A man has been imprisoned after admitting stealing railway cable near Wakefield, causing disruption and significant costs.

00:12Police were called to Oakenshaw Junction in May last year following reports of someone stealing
00:17a cable by a large fire which was believed to be burning the material. Officers arrested Andrew
00:23Holland at the scene. During an interview, he admitted taking the cable and acknowledged
00:28carrying a box cutter. 38-year-old Holland from Wakefield admitted theft at Leeds Crown Court
00:35and was sentenced to 20 months in prison. Police say these crimes risk lives and endanger
00:42staff and passengers on the network.
