04:50always trying to write something that uh we could both do and i'm glad that we didn't force one of
04:57those and then this song came out and it was perfect well we cut we love it it's like our
05:02like number one favorite favorite song right now playing it i even brought like the t-shirt i was
05:06gonna wear the t-shirt for the interview but bob has this hat that's jordan davis hat on i was

05:45though but so my youngest boy sorry this was in a in a bird creature who i'm such a fan

05:51i love him so he was like making a joke because you had a covid baby and he was like

05:55you named your baby covid in his face when he said he was like your kid's name's covid yeah like

06:01like he found like a pot of gold and he was so excited that guy's an amazing human but then

06:06like in an interview you could just go with it and say that your kid's names are covid so i

06:10maybe i'll remember and i'm like let's give him the opportunity right now next time but it's but
06:15my my youngest boy is named elijah yeah and so we're trying to tell him now we've always called
06:23him eli so anytime you call him elijah he gets really mad oh because he doesn't think it's his
06:28he's like that's not my name my name is eli oh no and the other day i was sitting there
06:31with him and
06:32i was like hey dude your real name is elijah and he was like eli and my daughter runs up
06:39to alexa
06:39all right she just got in this phase of talking to alexa like crazy and she asked her to name
06:47my kids and it did it named it and it said elijah yeah oh it said elijah she got it
06:54right
06:54oh because it pulls it off the internet yeah yeah you can't do that when you're normal
06:59but yeah we haven't but he knows now he knows now well my daughter thinks it's because she's
07:04told her at some point uh but now he's like okay i think he's coming around because alexa
07:10his real name is elijah and we just call him elijah did y'all have a hard time naming the
07:15children
07:15because we me and my wife we have one son and uh we have another boy on the way oh

07:20and we're having a real hard time coming up with a name because we don't want it to be you
07:25know we
07:25want it to be unique and so it's like every time we hear a name we're like no i know
07:28that person's
07:29name is that or this person's name is that and so we're out and i went we got this app

07:33because you get to an adult and you're like oh i know i hate someone this app where you go

07:37names and if you like them and and she likes the same name it'll mat you know match and show

07:41like yeah we have i went through 2 500 names and we we have zero matches zero yes it's like

07:49than a dating site yeah i don't know what we're gonna do that was the most so first one like

07:56second date me and christian went on she was like which at the time was kind of strange she was

08:27right and that's when she was like oh yeah i definitely want kids and if we have a daughter
08:30my her name will be eloise but she said if we have a daughter she said if i have a
08:35daughter okay
08:35all right she was like this is a non-negotiable i love she's like if i have a daughter her

08:40will be eloise yes and i was like that makes it easy i like that name all right sure uh
08:45so that was
08:47easy the two boys were fairly easy um but yeah this last one she didn't have a name for like
08:54the whole
08:55time we were in the hospital like it was just baby wait what could not could not land on the

09:00name the baby sadie like but when at what point if you're in the
09:05uh when you left she was a good she was a good 40 40 48 hours old for like don't
09:12you have to come
09:12up with a name at the hospital pretty quickly i think before you leave yeah i don't even think
09:17my child was out like but her dad and they're like her dad was texting me like name and we
09:22were like
09:22oh we're still well some people are telling me now they're like oh just you just wait till that
09:28babe till you see that baby and then it'll come to you and i go that sounds like way too

09:32it turns out for us it's see the baby and then some yeah yeah so she's sadie now is it
09:41is it easier to write a song than is to name a baby than to have a baby well i
09:45mean to have a baby
09:46i get that but to name a baby which is easier writing a song or name a baby yeah i
09:51think like
09:53to write a song writing a song is way easier at this point at this point you're naming a person

09:57the rest of its life you're making a song for people to have like major memories too this is
10:04important yeah but i still think like and then and then you have to think about nicknames oh yeah
10:09like i had a buddy in high school that i can't even say his name but i'm just like what

10:14parents thinking i know a girl named penny nichols penny nichols yeah her name was penny nichols
10:20i feel like it's still a cool name it's kind of sweet middle name was like dimes i don't know
10:27penny dimes and nichols penny dimes nichols yeah writing songs though seems pretty easy for you
10:32because man every every song you have your songs are so catchy so hooky what's the secret to song
10:39writing for jordan davis i don't know it doesn't feel easy in the process yeah i'm not i i like

10:45thought about i wrote this morning and i'm like halfway through the right i was sitting there with
10:50everybody in the room and i was like these guys are probably so aggravated at me because i just
10:55like was shooting stuff down but like not coming up with anything so they'd be like hey man what
11:00about this and i'd just be like nah but not come back with anything better and i would be really
11:07frustrating like when somebody does that it kind of makes me mad so like i have to like snap out

11:13it and be like i feel like i apologize a lot in the because i'm not very vocal in okay
11:19a writing room
11:20i just kind of like sit think on it whereas like some people are like million miles an hour
11:26throwing ideas out throwing words lyrics do you have to be in a certain mood like when you're
11:31walking in there no are you doing jumping jacks before you're like getting pumped no no okay i feel
11:37like i've been doing it long enough now that like i know how to write a song okay have you
11:42are any of the
11:42songs uh have you written anything totally solo or is it always in a group no it's it's been so
11:50long
11:50since i've actually since i've finished a song solo mainly because i get to where now like i'll come up
11:55with a verse or a chorus or just like a couple of lines and then i'll bring it to somebody
12:01else i like
12:02tip my hat to the people that can like start and finish a song totally by themselves um i just
12:10think
12:10i've been co-writing for so long that even if i were to do that i still feel like in
12:14the back of
12:14my mind it could be better so i would i would get in a right and we wouldn't have anything
12:19and i bet
12:19well look i wrote this the other day i think it's okay play it and then we would kind of
12:24tweak it and
12:25try to make it better but um yeah i haven't written one like totally 100 by myself in a long
12:32time we
12:32talked about how you're competitive with your brother are you still competitive or does that help in
12:37songwriting to be like competitive like if he has an idea and you're like oh i got this no i
12:43mean
12:43that's like the i feel like competition is like the the death to creativity it is okay um so like
12:52i
12:52tried to now early on when we both had record deals that was like a different kind of thing uh
13:00but
13:00now like i'm so pumped for him whenever i hear that he's got a song out with somebody or
13:05you know um or he just plays something that is great and you know somebody has it on hold or
13:15you know whatever uh but no we're not we're not as competitive i think now we're just old enough
13:22to where like you just want everybody to win yeah yeah um you know it's it's it's bigger than
13:29who has the most at this point because now it's like okay well yeah i hope you have hits because

13:34have my nieces uh so like yeah and they're they're gonna need to get married one day so somebody's
13:40gotta pay for that i love that so when it comes to the new album uh two questions which song
13:46is are you most proud of as being a writer on or co-writer and then also which one are
13:52you most
13:53excited about to be playing live especially maybe in the uk tour that's coming on as well one of my
13:58favorites off the record son of a gun um wrote about my my oldest boy um he's just exactly like
14:06me uh and my dad kind of was actually my mom that one night he was just driving me crazy
14:12and i was
14:13like mom this kid is going to is it's going to be the end of me and she was like
14:18because he's you
14:19like he's the remake of that's that was you this was me 30 something years ago um so son of
14:26a gun
14:27is is something i'm really proud of and then um a song that i like playing out live i mean
14:34trying to struck around i mean i know it's the this thing right now but that song is so fun

14:37play live it just feels good um so that's the one that's that's been really cool here's the one
14:43that from it was the first song we played off the record live and like very seldom do you go
14:51take a song go play it for the first time and walk off stage and be like oh yeah that's
14:56gonna be
14:56they're gonna like that one and uh that would that was that was it you felt like the first time

15:02like this is gonna be first first time we played live all right that could be a good one that's

15:06good feeling to have i love it i want to know what are the attributes that your son has that
15:11you are seeing that like that's me oh god uh we're we're very stubborn not myself my brother my dad
15:20and dude this kid is just so stubborn i mean it is it blows my mind are you all tauruses
15:26like when's your birthday i'm march what yeah that's march 30th that's a i don't know i'm may
15:32and i'm a taurus and my wife tells me i'm stubborn he's an he's an aries and that's a ram

15:36also stubborn yeah okay we only know those two signs don't ask us any other signs just because
15:41that's our birthdays yeah well we don't have the same birthday that'd be weird i mean me and my
15:45wife do which is crazy yeah the same birthday same year but march 30th we both what do you guys

15:54could care less so so you just make it her birthday yeah at some point in the day they'll be
