26:41like nana and my like family and her just feel so much more connected to that it's just been so

30:27bit of sleep but you've been going through it like every week and i feel like to get that first

30:32this is so big for you so like yeah also like a performance challenge from like the lip sync
30:37slayoffs like redeem that yeah that that was the most important thing for me is like the slayoffs felt
30:42so different than yesterday's challenge because you're competing against somebody yesterday it
30:49felt like the first time that i went out there by myself and just vibed with the judges and did

30:55performance i love to dance so much for some reason when i perform everything goes out of my head except
31:02the moment and the fun i'm having my mom and i shared this commonality of dance from my earliest
31:09childhood memories it was times in the studio and then i just danced and it made my mom happy so
31:17i just kept doing it and it really made me happy too i haven't really told you all but um
31:24yeah this is
31:26the uh 10th year anniversary of my mom's passing too and i've just been um dealing with a lot of
31:34regret
31:35here and missing her a lot what do you regret well everything my mom was like one of my best
31:44friends uh
31:46yeah i really feel that i didn't use my time enough with her which sucks oh sorry
31:58i didn't come out to her i didn't let her into my partner and i's life and just being here

32:05being so happy here i just really wish i want to share it with her i feel like really close

32:11being here and it's been a lot to deal with on my own a lot of it each time i

35:52this dress oh it's ebony motherfucking labelle it is giving fully realized conceptual uniqueness

36:12little twist of what's going on over there it's a lovely leopard print gown and there's rosebud

37:12wow i completely transformed the dress i took the whole thing apart used it for patterns i took the
37:19black material and created a new legging to elongate the body and then i made this structural jacket dress
37:25it's a little mcglaire a little punk it's giving vivian westwood goes north to the highlands
37:32inspired i feel like i manage a rock band i have power and i'm not afraid to use this
37:38i feel like i definitely would be firing someone i'm firing the other three designers because they can't
37:43sell say it's melinda welcome our designing women first up ebony labelle now tell me about your look
37:54and how did you transform your dress into this so i took the skirt and i used it as this
38:00skirt as a
38:00base i sewed the whole top with some of the fabric that the dress was made out of and then
38:05i bedazzled and
38:06bling bling bling yeah but i did so i love the transformation of this dress this is something
38:12so quintessentially you that i could absolutely see you wearing out i love the classic burlesque
38:18elements with little ruffles i love the asymmetry the sparkle the shine it's cheeky but classy at the
38:25same time somehow i can see that the dress is still there but i feel like the construction could have
38:30been
38:30tweaked a little bit tighter the challenge was to take this black dress and make it uniquely you
38:36and you can see that in the way that you walked out because you felt like you you're not just

39:02know what i'm just gonna cut her up so i cut the whole thing into strips and that's where these

39:08come from so this is all the remnants of that dress i really get your drag and i love how

39:14who that is and what she wears it's giving me jlo and her iconic versace number at the grammys
39:22but the brief was to transform the dress all you did was use little pieces of the fabric from it
39:30to accentuate a completely new dress but you look good gal thank you next up van goss tell us about
39:39your look and how you incorporated the little black dress into it so i used it to create these pattern
39:45pieces on the jacket dress moment and then added in the plaid to kind of round it out and then
39:51i took
39:51a little black dress material to create more of a legging so it kind of has elements of a little
39:55black dress but a little black legging pant moment well as per usual you took a big bite out of
40:01a design
40:01challenge can't help it i love the silhouette i love that i can still actually see elements of it in
40:07there i love that it's so you as well it's very your taste your drag it fits you beautifully i'm
40:13in awe
40:14of the of the craftsmanship the tailoring and i have a scottish grandma which is not immediately
40:19apparent so i'm a sucker for plaid just fantastic next up carabel tell us about your look and how you
40:28incorporated the little black dress into it so this week ebony and i had a powerful conversation about
40:33our blackness so this look was kind of a love letter to that obviously i don't design last
40:38week i did really well so i didn't want to reinvent the wheel so i kind of went in that
40:42same structure
40:42and everywhere you kind of see like the flower trim i put the black dress as the trim and then
40:48the
40:48flowers over top um here and on the train as well and on the do-rag you look gorgeous stunning
40:54and i can
40:55so empathize with everything that you just said about being black and black identity but the
41:01assignment is uniqueness and when you came out i was struck by how it looked like the look that you
41:08designed for brooke which by definition doesn't make it unique you can't actually see any of the black
41:14dress on your outfit because it's covered by something else you do look beautiful in this it's
41:19a great silhouette on you i love this color palette on you it's rich it's gorgeous but unfortunately misses
41:24the mark when it comes to the challenge i think that your black experience is uniquely you
41:30and none of us are going to touch that that's your your gold yeah the dress is not unique but
41:38girl
41:39you definitely are thank you there's the majesty to this look there's a regalness and there's also
41:45an iconography to it and that reminds me that all of humanity is one family and our mother if we
41:52trace
41:53her back far enough came from africa all of us and i love the braids that wrap with the gold

43:47so good and i like i totally understand the critiques even when i was doing it i was like i
43:52don't think
43:52this is the challenge but i ended up with this great dress lovely gowns lovely gown it's very sammy
43:58it's very me i feel like i really did the best that i could do and i know that in
44:04this challenge it's all
44:05about keep knocking on the doors because at one point one of them will open i'm really happy about like
44:10the critiques and how they saw the look and i feel like the look represented something a little
44:14different for me but i understand that i didn't complete the assignment but i feel like the next
44:19challenge is something that's up my alley i'm happy that it's more of a dramatic side opposed to comedy
44:25i grew up doing acting i wanted to be an actor before i was a dancer and i trained for
44:29that i feel
44:30like it's really like that's what i do and that's who i am i feel good about going into this
44:34challenge
44:34i audition all the time doing monologues but again now there's only three of us the stakes are
44:40even higher so it's like you have to fight hard this is not the time to falter if any moment
44:45ever
44:46that you needed to be at your a game it's right now i need to win this round because the
44:51chances
44:51are getting slimmer and slimmer and you can literally see that top four spots slipping away i i've never felt
44:59more confident about a challenge coming up than right now work for real for real like i need to
45:05be in that top four this is mine to win i do not want to go into that last round
45:11i know that caramook
45:13has acting experience as well as me but ebony's a wild card i'm just gonna tap into that vulnerable
45:21side and show the judges i think they've seen a lot of me and they know who i am and
45:26they know my fun
45:26and they know my light and they know my bright and i just want them to see like all of
45:32the pain and
45:33the challenge that i've had to work and go through as a fucking black trans woman to get here and
45:41fight

46:16calm right before the storm i got a mission that needs to be accomplished as we're about to get

46:35places everyone curtains up i know the material this is what i do this is my bread and butter
46:42this monologue i feel really speaks to me so i'm honestly treating it as every line every paragraph
46:50there's a story being told to the judges for this dramatic monologue i'm going into it really really
46:57different i'm taking all of everything i know and i'm throwing it away because i need it to be real
47:04and authentic and i need it to be from my heart above everything right now i want the judges to
47:13see
47:14the person behind the clown i am stripped bare and i'm not moving this is vulnerability at its greatest
47:28everything changed the day i got the call it's the call that every drag artist dreams of it's the call
47:35every drag artist dreams of the one that makes it all worth it the one that makes it all worth
47:45it
47:46beckon for stage time gigs that no one wanted to take i took gigs that no one else wanted to
47:54take
47:55i took i took all for another chance to get on that tiny stage dancing for tips dancing for tips
