Transcript
00:00I want my grandmother to use Mobad for some delivery of some food or beverage.
00:25Hi, I'm Dong Jin Hyun,
00:27head of Hyundai Motor Group Robotics Lab.
00:30I'm responsible for leading Robotics Lab's vision and the team,
00:34achieving this with our robotics solutions.
00:38Robotics Lab is a dedicated research hub
00:41that promotes business for robotics and future mobility.
00:46It was established under the philosophy of the Progress for Humanity
00:51with the goal of creating robotics technologies
00:54that enrich our everyday lives.
00:57We focus on developing innovative robotic solutions
01:01like our latest product, Mobad.
01:06Mobad stands for Mobile Eccentric Droid.
01:10It is an advanced robotics platform developed by Hyundai Motor Group Robotics Lab.
01:17Mobad is a mobile mobility platform under the concept of what we call
01:22go anywhere, do anything for everyone.
01:26The first time I saw the concept of Mobad,
01:29I thought that this one can be utilized for our base platform
01:35for executing the autonomous driving algorithms.
01:41I always say democratize the autonomous driving.
01:46So I want everybody to utilize the autonomous driving algorithm for their daily use cases.
01:57Mobad can drive uneven terrain and outdoors and indoors.
02:02So if we can give or provide the perfect autonomous driving algorithm for Mobad,
02:10they can utilize Mobad for their daily life.
02:14So that's truly the first goal of the Mobad concept.
02:21Our team, they paid a lot of effort to implement this dream,
02:27but we just, you know, keep just trying very hard.
02:31But someday I think we can make our dream come true.
02:37As a robotics engineer, we have two missions.
02:42The first mission is mobility.
02:45And the second mission is manipulation.
02:48And Mobad is just, you know, first mission of ours.
02:52So if we solve the mobility problem together with autonomous driving algorithm,
02:59some mobility platform for multipurpose,
03:01and then we can just transfer to the second mission, manipulation.
03:07I want my grandmother to use Mobad for some delivery of some food or whatever.
03:15All the generation can utilize autonomous driving based on the Mobad concept model.
03:23And right now the mass production model.
03:26We gave a lot of thought about how to reduce the cost.
03:31This is very sensitive problem.
03:33But how to utilize the ecosystem of automotive engineering?
03:37And how to just drive autonomous engineering ecosystem for robotics ecosystem.
03:44That is another, you know, problem while working for the Mobad.
03:49And then we just try our best to, you know, give affordable price ranges.
03:55I can say we just keep trying to provide the value at the affordable prices,
04:03utilizing, you know, automotive engineering ecosystems.
04:09It features our four independently controlled inhaler motors and a unique eccentric mechanism
04:16and remain stable on uneven surfaces.
04:20Autonomous driving robotics technology ensure fast, efficient obstacle detection and avoidance,
04:28even in crowded environments.
04:30We integrated advanced sensor modalities such as LiDAR, RGBD cameras, and LADAR,
04:38so Mobad can intelligently perceive each surroundings,
04:42allowing for fully autonomous movement.
04:46Combined with AI-powered obstacle detection,
04:50this allowed for safe operation and fast delivery times in busy environments.
04:55We developed our own system to ensure all sensors communicate with each other efficiently.
05:03And we achieved this without impacting the unit's sleek design.
05:09Behind the robot, there is a really big world, you know, including mathematics,
05:16and AI, and engineering, and computer science, and mechanical engineering, electrical engineering,
05:22with UX, UI.
05:24All the, you know, engineering and multidisciplinary projects should be combined
05:31to generate some useful robotic solutions.
05:35You know, everything is just intertwined together.
05:38We cannot decouple all the area from the mobile.
05:42We just, you know, came together, and we solved it together,
05:46and give it some, you know, trial, and review the area.
05:51And then it's kind of AI training processing.
05:56Artificial intelligence and human intelligence just combine,
06:00and then trial, error, process should be, you know,
06:04best way to solve the problem, I believe.
06:07So I just, you know, followed what I believe just for the movement.
06:12And then I can say, we just keep trying our best to, you know,
06:17provide, you know, robotic solutions continuously.
06:23MOVET won the Best of Innovation Award in the Robotics category at CES 2026.
06:29The CES Innovation Award evaluate engineering, innovation, and design.
06:35And this award recognizes MOVET's combination of cutting-edge robotics technology,
06:42user-friendly design and interface, and further practical scalability.
06:48MOVET really enables business and customers to adapt the robot to their use cases.
06:56We first unveiled the production-led MOVET model at the International Robot Expo in 2025,
07:03and now mass production will begin in the first quarter of 2026.
07:11If I have to say the one word, unique,
07:18MOVET is unique robotic platform in the world.
07:24We've never seen that kind of mechanism so far.
07:28So only one unique mechanism, drive and lift mechanism, we call it.
07:36And second is, based on the unique mechanism, we just provide some solution together with AI and software.
07:45So, unique and unique and unique, go anywhere with your MOVET.
07:54We aim to make the robotics a natural part of our daily lives and build what we call a robot
08:01intelligence society,
08:03where robots assist humans.
08:07MOVET is a great example of how we combine creativity and engineering to shape and differentiate the future of the
08:16mobility and robotics.
08:20Hold on.
08:22Oh, thank you.
08:23Thank you so much.
