Brut. journalist Jami Male attended the Film Independent Spirit Awards in Hollywood on February 15, where actor and comedian Kumail Nanjiani got emotional while speaking to Jessica Weitz with the American Civil Liberties Union about U.S. immigration.
Nanjiani, a Pakistani-born naturalized U.S. citizen who moved to America at age 18, stated that the fact that many Americans are "demonizing" immigrants who came to the United States seeking a better life is "really, really heartbreaking."
