00:00The first quote in our episode today, inshaAllah, that I have picked is titled feeding people.
00:05The quote states, one of the noblest acts ever is to distribute food among the needy and hungry.
00:11On the top of that, you can also feed them with knowledge, encouragement, validation, and love.
00:16Now, there are a couple of reasons why I have actually selected this quote for the first episode of our
00:22series in Ramadan.
00:23One of them is that it's very relevant to Ramadan.
00:25I mean, people will be fasting, hungry, and they wanted to eat, so it's the best opportunity for you to
00:29feed them.
00:30On the top of that, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam informed us of the great reward of feeding the
00:36needy, the hungry, and the fasting people.
00:39The Prophet Muhammad sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said that if you provided food to a fasting person, whether during Ramadan
00:43or outside Ramadan,
00:44you will get the reward of that particular fasting person without diminishing anything from his reward.
00:49So it's an opportunity to multiply, double or multiply your own reward.
00:54So it's a great, great act of goodness.
00:56In fact, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, when he migrated from Mecca to Medina,
01:00his first speech was,
01:02يَا أَيُّهَ النَّاسِ
01:03O people, أَفْشُ السَّلَامِ
01:05Spread peace.
01:06وَأَطَّعِمُ الطَّعَامِ
01:07And feed people.
01:08SubhanAllah, the second item on the list in this beautiful speech was to feed the people.
01:13So it's a great virtue.
01:14And by the way, the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam, in this narration, he did not say feed the hungry.
01:17He said just feed with food, provide people with food, any people, poor or rich.
01:23Of course, the less fortunate people among the Muslims and even non-Muslims, more deserving of food and shelters and
01:31other necessity.
01:32However, this is not just the command that the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam gives.
01:34It's not just limited to those who are poor and hungry.
01:37So invite each other in Ramadan with that particular intention.
01:40And don't think that because you perhaps don't have the means to invite people for a big fancy meal outside
01:45or at home.
01:46Remember that a companion came to the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam or a certain group of companions.
01:50And they told the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam that we don't have the means to provide food.
01:53And the Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam told them perhaps you can give them some dates.
01:57And they said even dates we don't have.
01:58The Prophet sallallahu alayhi wa sallam said even a cup of water.
02:00Even a cup of water to break the fast of a person during the month of Ramadan would grant you
02:05the same reward.
02:06So what are you waiting for?
02:07Now this is the first night of Ramadan.
02:09I want you to plan inshaAllah ta'ala ahead of time how many people are you going to feed during
02:13the month of Ramadan so that you can gain this beautiful reward.
