00:01Sashay away.
00:02Oh, and since you girls need a new vocal stem,
00:06you can use this one.
00:07Ooh, ah, ooh!
00:13Hello, hello, hello!
00:15She's the shape-shifting superstar of Indianapolis.
00:18It's Sierra Mist.
00:20Hello!
00:21Oh, my god!
00:22Give me some chills.
00:23Oh, mwah, mwah.
00:25Oh, so sweet.
00:26Lovely to see you.
00:27Can I sit here?
00:28Please, take a seat.
00:29Oh!
00:30How are you?
00:31I'm fabulous.
00:32How are you?
00:33Oh, thank you.
00:34Yes, doing a fabulous job.
00:36Yes, Midwestern sisters.
00:38Hello.
00:38You know how we get down.
00:40We have to be crafty and creative and resourceful,
00:43and you know how to turn it out.
00:44Yes, ma'am.
00:46Like what you're watching?
00:47Well, be sure to click like and subscribe.
00:50So now, this is hello, hello, hello.
00:53And first things first, I would like to know,
00:56where were you when you got your first call from RuPaul's Drag Race?
01:00Ooh, blast from the past.
01:02Okay, so I was headed to a drag show, and my drag sister and I parked in the parking lot
01:07at the very same time.
01:08She's parked where you are.
01:10Uh-huh.
01:10And my phone is ringing.
01:12Uh-huh.
01:12And I have to pull over very quickly.
01:15And they say, hello.
01:17It's Drag Race.
01:18And I'm looking at her through the window, and she's like, we gotta go, we gotta go.
01:22And I go.
01:24And I had to spend the entire evening sitting next to her, sitting on a secret, just inside Giddy.
01:29And so excited.
01:30Couldn't even focus.
01:31Busting at the scene.
01:32I'm about to bust.
01:33I'm about to bust.
01:35So how long have you been doing drag?
01:36I am coming up on my sixth year in drag.
01:39Six years.
01:39And how many times did you audition for the show?
01:41Only one other time before this.
01:42Wow.
01:43I auditioned for season 16, and 18's my lucky number.
01:47And I said, I know that 18 is about to come my way.
01:50And so I took a little bit of time, put this tape together, and I said, this is our time.
01:54So twice.
01:54Two times was the charm.
01:55Two times is the charm.
01:56So now we get to watch or tape with the whole world and talk about the fierceness of Sierra
02:03Mist.
02:03Let's get some popcorn.
02:04Let's take a look, girl.
02:08My name is Sierra Mist.
02:09I'm 31 years old, and I'm the shape-shifting superstar of Indianapolis, Indiana.
02:13Drag is not always spooky, spooky, kooky, horror, scary, boo.
02:17Sierra Mist is also dash of 80s, fantasy, sci-fi, nerd, superhero.
02:21When I was a kid, I used to draw superheroes like crazy.
02:26And I told my preschool teacher that I was going to be Spiderman when I grew up.
02:30Sierra Mist is my not-so-secret identity.
02:33And as America's next drag superstar, I can empower so many people to fight for change,
02:42to fight for themselves, and in their darkest, loneliest moments, to remember that they are
02:48loved and special.
02:49How long did it take you to film this tape?
02:52Um, so Halloween is my busy season as an ooky spooky diva.
02:56Uh-huh.
02:56So I think the entire 31 days of October, I didn't sleep.
02:59I was like working on the tape, prepping stuff for the audition, and going to the gigs.
03:03And I sent it off as early as I could just to feel- I was like, I watched it
03:07and I said,
03:08this feels like me.
03:09Yeah.
03:10You know, me and you, Sierra, have a lot in common in our drag.
03:14And I'd like for the world to see our similarities.
03:17Let's take a look.
03:18Ooh!
03:18Theater queen!
03:20Acting.
03:20I grew up in musical theater, so naturally when I started getting into drag, there was
03:24gonna be a level of theatricality.
03:26Being a lead performer in so many of those shows showcased my lip sync style, and I think
03:31showed the community that while I may not be doing hips- hips?
03:35I don't know, girl.
03:37Established me in the community as a strong lip-sinker, an actor, a storyteller, and a personality.
03:41I feel like fans always have something to say about a theater queen.
03:46What do you- how do you feel about that?
03:48You know, I think that drag inherently is so theatrical.
03:52Yes.
03:52For my family, when they were getting used to the idea of drag, being able to explain it to them
03:57through the context of theater.
03:58Like, it's performance art, it's character, it's acting, comedy, costumes, all of this.
04:04Mm-hmm.
04:04They were like, oh, we get that.
04:06Yeah.
04:06We understand this world.
04:07So, anybody who has something to say about like, oh, theater queens, this, that, like, I'm sorry that some drama
04:13club dropout drag queen harmed you in the past.
04:15But, like, all of us are theater queens in some way.
04:19Some of us are just better at it than others.
04:20Yeah, it's so funny because a lot of us just needed somewhere else to perform.
04:25Yes.
04:25And we- because we weren't going to stop.
04:27We-
04:27So, it ended up being drag.
04:28Like, we can't help it.
04:30So many people who are queer don't get to play the parts that they would love to or that they
04:34feel drawn to.
04:34And I feel like drag is an opportunity for you to cast yourself in all of those roles.
04:38Yeah.
04:38Boom.
04:39Kick the door down.
04:39Kick the door down.
04:41Thank you, Jinx.
04:43Yes.
04:43Now, every girl has to do a Ru song performance in their audition tape.
04:48Yes.
04:48But your bitch ass had a different take on how to do a mother Ru Paul song.
04:54Let's take a look at that.
04:56Magical and mysterious.
04:57I'm a winner, baby.
04:59The rest are dismissed.
05:00Nonconformist.
05:00You can't ignormous.
05:01The band's adormous.
05:02My heart's enormous.
05:03Makeup clean.
05:04Makeup queen.
05:05Makeup, make you want to scream.
05:07My face come from outer space.
05:09Here to rule the world and take first place.
05:11Yes.
05:11And you ate that up.
05:14And you know, you better stand out because you don't know what the other girls are going
05:17to do.
05:18The girls ain't about to do that.
05:19I said, why would I just lip sync this song when I have an opportunity to show you that
05:23I love to write and be a lyricist too?
05:25You're talking shit.
05:26I'll block ya.
05:26Drag superstar?
05:28I got ya.
05:28Put on a show you like to watch.
05:30I'll call up Trixie and Katja.
05:32So what was the process like writing your own verse for the song?
05:35I actually just sort of wrote a bunch of different genres of lyrics and rocks together.
05:40So I was like, this is more of a bitch track.
05:42This is more of who I am.
05:44This is something that's more emotional or a queer anthem.
05:47And then looking at sort of the song list, I was like, how do I want to deconstruct the
05:51best parts of these and tell a story about who I am to ASMR lover?
05:55And that song is such a bop.
05:58Yeah.
05:58So I felt very inspired to be like, let me be a blue alien bitch and turn this rhyme
06:02out for you and just dance around in my spaceship.
06:04Yeah.
06:05One of my favorite parts was the caress on the robot man.
06:07Yes.
06:09I love it.
06:09That robot man.
06:10What do you think was the part to you in your videotape?
06:15Ooh.
06:16I love an eighties like power ballad.
06:19And so there's a song that honestly should be a drag race lip sync song at some point
06:23called Self Control by Laura Branigan.
06:25Okay.
06:25I'm gonna look it up.
06:26And I just felt so woman fierce.
06:30Yeah.
06:31I was up against a brick wall, big eighties hair, black hooker dress from the eighties,
06:36vintage.
06:36I was like, oh, I'm an eighties music video star right now.
06:39Yes, yes, yes.
06:40I love it.
06:41And on the opposite end, what do you think was the cringiest moment in your video?
06:45Oh, I cry a lot.
06:46Oh, okay.
06:47You cried in it?
06:48I'm a very emotional person.
06:51You better give us emotion in the tape.
06:53Vulnerability.
06:53That's what we want.
06:55So I'm like, yes, I'm an alien monster, but also I have a heart.
06:59I may look scary, but I'm really nice.
07:01Do you have the time?
07:02No.
07:03Well, the library just opened.
07:05Oh, .
07:05So it is time to look at your reads.
07:09Um, glasses, please.
07:12I can't wait to see how this turns out.
07:16Trinity the Tuck.
07:18Girl, you're so country.
07:19You don't use Tinder to find dates.
07:21You use Ancestry.com.
07:23If Trinity was any more inbred, she'd be a sandwich.
07:27Oh!
07:29Oh, you're starting off real correct.
07:32Well, thank you.
07:33Real correct, yes.
07:33Mistress Isabel Brooks, a wig aficionado.
07:37I love what you've done with your hair.
07:40Now tell me, how'd you get it to come out of your nose like that?
07:43Because she's a what?
07:44Beef.
07:44Oh!
07:46Georges is such a little whore.
07:48She brings her own step stool to the glory hole.
07:51Georges is such a little whore.
07:56Her meet and greets now include on-site chlamydia testing.
08:00Oh!
08:02The three-in-one?
08:04You're very generous with that.
08:05Oh, my God.
08:07Now, do you stand by these reads?
08:09Um, they could use a refresh.
08:10Yeah, she said they could go even harder.
08:13There's more material now.
08:14You know, those girls have come back again and again and again.
08:16She said, I could revisit.
08:17We can go harder.
08:18Yeah, we could be meaner.
08:20Oh, the library was open.
08:22But where the book was open,
08:23the book's worth checking out?
08:24Comment below.
08:26So after the reads,
08:28we're going to keep this messiness going.
08:29Okay.
08:29And I have a few questions for you.
08:31And you can answer as quickly as possible.
08:33It's like very, very rapid fire.
08:35Okay?
08:35Okay.
08:35You ready?
08:36I'm buckled in.
08:36One, two, three.
08:38Let's go.
08:39Who was the biggest flirt on the show?
08:41Uh, uh, uh, Vita Von T. Starr.
08:44Who do you text with the most?
08:45Uh, Kenya Pleaser.
08:46Who are you taking out of the group chat?
08:49Ooh!
08:49Um, she was never in.
08:50Jane Dom.
08:51Jane Dom.
08:52Ooh!
08:53Is there a second group chat that we don't know about?
08:55Nope.
08:55She just didn't join the first one.
08:56Uh-huh.
08:57Who had the best entrance look?
08:58Ooh, me.
09:00Yes, period.
09:01Duh.
09:01And when you entered the work room,
09:03who was your biggest competition?
09:05Uh, Nina Coco.
09:08Who's the most delusional?
09:09Athena Dion.
09:10Okay.
09:11And who's the messiest?
09:12Messiest, like, problematic?
09:14You tell me.
09:15Um, I have the messiest station,
09:16but I do clean it up.
09:17I just like to spread out.
09:19Uh, messiest in general is, uh, Briar Blush.
09:22Okay.
09:22I'm kinda vibing with that.
09:23Who is most likely to crash out on the internet?
09:26Pfft.
09:26Athena Dion already did.
09:28Uh-uh.
09:28And who should not have auditioned for this season?
09:31That is cheating!
09:32Hey!
09:33They got on the show anyway!
09:34Give me a word, sir.
09:34That question is not on those cards.
09:36Who shouldn't have auditioned?
09:39Hey!
09:40I'm just reading the cards, baby!
09:42Pass?
09:43Smash or pass?
09:44Smash or pass?
09:45Okay.
09:46My sister decided to pass, and that's okay,
09:48because I don't think I answered that question either,
09:50because I was like, that is rotten.
09:52That's messy boots!
09:52And got it.
09:53And us theater queens, we are congenial.
09:55I said, that's not my line.
09:57Okay.
09:57Moving on.
09:58Well, baby, Miss Sierra and Miss,
10:00you have been the most refreshing beverage today,
10:04and it is a wonderful, wonderful honor
10:07to get to know you and continue to be a sister, honey.
10:11You as well.
10:12Yes, baby.
10:13I'm so proud of you.
10:13Congratulations on everything you're doing,
10:15and I can't wait to see what else you do.
