00:00So these guys hail from, where are you based?
00:05We are a Swedish company, but we have moved operations to Tuscany, near Florence.
00:10Okay, so from Sweden to Florence, and these guys have this really, really cool piece of tech here, which is
00:17called Jetson.
00:18Gentlemen, take it away.
00:19Thank you, thank you very much, and thank you very much for joining us here this afternoon.
00:23My name is Peter Turnström, and I founded Jetson together with Mr. Thomas Patan here.
00:29And we are going to show you our amazing Jetson 1.
00:34Let's see what's happening here. Thank you, Thomas.
00:38I just want to show you 10 seconds of this beautiful movie, which we used as a launch movie for
00:43the product on the 21st of October 2021.
00:58If you can guess where this is filmed, I'll give you 1,000 euros.
01:22Yes, I'm going to stop it now because we don't have much more time.
01:27We don't have much more time. I see the clock is ticking down there.
01:33Anyway, this is the Jetson 1. We get a lot of questions regarding that movie.
01:37They think that this is some kind of, you know, CGI or something like that, but it's not.
01:42It's for real.
01:43And it's this particular, this aircraft that was flying in that movie, and it was Thomas flying it.
01:48Thomas is right now by his laptop over there.
01:52And we released this in the 20, 2021 in October, but the company, the company we started in 2017.
02:00Well, this is something as exciting as the first affordable electric helicopter that you can own and fly.
02:11And the cool thing is that you don't need a pilot's license.
02:14And a lot of people here, they go like, wow, are you serious?
02:17Yes, I'm serious.
02:19In the United States, you don't need a pilot's license for this.
02:21You can just fly it if you want.
02:25In Europe, it's different depending what country you're in.
02:28So, generally speaking, it's like this.
02:31You can't fly it in big cities, so there's no way we can fly this to Champs-Élysées, for instance.
02:36Or we cannot fly close to airports.
02:38But apart from that, it's pretty open, as long as you stick close to the ground.
02:43You don't need a pilot's license.
02:44Another cool thing is that you only need five minutes.
02:48We can teach you to fly.
02:49You can become a pilot in five minutes.
02:52You don't need to attend pilot school for a year.
02:56We'll make your pilot immediately.
02:58It takes four minutes to just help you get in.
03:01And then it takes me one minute to just explain the controls.
03:05And you're flying.
03:06It's amazing.
03:06It's probably the profoundly most ecstatic experience you had in your life to fly this particular thing.
03:14Now, just to talk a little bit about the specs.
03:18What is this amazingly cool thing?
03:21Well, it's built around an aluminum space frame.
03:23It's there to protect the pilot in case you do something crazy, okay?
03:27You don't want that to be in carbon fiber.
03:30It has to be something that can take a kit without shattering.
03:34The rest of the Jetson is carbon fiber.
03:37It's extremely light.
03:39To get it with the batteries is 86 kilos.
03:42And that is the reason you can fly it without the pilot's license in the U.S.
03:46Because if it's below 120 kilos, go fly.
03:50You don't even need to have an instructor.
03:53There's eight powerful motors.
03:55It looks like it is four, but it's actually eight.
03:58They are coaxial.
03:59And they have 400 kilos of thrust.
04:02It's extremely overpowered.
04:03Extremely overpowered.
04:05Nothing accelerates like the Jetson 1.
04:08Forget about Teslas or cars or anything.
04:10This accelerates hard.
04:14You have 20 minutes of flight time.
04:16This is because the current battery technology is like a little bit stone age right now.
04:20As soon as we get better batteries, we can fly longer.
04:24Top speed is 102 kilometers an hour or 55 nautical knots.
04:29And this is because of the regulations in the United States.
04:31You can fold the arms.
04:34And that way you can fit it inside a van or like on a pickup truck or something.
04:37No problem to bring with you wherever you want to go.
04:44And the price is 92,000 U.S. dollars.
04:48Now, we are really...
04:52We don't want anyone to get hurt in one of our products.
04:56So we have incorporated a lot of safety features.
04:59And one of them is that you can actually fly.
05:01If one motor dies, you will still be flying.
05:03Actually, one motor per axle, per end, can stop.
05:09There's enough power in just one motor.
05:11We're really speaking to the mic because we're competing for noise here.
05:13So really speaking to the mic.
05:14Into the mic like this.
05:15Okay.
05:16I will try that.
05:16Yes.
05:18But most importantly, it has a...
05:21It can enhance free hover stuff.
05:23There's a carbon fiber protection for the pilot.
05:27And also, there's a ballistic parachute that's supposed to go in here.
05:30But we are not allowed to bring it here in VivaTech because President Macron is visiting today.
05:36And he does not want to have any explosives near him.
05:39An ballistic parachute has a detonator.
05:42So to make it make...
05:44To fold out properly.
05:47The coolest thing about the Jetson is that it's so easy to fly.
05:50And that is because me and Thomas and the rest of the team, we have spent about five years.
05:55It took us one year to make the body.
05:58Five years, four years to program the flight computer in order to make it super easy to fly.
06:03What we do is...
06:05I don't know.
06:05Is there a camera?
06:06I can show you here.
06:08When you sit in it the first time, it's going to be like this.
06:11And then you just pull the thrust lever forward slowly.
06:14And you are suddenly going to be hovering.
06:17You're a pilot.
06:18Immediately.
06:19And then you use the right joystick here to actually fly it.
06:23Forward, back, sidestep, sidestep.
06:25And also your control because it's three axes.
06:28It has auto-hover.
06:30If you let go of the controls, it stops.
06:32And not just stops slowly.
06:34It stops like in a cartoon, you know.
06:36It really stops immediately.
06:39And also you can't crash it because if you put the thrust lever to zero, like that,
06:44you will not go tumbling down through the ground.
06:46It will always make a perfect landing because it has a laser pointed downwards to know how high you are
06:52over ground.
06:52So it makes a perfect, perfect landing.
06:55Always.
06:58Now we launched it the 21st of October.
07:00We had immediately massive media attention.
07:03Massive.
07:04It was much more than me and Thomas have ever, you know, thought it was going to be.
07:11It was on many, many million views on YouTube, global coverage on Grotesque TV.
07:15We were on Stephen Colbert's show, Top Gear, BBC, you name it.
07:19But also a lot of magazines that featured us.
07:23And this led to that we got a lot of pre-sales.
07:30And right now that number is too low.
07:32It's actually 404.
07:34So from the last six months, we sold 404 of these units.
07:38And now the challenge is bringing this thing to production.
07:43This is, this is what's going on.
07:45So right now we have founded an R&D center in Italy.
07:49We are building a core team.
07:50Half of the team is here right in the booth if you want to meet them.
07:53We're going to make this thing perfect.
07:55There's a little bit of rough edges around it, but not much.
07:58It's almost perfect as it is now.
08:00We're going to do limited production next year.
08:03And then mass production together with a partner in 2024.
08:07But let's zoom out the picture a little bit.
08:11Look at it from a much wider angle.
08:15This is just the first step for Jetson.
08:20This is our Formula One car for the sky.
08:23We think that we have, I have sold, we have sold 1,000 units per year.
08:27So if you do it for 10 years, that's 10,000 units.
08:30With that money, we're going to build a two-seater,
08:32which is going to be like a Ferrari for the sky.
08:34Much more expensive.
08:36Not 92,000 US dollars.
08:37Instead, we're talking 350, 400,000.
08:40Something like that.
08:40A beautiful sports car for the sky.
08:42Two people, one hour autonomy.
08:46And then, early 2030, we're building a four-seater.
08:50So a family car for the sky.
08:53We are talking about lots and lots of units.
08:56There's legislation that's going to be in place
08:58that is not in place right now.
09:01And with that car, we're going to democratize the skies
09:04and make everyone a pilot.
09:06Thank you very much for listening.
09:08Thank you for coming.
09:10Okay, thank you.
09:12Unfortunately, we're out of time.
09:13But I will ask you just a quick question.
09:16So how are you going to step this up?
09:18Are you looking for some serious VC investment?
09:22Right now, we are closing seed round investment.
09:25We have already received term sheets for about $30 million.
09:29We are just selecting the best terms from that
09:32because we just want to float between 10% and 15% of the company.
09:35We are almost ready with this.
09:37And we think we're going to be ready on the 1st of July.
09:39If you want to join us for this round, we are right there.
09:42It says Jetson.
09:43Yeah.
09:44If you want to talk to us.
09:46But we have basically already finalized the first seed investment.
09:50then it's going to be something like $20 million.
09:52Okay.
09:53You heard it here, ladies and gentlemen.
09:54Jetson.
09:55Thank you very much.
09:57All right.
09:58So let's take a brief pause while we clear the stage
10:02and launch into our next round of startups and pitches.
10:05Thank you.
