00:17statement, his family shared, with heavy hearts, we share that Eric Dane passed on Thursday afternoon
00:23following a courageous battle with ALS. They added, he spent his final day
00:29surrounded by his dear friends, his devoted wife and his two beautiful daughters,
00:33Billy and Georgia, who were the center of his world.
00:37The statement continued, throughout his journey with ALS, Eric became a passionate advocate for
00:42awareness and research, determined to make a difference for others facing the same fight.
00:47He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered always. Eric adored his fans and is forever grateful
00:53for the outpouring of love and support is received. The family is asked for privacy as they navigate
00:58this impossible time. Dane became widely known for playing Dr. Marks Lohan, also known as Max Timmie,
01:05on Grey's Anatomy. What started as a short appearance turned into a long-running role
01:10across multiple seasons. Years later, he found a new generation of fans as Cal Jacobs in Euphoria.
01:18And even after his diagnosis, he continued working. In a print, he told People magazine,
01:23I feel fortunate that I am able to continue working and I am looking forward to returning
01:28to set of Euphoria next week. I kindly ask that you give my family privacy during this time.
01:35Born in San Francisco in 1972, Dane began acting in the early 1990s. Over the years,
01:42he appeared in shows like Charmed and films including X-Men, The Last Stand, Merrily and Me,
01:47and Bad Boys Ride or Die. He also partnered with ALS organizations to raise awareness.
01:55Eric Dane is survived by his wife, Rebecca Gayart, and their daughters.
