00:16Artificial intelligence paired with big data is rapidly changing how we work, how we solve problems, and how we build
00:26the future.
00:26At Aramco, AI is not a buzzword. It's a business driver, improving reliability for our customers, asset integrity for our
00:38operations, and sustainability for our planet.
00:43Globally, unplanned downtime and equipment failures cost industry nearly $1 trillion annually.
00:54Predictive AI models are helping us to dramatically reduce the cost.
01:01They allow us to foresee equipment failures before they happen, increase availability, and cut emissions through smarter maintenance and optimized
01:11operations.
01:13For example, our AI models are enabling real-time monitoring of critical assets across our facilities, ensuring we maintain a
01:23high level of operational reliability.
01:26In the area of asset integrity, corrosion is a major challenge, impacting all sectors in the industry.
01:34The annual cost of corrosion is estimated to be $3 billion or $3 trillion.
01:41This is in addition to the associated emissions and environmental costs that could result from material releases.
01:49At Aramco, we leverage our inspection data and our process data combined with our understanding of different corrosion mechanisms to
02:01predict where and when the corrosion will happen.
02:05We're also using AI-powered robots to inspect tank internals, capturing high-resolution data without the need to open the
02:14tanks, thus maximizing asset runtime.
02:18But perhaps, nowhere is the promise of AI more urgent or more inspiring than in the field of sustainability.
02:29At Aramco, we are using AI to improve energy efficiency, monitor and forecast emissions, designing new materials, and reduce environmental
02:41impact across our operations.
02:43One example is our digital sustainability partnership with SLB, formerly Schlumberger.
02:51Together, we are developing advanced digital solutions using AI to optimally drive the decarbonization planning that will help achieve the
03:01net-zero goals,
03:02identify emission sources, identify emission sources proactively, and optimize energy consumption, and the resulting emissions in complex industrial facilities across
03:13the globe.
03:15Working with our industry and technology partners, this collaboration aims to embed sustainability into the digital fabric of our industry,
03:24transforming not just how we extract and process energy, but how we responsibly do it.
03:32AI is set to revolutionize operations at an unprecedented scale, as we are on the cusp of super-intelligent industrial
03:42ecosystem.
03:44Scaling AI applications to harness this new kind of intelligence across these industrial domains is enabled by three main pillars.
03:55We process over 10 billion data points per day across our operations.
04:01AI is also helping us extract value from what we already have, lots of data and exploration.
04:09We have taken decades-old seismic data, and by applying new AI models, generated new insights that were previously hidden.
04:19AI is efficient and cost-effective.
04:23Number two, computing power.
04:27Our systems include 1,500 beta bytes of storage and world-class supercomputers like the MAM-7,
04:38that help harvest this vast amount of data for actionable insights.
04:44In addition to these on-prem resources, in-kingdom, compute is now becoming increasingly available.
04:58Number three, human intelligence.
05:02At Aramco, we believe our AI is only as good as our HI, human intelligence.
05:10This is why we're training more than 6,000 AI developers across the company and are working with world-leading
05:18institutions like Imperial College, Caltech, KAUST, to put hundreds of our employees through advanced degree programs.
05:29Building on these three pillars, AI is driving innovation at an unprecedented scale in Aramco.
05:38For example, we have built an innovative reinforcement learning, or so-called RL-based approach, through our operations co-pilot
05:50program, which helps operate our process units and facilities optimally, while reducing energy consumption.
05:58Co-pilot goes through thousands of scenarios, identifying the most efficient operating points.
06:08Gen AI is fueling the next set of AI applications that will further enhance our operations and engineering activities.
06:18Gen AI-based agents equipped with specific domain knowledge will increasingly be available to assist their human counterparts in engineering
06:31and operations.
06:32On the frontier of industrial gen AI, we have launched Aramco's industrial large language model, the world's fairest industrial large
06:46language model, LLM.
06:49Our current 70 billion parameter version is already in production, with a trillion parameter model underway.
06:59This is already powering the next wave of AI applications that will drive productivity across the company to new levels.
07:09We're also developing Aramco's industrial large language model for plants, a time-series AI model that provides real-time, that
07:20provides actionable insights for engineers and operators,
07:23enhancing quality, anticipating quality, anticipating demand, and maximizing performance with minimal human intervention.
07:33The national vision for AI in Saudi Arabia is also truly transformative.
07:41The recent launch of Humane, a new AI company backed by the public investment fund, BIF, highlights Saudi Arabia's strategic
07:53goal of becoming a global AI leader.
07:56In partnership with companies like NVIDIA, Amazon, Qualcomm, Humane is planning to build cutting-edge data centers powered by state
08:06-of-the-art GPUs,
08:08Arabic language, multi-model AI models, and platforms for AI that will foster innovation at a national level.
08:17Together with Humane, Aramco is contributing to a broader national AI ecosystem where industrial and digital transformation go hand-in
08:27-hand.
08:28To conclude, industrial AI is reshaping reliability, asset integrity, and sustainability, not tomorrow, but today.
