00:19:48One of the most unrelenting high-motor warriors in WWE, Ilya Dragunov.
00:19:53He is ready for action.
00:19:56And he's got a major axe to grind, as you mentioned, Joe.
00:19:59Ilya was supposed to get a rematch for his formerly-held United States Championship last week against Carmelo Hayes.
00:20:06That got scuppered by the arrival of the MFTs, one of whom he will be doing combat with right now.
00:20:14And we went from a potential title match to a 10-man tag team.
00:20:34And his opponent, accompanied by MFT, swinging at 220 pounds, Tama Tonga.
00:20:48Solo Sokoa still with the Wyatt Six Lantern in hand in the MFTs, a dangerous combination.
00:20:54And perhaps no one weighed among them has shown more fight and newfound weaponry than Tama Tonga.
00:21:00Yeah, you're absolutely right, Joe.
00:21:01Look, we've all been impressed with Tama Tonga since he's arrived with Solo Sokoa here in WWE.
00:21:07He has been exemplary in his performance as a soldier for Solo, following orders to a team.
00:21:14But 2026 has seen a very different side of Tama Tonga, who stepped up massively.
00:21:21He won the tag titles from the Wyatt Six.
00:21:23He beat Shinsuke Nakamura a couple of weeks ago.
00:21:26And then last week got the job for the MFTs in the 10-man tag that you mentioned.
00:21:32So Tama Tonga is a man on the rise here on SmackDown right now, and another win tonight would be
00:21:38massive.
00:21:47He'll be dragging off and Tama Tonga as this match is presented by Arby's.
00:21:53We have the MFTs.
00:21:55I mentioned a different side of Tama Tonga with what we've seen with recent results as the Mad Dragon gets
00:22:02to work with the Chops.
00:22:03It's been devastating opponents with that running cutthroat elbow.
00:22:07Now the Mad Dragon the target for it all as you see him beating down with a series of right
00:22:13hands.
00:22:13Yeah, the start of this match could only ever be one word, which is intense, and both men bringing it
00:22:19right from the off.
00:22:20And far be it from me to question the character of Tama Tonga, but I have to question the mindset
00:22:26of Ilya Dragunov,
00:22:27knowing full well that there are four MFTs outside the ring here, and Ilya Dragunov stands alone.
00:22:34Surely it's only a matter of time before the MFTs involve themselves in this match.
00:22:39Yeah, it's just the mindset of Dragunov, though, to just say if there's a fight in front of me, that's
00:22:43where I want to be, no matter who's surrounding him.
00:22:45Which is often presented as a massive strength in this game, and it usually is, but in a situation like
00:22:50this,
00:22:51maybe you do want to take your foot off the gas and think, no, there's five of them, there's one
00:22:55of me, probably not going to be successful here,
00:22:58unless you come up with something quite incredible.
00:23:03Tama Tonga goes running right into that right knee of Dragunov, who then delivers the big boot as well.
00:23:10Nice movement from Tama Tonga, avoiding the worst of that boot, incredibly nimble on his feet, and vicious on the
00:23:17attack,
00:23:17but right now it's all about Dragunov!
00:23:19This is the high motor revving engine we see all the time from Ilya.
00:23:24Yeah, that's a good word, high motor right there from Dragunov, simply has no way of slowing down,
00:23:30and has an engine that does not seem to fatigue at all.
00:23:34Nice start here from Dragunov, Tama's got to regroup.
00:23:48So an offensive spurt from Ilya Dragunov has Tama Tonga, as you said, looking to regroup on the outside.
00:23:54He does so, he's just draping and hanging that head of Dragunov over that top rope.
00:23:58Yeah, staggering Dragunov just briefly there, but you know full well, Dragunov is gonna be straight back on the attack,
00:24:04and is so.
00:24:05This has been an absolute scramble from the off.
00:24:09Good pace being set early on here.
00:24:11Oh, he followed him up.
00:24:13You know, sometimes he winds up that Konstantin special, but instead it was Tama Tonga, well scouted tonight.
00:24:20Yeah, I'll tell you, the presentation of Tama Tonga, it would be easy to assume this guy isn't really particularly
00:24:26skillful,
00:24:27he's just a master at the art of savagery, however, technically astute, high flyer, incredibly fast, Tama Tonga really is
00:24:36the total package.
00:24:37And I think that plays to exactly, Wade, what you were describing of this new look, this new side that
00:24:43we've seen in recent months.
00:24:46Yeah, Tama Tonga's been a lot calmer of late, I mean, you still get that feral growling occasionally,
00:24:53but there seems to be a man who's dialed it down a little bit, brought a little more smarts to
00:24:58the game,
00:24:59and it's proven highly effective in the early goings in 2026.
00:25:07Right back on the attack as he puts it in the center of the ring,
00:25:10and another series of right hands before Dragunov tries to fight back with the kick,
00:25:15oh, that elbow right to the back of the head.
00:25:17And look, we talked about earlier the fact that Ilya Dragunov really wants that United States Championship
00:25:21held by Carmelo Hayes, the one that Carmelo Hayes took from Dragunov a couple of months ago,
00:25:27however, Solo Sokoa has made it quite clear that now that the MFTs have acquired Tag Gold here,
00:25:33they want more where that came from.
00:25:35So perhaps, Tama Tonga is now having a think about the United States Championship himself.
00:25:41And Solo has made it quite clear that if there's a strap out there with gold on it,
00:25:45it needs to be with his family.
00:25:49Big chop from Dragunov.
00:25:52A right hand across the jaw from Tama Tonga.
00:25:55Yeah, I mean, getting in a trade war with Tama Tonga when you're on your knees and he's on his
00:25:59feet,
00:26:00you're always at a major disadvantage.
00:26:01But slamming on the brakes nicely there is Dragunov trying to turn this thing around.
00:26:06Yeah, good skill and now explosive dynamic power as he comes charging into that corner before slamming him down.
00:26:14Yeah, that's part of the problem with Dragunov.
00:26:16So explosive, turns it around in a hurry.

00:27:19We ended up with a ten-man tag team.
00:27:20Now Ilya Dragunov looking for a bit of revenge.
00:27:25As he's trying to rally back against Tama Tonga.
00:27:28Both men having to dig deep at this point.
00:27:30Both have taken a lot of attrition in a relatively short amount of time in this match.

00:29:58And Dragunov now has no clue where he's at.
00:30:01I don't care how intense you are.
00:30:03Once the mind gets wiped like that there's very little you can do to resist.
00:30:08Now you're seeing everything in the arsenal of Tama Tonga as Dragunov is looking for a way out.

00:30:18But look at how much has been taken out of him.

00:30:24You really need to follow it up.
