00:19The stand-alone EP arrived Wednesday as what the band describes as an immediate response to current events

00:31Frontman Bono said in a statement,
00:34These tracks couldn't wait. These songs were impatient to be out in the world.
00:39They are songs of defiance and dismay.
00:42The opening track American Obituary pays tribute to Renee Good,
00:47an American woman shot dead by a federal agent while protesting against ICE operation in January.

00:59Formed in the 1970s, U2 became global icons through hits like With or Without You
01:06and decades of human rights activism.
