New YouGov research for Keep Britain Tidy suggests millions in the region have littered in the past year. The charity is calling on residents to back the Great British Spring Clean in March.

00:09A YouGov survey for Keep Britain Tidy suggests around 2.9 million people across Merseyside,
00:16Cheshire, Cumbria, Greater Manchester and Lancashire dropped rubbish.
00:21More than 1.6 million said they left food items because they believed they would biodegrade,
00:27whilst almost 611,000 said they'd left rubbish at a bus or train stop.
00:34The charity says volunteers and councils are left to clear the waste.
00:38Keep Britain Tidy is urging people to use bins or take rubbish home during its national campaign
