, you're on lockdown.
02:13And I'm like, what can I do next?
02:16And I was like, let me pick up drag,
02:17because that was the only thing that was saving everybody.

02:21That was such an aha moment.
02:23I'm like, get your ass up.
02:25Go buy all this makeup.
02:26You have nothing but time now.
02:28And I remember calling Athena Dion and being like,
02:32sister, let's do FaceTime so you can teach me
02:34how to do my makeup, please.
02:35She can paint.
02:36She could paint, and that bitch did not help me.

02:41She's like, girl, I'm busy.
02:43I'm like, it's the world is closed.
02:45And you had known her from?
02:47Oh my god, Miami.
02:48I started drag before her in 08.
02:51And she started drag in 09.
02:54Not that anybody's keeping score.
02:55I mean, her career took off once I left Miami.

03:01So how important is dance for you in your drag persona?
03:07Oh, dancing, I have to do it.
03:09I'm not a park and bark queen at all.
03:12I'm also, there's such a huge difference
03:14between a dance queen or a dancer queen.
03:17You know, I do choreography.
03:19Like, I don't do the stunts.
03:20I appreciate it, you know?
03:22But I am going to show a step, an eight count.

03:26You showed us that with the girl group challenge.
03:29You brought it.
03:31Was that exciting for you to be able to show?
03:32It was so surreal.
03:34I was like, oh my god, this is actually happening.
03:36And to be able to wear something that my sister,
03:39Malaya, made for me.
03:41Like, to be able to shine when people who love you
03:44make stuff for you was just the best feeling in the world.
03:47Aw, I love that.
03:48So you get the call.
03:49And then you say, oh my god, this is real.
03:52It was tricky because I was also in the middle
03:54of tour rehearsals with Shakira.
03:57And-

04:01But they asked me to be a dancer on the tour.
04:04And I told them no.
04:06But I would help with assisting with the choreography,
04:09whatever they needed.
04:10So you told Shakira the tour, no, you couldn't do it.

04:15And I'm, you know, I'm like, I'm right there.

04:18So, you know, I would hate to put Mia on pause again.
04:23When this could be the thing that's going to change my life.

04:44And I'm literally in this competition with my favorite drag
04:47queen, one of my favorite drag queens ever, Juicy.
04:50And she is such an artist and such a performer and dancer.
04:55And she just is the baddest.
04:59She's gifted.
04:59She's amazing.

05:00I have those emotional moments with her because as much as
05:03she looks up to me, I look up to her as well in those ways.
05:07And that's why even two, like, challenges together, like,
05:09I'm like, this is amazing.
05:11Like, it's just those overflow of emotions that just come out.
05:15What was your favorite challenge?
05:16My favorite challenge was the talent show.
05:18Was it?
05:19Yes.
05:20Why?
05:21Because I won that one.
05:22And I got to spend that moment with Juicy.
05:25Right.
05:25That was amazing.
05:27And just to see everybody, like, what they bring to the table.
05:30And it made sense of their drag, you know?
05:33Like, just to see a show and be like, oh, it's my turn.

05:36Was that the win right before the Snatch Game?
05:42That wasn't Shady, it was just a question.

05:54I know that when I watch competitions, I'm like, I can do that.
05:59Not only can I do it, this is what I would have done.
06:01And my hype people around me who, and I'm not surrounded by yes people.
06:05These bitches will tell me no, but they'd be like, that is so funny.

06:10And then you get on there and you realize, oh, my God.

06:15Not only what am I doing, this is frickin' hard.
06:17It's honestly very, very hard because I'm sandwiched in a group of, like, heavy hitters.
06:23It was Athena and then Jane and then me and NeNe and Darlene.
06:27And I was like, oh, my God, I look like this dead bitch.

06:35And I know I could have taken it anyway.

06:43And it was not my first pick.

07:11As I was doing my makeup, I was like, I don't even know who this bitch is going to be

07:15And then as soon as the first word came out of my mouth, I was like, this is who I
07:19have to be.
07:19But it was this nervous, like, timid psychopath.

07:26Let's talk about your fashions that you brought.
07:29Now, this denim one was your entry look.

07:33My drag mom, Erica Norell.

07:35And this one is the most meaningful to me because my brother passed away in 2020.
07:41And these were all the jeans that I kept from him.
07:45So I told myself that, yeah, I was like, why does he have so many denim jeans?
07:51Also, why would you keep his jeans?
07:52Because in my mind, I knew I was going to be on Drag Race.
07:57And I already had a vision of what I wanted to wear coming in.

08:03So this one, that's a heartfelt one for me.

08:06And I just felt strong and powerful.
08:08And I felt like, you know, safe.
08:10I felt like he was with me.
