00:04celebrations. The 39-year-old actor was taken into custody in the pre-dawn hours of Tuesday
00:10and charged with two counts of simple battery. He was held without bond at New Orleans Parish
00:15Prison and was scheduled to appear before a judge at 3pm local time. Footage obtained
00:19by TMZ shows LaBeouf shirtless and being treated by paramedics after the altercation.
00:24Video from outside a bar appears to show him rolling on the ground as several men held
00:29him down. At one point, a man is seen delivering punches while telling the actor to stay down.
00:35It remains unclear what led to the confrontation. According to reports, LaBeouf had been in town
00:39since February 12th, celebrating Mardi Gras. Witnesses described him as somewhat belligerent
00:44at local bars, including Ms. May's, where a doorman alleged he attempted a
00:49do-you-know-who-I-am approach after being denied entry without a shirt or cash. He was also reportedly
00:55spotted at several other New Orleans establishments throughout the weekend.
00:59The day after his release, LaBeouf posted a brief message on X, writing simply,
01:03free me. LaBeouf has been open in recent years about his struggles with addiction. In 2022,
01:08he said he had been sober for more than a year and a half, crediting a period of personal reckoning

01:13the support of others for helping him abstain from alcohol. He previously acknowledged his issues with
01:18alcoholism and aggression, saying he was committed to recovery. Following his release from jail the
01:23morning of February 17th, LaBeouf was seen returning to the Mardi Gras parade route. According to the
01:27Daily Mail, he changed clothes, bought sunglasses, and was photographed drinking beer and taking
01:32pictures with fans. The arrest comes amid reports that LaBeouf and his wife, actress Mia Goth,
01:37quietly split nearly a year ago. The couple first met on the set of Nymphomaniac Vol. 2 and married in
01:43Las Vegas in 2016. They share a young daughter and have an on-again, off-again relationship over the past
01:49decade. As of now, the circumstances surrounding the alleged fight and what comes next for the actor
01:54remain unclear.
