The central‑southern region of Chile remains under a state of emergency as forest fires have burned close to 1,000 hectares in the municipalities of Linares and Vichuquén. The National Forest Corporation (CONAF) classified the Cajón de Pejerrey fire in Linares as critical, with 522 hectares already devastated. In Vichuquén, another 450 hectares have been consumed, prompting a large deployment of brigades, aircraft, and heavy machinery such as motor graders and water trucks.
