00:00Come outside and talk to me real quick.
00:04Hey, there's a child asking for help.
00:06I'm here to help this child.
00:07Why the f*** are you out here?
00:09Come out here and talk to me, man.
00:11No, why the f*** are you here?
00:12Okay, somebody called.
00:13Here we go.
00:14Bye.
00:15No.
00:16No.
00:17These are seven times officers saved kids in need.
00:21Starting with this small child who found herself living in the dirtiest home you'd ever see.
00:30On August 26, 2024, officers arrived at the home of a child, but before they could enter the house,
00:43they were stopped by the child's parent, who spent some time trying to convince them that no one was being...
00:49I have to, like, go inside and see where she sleeps.
00:55I can know who called because she's not in the closet.
00:57Right, I still need to see where she sleeps.
00:58She sleeps with me and her right now.
01:01Okay, I'm still going to see before I leave.
01:03I can't get in there.
01:05Why can't you get in there?
01:06Because we've got a couch and we've got two dogs.
01:10Right.
01:11The one dog is a...
01:13I've been here before, sir.
01:16I've been in this house, and I know what it's going to look like when I go in here.
01:19I'm not going to be surprised at all.
01:21But I do have to check the welfare of the child before I leave this house.
01:24Can I go get her?
01:26I'm going to see where she sleeps.
01:28I mean, when you act this way, that tells me that it's not going to be good when I go in here.
01:37Okay, and as a parent, you should know better.
01:40All right?
01:40Like, there's no excuse for it.
01:42So I'm going to see where she sleeps before I leave, or I'll call social services now to come pick her up.
01:47It's up to you.
01:48Although she had been here before, nothing could prepare the other officers for the absolute dump of a home they were about to enter.
01:55It's a little messy.
01:56I hadn't had time to clean it because I've been working.
01:58I know it's messy.
02:01I'm trying to get everything done, but everything takes money in it.
02:05I got you.
02:08I had all this clean, but it's not now.
02:13But I am trying to get this down.
02:15Hold on.
02:16I'm trying to put him up.
02:36I'm trying to keep it clean.
02:53But she's been eating.
03:06How do you get to the room where she sleeps?
03:30You gotta go over that.
03:32Okay.
03:34God damn it.
03:35That's f***ing gross.
03:36That's crazy.
03:45I'm coming in here.
03:59Why sit back there?
04:00Okay, I need you to go on in for me.
04:01I have to keep our dog back here.
04:11Where does she sleep?
04:15Okay.
04:16Okay.
04:28Yeah, we had our dad back here.
04:30Okay, I'm going to need you to move out of my way where I can see.
04:41Oh, my gosh.
04:59I can't get down to there.
05:11Getting to the child's sleeping area was oddly difficult, but getting out of the home proved even more of a challenge.
05:34Can you signal six Amber back at DCBS and just advisor? It's worse than the last time.
05:41Oh, that's just gross.
06:02Oh, God.
06:07Oh, there's some...
06:09There was no way the officers were going to leave the child in a home littered with dog poo, trash cans, and uneaten leftovers.
06:24So they promptly called Child Protective Services.
06:27As for the parents, they ended up getting what they deserved.
06:30Watch your hands on me, guys.
06:32I know.
06:34That's a good thing.
06:36Babe.
06:43Mr. Rand?
06:45Yes?
06:45You're going to stand around and put your hand on the back for me.
06:47Okay.
06:47They were both charged with first-degree criminal ass of a child, first-degree wanton endangerment, and endangering the welfare of a...
07:00At the very least, officers were able to save this kid before any more harm came to her.
07:05This next...
07:06Child had to be rescued from the literal cage his parents made for him.
07:09The game of this!
07:11Keep him from kicking holes everywhere in the house.
07:15Do you like the gate open?
07:17Yes!
07:18In Henderson, Nevada, a school truancy officer arrived at a home for a welfare check because some of the kids failed to show up for school.
07:26And what he found was truly shocking.
07:28It sounds like you've got some challenges here at the house.
07:30Your wife and you have different schedules to probably try to handle the kids and stuff like that.
07:35That's great.
07:36It sounds like you're trying the hardest you can to make the situation work, right?
07:39So, but they still have a job to do based on, you know, their policies.
07:43The students, yes.
07:44We're just checking because they haven't been at school.
07:49He's not in school today.
07:50Yeah.
07:51After a brief introduction, the couple finally lets the officer into their home, where he immediately sets eyes on a massive cage built into the living room.
07:58He basically, we had to do this because it keeps him from kicking holes everywhere in the house.
08:07Does he have like, he doesn't hit his head on the walls or anything like that?
08:10No, no.
08:11Okay.
08:13Um, how about the other children in there that are supposed to be at school?
08:17Yeah, they're upstairs.
08:18Are you able to get them down here?
08:20Yeah.
08:20Leaving the 11-year-old in a cage was one thing, but the other problem was the state of the kids' living area.
08:27According to the police report, the cage was littered with feces and trash and was not a suitable living condition for anyone, let alone a...
08:35So my concern as a safety officer is what happened in the case of a fire?
08:42Oh, that can be cut right there.
08:44It's just tied up.
08:45So that door opens right up.
08:47And the other one has it locked.
08:48So he could open it and yank it?
08:50Does he have both?
08:52Uh, no.
08:53Well, it's just tied up right now.
08:54It's just tied up.
08:55Right, right, right, right.
08:56But, I mean, technically...
08:57Okay.
08:58It opens right up.
08:59Okay.
09:00Yeah.
09:01Yeah, they were concerned about that when they installed it.
09:03Yeah, yeah.
09:04And that's, I mean, that's what we're looking for is the safety of...
09:07The father clearly didn't see anything wrong with the entire situation, explaining that the entire setup was just to protect him from himself and stop him from breaking stuff around the house.
09:16Unfortunately, the officers weren't buying it.
09:19So, um, the situation is, uh, we're probably gonna, we're gonna need somebody out in route here.
09:23So we got our SVU on the way.
09:26Um, their most autistic child whose name is...
09:30Is, um, basically caged into the downstairs living area.
09:36And when I say caged, caged.
09:39Um, he's naked.
09:41There's feces around.
09:43It's extremely messy in the area.
09:46And, uh, windows are boarded up.
09:49He doesn't have...
09:49I'm surprised he doesn't have a helmet on.
09:51You know, so he's not banging his head against things.
09:53But, like, he was pounding on the plywood that's over top of the windows.
09:57And it was...
09:58I mean, you could hear it from the street.
09:59I mean, just thuds, thuds, thuds, thuds.
10:02But when I was trying to ask him his name and stuff, he couldn't...
10:05Uh, he's not cognitively able to answer questions.
10:12So with that, I mean, he's been out of school for a while, I guess.
10:16And, I mean, I could understand why, in a sense.
10:19Um, I don't...
10:20I mean, you'd almost have to have a specialist come into the house and meet with him.
10:23Following his report, Child Protective Services quickly swooped in and took custody of the...
10:28...who was more than happy to finally get out of his cage.
10:32A game of men!
10:33Hey, that bubble guppies?
10:35A game of men!
10:36Oh, the gate opened.
10:38You have...
10:38You...
10:39Beautiful voice.
10:40I love to hear you talk.
10:41Can you tell me something else?
10:44The gate opens soon?
10:47Yes?
10:48Yes!
10:49Would that make you happy?
10:51Yes!
10:51Oh, I can't wait to make you happy, buddy.
10:54After saving the kid, both parents were arrested and charged with child...
10:57...and neglect, just like this next kid.
11:00Fairmore Police!
11:02Fairmore Police Department!
11:03Hold your mail, answer your phone.
11:06She's still breathing.
11:07On the 1st of January, 2024, Fairburn Police Department responded to a 911 call following reports that a three-year-old child was in critical condition...
11:17...and living in a bug-infested apartment.
11:19Although the caller was a woman, she had not provided her real name.
11:22When the police arrived on the scene, they found a man standing outside and approached him.
11:27So, how did you come to find yourself over here?
11:29She called me and was freaking out...
11:32...telling me that my daughter was malnourished and that she was sorry and she had to go.
11:40Where would she go?
11:41I have no idea.
11:42When's the last time you saw your daughter?
11:46It's been a while.
11:48She, um...
11:49...he kept telling me that she didn't want me around her because she had had issues with being a child.
11:55...and that, uh, because of that, she was uncomfortable with us being in the same room.
12:00There were reasons why she would sleep every time I came over and I could see her in at least two or three weeks.
12:06Okay.
12:06And when you saw her...
12:07...and when you saw her two or three weeks ago, her...
12:10...she was in good health or...?
12:12She wasn't.
12:13Okay.
12:14Apparently, it was the child's mother who had called the police and given a fake name.
12:19Now, she was nowhere to be found.
12:21While the officer was interrogating the father, another group went searching for the ailing child.
12:27It's overfed.
12:28Good.
12:34When my partner called the number back, an older male answered the phone.
12:39He has no idea who Ariella is and no one needs his phone.
12:44However, the phone number that came up on the 911...
12:47God damn it.
12:49God damn it.
12:49Holy shit.
12:52Fairborn police!
12:56She was on the wall this...
12:59I'll go.
13:01...when she called according to the jail verify.
13:08She's breathing.
13:09She's still breathing.
13:10Let's go.
13:10Let's go.
13:15She's still breathing.
13:16right here yeah she's still breathing i'll get out of your way sorry
13:29yeah it didn't look like it yeah i'd say just pick up and let's go yeah yeah what are these
13:36bugs here thankfully emergency rescue teams were able to find her on time and immediately rushed
13:53her to the hospital while all this was going on the officers managed to lure the child's mother
13:58back to the scene there was no way she was getting away with this level of neglect well right now we're
14:03trying to figure out a whole bunch of things right a whole bunch of details um what'd you what do you
14:11want to sit down yeah we're gonna have you can have a seat in the back of my car um what's that
14:20uh yeah we are okay okay so let's i'll take care of that let's uh let's walk in the front of my car
14:28all right just your sweats okay perfect three point two all right go ahead and put your palms
14:33together behind your back three twenty two tell me how to tell me how to say your name
14:38rabia okay rabia my name is ryan but i'm a detective uh and i am the detective that's
14:43going to be handling this case we'll try to uh yeah
14:50the woman was ultimately charged with felony assault endangering and she was sentenced to nine
15:01years in prison and began serving her sentence immediately just like this next mother who left her
15:06son with two black eyes and bruises all over his body on october 29 2023 officers responded to a
15:25distress call made by a neighbor who had witnessed it being mistreated when they arrive at the apartment
15:30they're confronted by a woman who had no problem lying to the officers so basically we'll wait
15:36right here is because we got a car but there's a kid in this apartment my son yeah your son that
15:43he doesn't look well so that's why we're here to check on him yeah he probably grabbed the other
15:47name so he's kind of you mind if you check on him i'll bring him right up well so let let me be frank
15:55with you okay let me be blunt because he's kind of sugarcoating it so we got a lot about the house okay
16:00so we're going to need to go in and check on the house we're going to need to see where he sleeps
16:03we're going to need to see if there's food running water we're going to need to see if there's hot
16:07water that's everything okay so like i mentioned we're going to have to go inside regardless okay
16:11the homeowners were obviously hiding something a secret that couldn't remain hidden for long
16:16because after a few exchanges they finally let the officers in and what they discovered shocked
16:21them to their very core
16:26i just have a mom because my bill is so high
16:34like i said he's crazy he jumped
16:55they don't want to talk to you he rolled off the bed he said he called me as soon as it happened

19:10Put the dog inside.
19:12Come on Roxy.
19:14Hey, what's your name?
19:16You don't even know my name.
19:18I want to talk to you.
19:20You want to talk to me?

19:24You want to pet me?
19:26I will fight for him again.
19:28You want to pet me?
19:30you and the baby daddy.
19:32I know who called you.
19:34Seeing that her outrage was misplaced and only making everything worse, the mother began telling the officers a whole other story.
19:40His dad, Gilbert Martinez, don't .
19:42You are .
19:44I raised him.
19:46I have been doing that with my dad's down.
19:48Let's see .
19:50He hit him.
19:52Ask my son.
19:54Hey, calm down.
19:55No, you took my son.
19:56Okay, well you know what?
19:58His dad hits him, bro.
20:00That's why I started from seeing him.
20:02Seriously, what's his name?
20:03It's Natalie .
20:04Natalie, Natalie.

20:08That's all I want.
20:09I want him.
20:10I want to press charges on his dad for hitting him.
20:12I want to press charges on that for punching me.
20:14I'm going to arrest that when I see her again.
20:16Natalie, calm.
20:17Tyler, take the badge off and steps me down.
20:18Natalie, come here.
20:19Why is he like that?
20:20Because he rolled off the bed.
20:21When he rolls over, he looks for me.
20:22He's a mama's boy.
20:23Yeah.
20:24I went to work.
20:25My man was watching him.
20:26Natalie, Natalie, stop lying to me.
20:27I'm not lying to you.
20:28I put that on my life.
20:29You little .
20:30He has two swollen eyes.
20:31He has two swollen eyes.
20:32How is that?
20:33Because our bed is high, dawg.
20:34It was obvious the officers did not believe her story about the child rolling off the bed,
20:54so she decided to switch tactics by blaming the child's biological father for the injuries.
20:59You ain't gonna get me to calm down.
21:01I want my son to take his daddy to jail, dawg.
21:06Because he's the one who fractured my wrist and he's the one who abused his son.
21:11With the kid now safe with the officers and on his way to the hospital,
21:14it was time to arrest his mother.
21:16But it wasn't going to be easy.
21:18They took my son.
21:19Come here.
21:20Come here.

22:21What the f***?
22:23Ow.
22:23I'm trying to stand.
22:24I'm trying to wash my wrist.
22:26I don't care.
22:26You're fighting.
22:28My arm.
22:31You're a f***ing nigga.
22:33You're a f***ing nigga.
22:37Stop fighting.
22:39It's brushing already.
22:41Stop fighting.
22:41Go outside.
22:42Go outside.
22:43Ow.
22:45You're making me fall.
22:47You're sliding my socks off.
22:49Moron.
22:52She wasn't the only one arrested.
22:54Her boyfriend was also taken into custody, but she was the only one charged.
22:58She pleaded guilty to abandonment of a f***ing, resulting in great bodily harm.
23:03And bribery of a witness, and was sentenced to 10 years in prison.
23:06Talking about abusive mothers.
23:08This next mother was so abusive, her daughter had to call the police to save herself.
23:13And she does do.
23:16You're taking my baby.
23:17We are not taking her.
23:19You're just taking.
23:21She said she doesn't want me.
23:22She said she hates me.
23:24She said she wants to c*** me.
23:26On the 27th of October, 2024, officers arrived at the home of an abusive mother and were immediately
23:32confronted by the woman, who tried to make it look like there was nothing wrong.
23:35Can you come out here and talk to us real quick?
23:47Yes, there is.
23:51She's having no YouTube.
23:54Come out here real quick.
23:55I haven't done any pictures.
23:57Come here.
23:58Come outside and talk to me real quick.
24:00Hey, there's a child asking for help.
24:05I'm here to help this child.
24:06Yeah, yeah.
24:07Stay inside.
24:08All right, no.
24:08Here, I will speak with you.
24:10Speak with her.
24:11No.
24:12No, no, no, no.
24:13Please, please, Maya.
24:14We're just trying to figure out what is going on.
24:17She has no socks, really?
24:18She's got shoes on.
24:19Okay, she's got shoes on.
24:19She's fine.
24:20We're fine.
24:21She's fine.
24:22Calm down.
24:23Why don't you hear?
24:24Do you want to step right in here for me to talk?
24:26Haley?
24:26How old are you?
24:27I'm seven and a half, half a years old.
24:31I'm seven and a half, half a years old.
24:34I'm trying to ask you a question without...
24:36No, I'm not.
24:38I can't leave my bed.
24:40Do what?
24:40Making faces like her daughter was lying wasn't helping her case,
24:43and it only got worse the more the kids spoke to the officers.
24:46Has anything happened tonight?
24:48Uh-huh.
24:49What happened tonight?
24:50She said she doesn't love me.
24:52She hates me.
24:53Dillon, you want to take her to the unit scene and talk to her?
24:56No, please, please.
24:57Yes, he's taking her over there just to talk to her, okay?
25:00Come here.
25:01Hey, my name's Dillon, okay?
25:03Dillon?
25:04Dillon, yeah.
25:06Please, don't take me to the unit.
25:08He's just going to talk to her.
25:10Okay?
25:11Don't take my baby.
25:12We're not taking her anywhere.
25:14He is just coming to talk to her.
25:15That's why I wanted to step inside to be able to speak with you.
25:19Can you tell me what's going on?
25:21No, please don't take my baby.
25:22He is not taking her.
25:24He is going to talk to her.
25:25It's cold, so she's going to be right there.
25:27I know.
25:27I want her son.
25:29So, what is happening?
25:30What is happening tonight?
25:31She's a four-year-old kid.
25:33She just wants you.
25:35She wants you, too, okay?
25:37Who called 9-1-1?
25:39I don't want you.
25:40So, you didn't call 9-1-1?
25:42Okay.
25:43So, she did.
25:44She's four.
25:44Is she the only child that you have?
25:46She's seven, yes, sir.
25:47Okay, she's seven.
25:48I want you.
25:50Oh, my God.
25:51You're taking my baby.
25:52We are not taking her.
25:54You just took her.
25:56She's sitting right there.
25:57Look.
25:58She's literally sitting.
25:59It's my baby.
26:00Okay.
26:01Like I said, we're here asking you questions.
26:03I'll leave.
26:04I'll leave.
26:05It's my baby.
26:06The young girl had dialed 9-1-1, asking for help, and was about to tell the officers just
26:11how badly her mom was treating her.
26:13Now that mom's not around, what, you can open up to me, okay?
26:17So, my mom, I, I don't say anything, but my mom randomly says, you're, um, would I be
26:26getting in trouble if I say what she says to me?
26:28Nope.
26:28You be honest with me.
26:29You're not ever going to get in trouble with me.
26:31I don't want to be, I don't want to say it, but she says I'm, um, I'm.
26:38You can say whatever.
26:40You're not going to get in trouble with me.
26:42It's okay.
26:44She says I'm a liar.
26:45Okay.
26:46And I'm a liar.
26:48I'm not lying.
26:49And she said, you're done worrying.
26:51She said she hates me.
26:53She doesn't love me.
26:55That she never wanted me in this world.
26:57Aside from being verbally abused that particular day, it wasn't the first time officers had come
27:02to her home.
27:03As a matter of fact, they had responded to another call just the day before.
27:07You said another officer was here.
27:08When were they here?
27:09Yes, her day.
27:11Okay, what were they, what were they here for?
27:13My big girl.
27:16They were here for a big girl.
27:17Who?
27:18I'm trying to wonder.
27:20I just got stitches.
27:21So I'm really, really hurt.
27:24What, how did you get, what did you do?
27:27I work at a county animal shop.
27:30Okay.
27:31Okay.
27:31We got lots of big dogs.
27:33Okay.
27:35Ew.
27:35It's a piece.
27:37I don't know what else to say.
27:40I want my child.
27:41Your child is fine.
27:42We're not leaving with your child.
27:43I don't believe.
27:44Okay.
27:45Well, you can believe or not believe.
27:46Can I just six, seven?
27:48Do what?
27:51I'm freaking out.
27:52The woman was clearly distraught and seemed to be having a hard time expressing herself.
27:57But the same couldn't be said about her daughter.
27:59My mom is freaking out.
28:01She's okay.
28:02But can I have my dog, Bella?
28:04We'll, we'll see about Bella in just a minute, okay?
28:06We just want you to stay warm.
28:08Are you a girl?
28:09Mm-hmm.
28:10Wait, what?
28:11Mm-hmm.
28:11You're actually a girl?
28:12Mm-hmm.
28:13I just like my hair short.
28:15Oh.
28:16That's the same with my other mom.
28:18It is?
28:18My dad got two years old.
28:20Oh.
28:21I do have a really special picture of, um, in my room.
28:26And I really, really want it because I don't know what, because I, because it makes me feel
28:31very emotional.
28:33I feel calm.
28:35It does?
28:36What's it a picture of?
28:37It's of my brother, my dad.
28:40She stated no.
28:41Here's the, uh, mother's ID.
28:42The mother.
28:43And.
28:44Okay.
28:45Bad.
28:45And also me and my mom's belly.
28:50But a long, long time ago, before I was born, she had guns.
28:56Mm-hmm.
28:57And she does do drugs.
29:00And she does smoke Green Eagles.
29:03Oh.
29:03Okay.
29:03CPS already came twice.
29:06Like, one's at the school, one's here.
29:09And I'm just really scared.
29:12Man, we're here now, so you should feel safe.
29:15We'll make sure you're okay.
29:16Following her daughter's confession, the officers had no choice but to take her mother down to
29:20the station.
29:21She's going with y'all?
29:23Yes.
29:23Why?
29:23Go ahead and stand up for me.
29:25Whoa.
29:26Why?
29:27Because, stand up.
29:29I'm telling you to stand up.
29:30Yes, sir.
29:31But why?
29:31Because you're under arrest.
29:32Stand up.
29:33What did I do to my baby?
29:34Stand up.
29:35Right.
29:36For real, though?
29:37For real.
29:37Turn around.
29:39Are we for...
29:39Can I get...
29:40No.
29:41What did I do?
29:42Are we for real?
29:43Are we for real right now?
29:45For real, it's a heart attack.
29:46Well, it's a freaking heart attack.
29:48What's going on?
29:49What's up?
29:50Long time no see.
29:51What's going on?
29:53What is going on?
29:55Please.
29:57What is going on?
29:58Please.
29:59I'm not going to try and get it.
30:01Please tell me.
30:02She can cuss you.
30:03Yeah.
30:04She was then charged with endangerment, criminal mischief, and aggravated assault for spitting
30:09on an officer.
30:09The officers were only able to save her thanks to her desperate 911 call.
30:14But this next kid unfortunately found himself face to face with...
30:17On July 10th, 2024, Buffalo police officers pulled a car over for excessive speeding and
30:26tinted windows.
30:27In the car was 25-year-old Davon Roberts and his little nephew.
30:30We just pulled you over.
30:31You just want a high rate of speed, man.
30:32I want to see the kid get hurt and your tints are illegal, okay?
30:34Okay.
30:35Well, this is my sister.
30:36Yeah, I understand that.
30:38Just rate of speed as well.
30:40You got your license on you?
30:41Nah, I don't.
30:42I got a spin shot over there.
30:44There's nothing in the car we have to worry about?
30:45Yes, sir.
30:46There's nothing in the car we have to worry about?
30:48No, sir.
30:49No weapons?
30:50No drugs?
30:51Sir.
30:53I'm just asking you.
30:54Sir, you can't do it anymore.
30:55You can't do it anymore, sir.
30:56You can't do it anymore, sir.
30:57Thanks, man.
30:58Listen to the little bro.
31:04Listen to the little bro.
31:06You got your pad on you?
31:07Can you...
31:07I'm sorry.
31:08You got your pad on you?
31:08Yeah, sir.
31:09Although the traffic stop was going smoothly, everything was about to change the moment the
31:13officer realized he had no record of a valid driver's license.
31:16What we're going to do is I'm going to have you take some balance and come towards me.
31:19We're going to try and run your name a different way and see if I can find it pop up some other way.
31:22Okay, for sure.
31:22You can put the phone on me.
31:28You're going to kill me, bro.
31:30You're going to kill me, bro.
31:31You're going to kill me, bro.
31:32You're going to kill me, bro.
31:33Stop.
31:34I'm going to kill me.
31:35I'm going to kill you.
31:36I can't.
31:37I'm going to kill you.
31:38Fortunately, the kid escaped the crash unscathed, unlike his uncle, who ultimately died from
31:45his injuries.
31:46Meanwhile, in Farmington, New Mexico, officers were about to deal with another parent whose
31:50kid had no choice but to seek help.
31:53Why can't you ever just do what you're told, you stupid fuck?
31:56So I was like, why are you so upset?
31:58And he's like, you hurt me.
31:59You're upset.
31:59Because my dad helped me.
32:01Police responded to reports made by a school stating that one of their students had a
32:05dad of being physically and verbally.
32:08When they arrived at the home, they immediately realized how much danger the fuck was in.
32:13Officer Fernandez of Farmington Police Department.
32:24Hi.
32:24Hello.
32:25How are you?
32:26Can we talk to you outside?
32:27Yeah, absolutely.
32:28Okay.
32:28So we can hear that you're pretty upset.
32:31Okay.
32:31Um, so we're just going to talk to you about some stuff that's going on, okay, with your
32:37son.
32:38Yeah, absolutely.
32:38How do you say your name?
32:39Uh, I go by Athena.
32:41Athena?
32:42Okay.
32:43Okay.
32:43How do you say his name?
32:44Aragorn.
32:45Aragorn?
32:46Okay.
32:46Where is he at inside the house?
32:48Because I need him.
32:48He's in his room.
32:48I just put him in his room for a time out because I'm trying to walk away.
32:52Okay.
32:52Do I have your permission to go make sure that he's okay real quick?
32:55Absolutely.
32:55Okay.
32:56Hi.
32:58How are you?
32:59You okay?
33:00Mm-hmm.
33:01Yeah.
33:01You need a hug?
33:02Okay.
33:03You upset?
33:04Because my dad hurt me.
33:06Okay.
33:07Where did he hurt you?
33:08He pushed me wrong and fought me.
33:11Yes, ma'am.
33:11And that's where you did it.
33:13Just now?
33:14Okay.
33:15What happened with those?
33:17Do you remember what happened to your niece?
33:18Yeah.
33:19What happened?
33:20Oh, my goodness.
33:22It wasn't looking good.
33:23His dad had clearly been f***ing him, but when confronted by the officers, he refused
33:28to take accountability.
33:29The only kind of hitting that's happened before has been spanked.
33:33As far as any kicking and stuff like that, I have some aggression at times where I'll break
33:39personal items, but never anything that goes on to him.
33:44I do yell.
33:47You know, as a single parent, there's times where he doesn't want to listen to me, and
33:56so he throws tantrums, and I'm trying to get him ready for school, and I can't get to work
34:01on time, and I can't do the things I need to do to provide for him.
34:04And so it perpetuates, and that anger just builds up, and I don't know what to do, because
34:09I don't have a support system, and I'm transitioning, and I don't have a support system for that,
34:15and I just, I don't know what I'm supposed to do when I get frustrated, because it's like
34:21just now I was trying to walk away, and he keeps grabbing me and pulling me away and
34:25trying to, like, hit me and stuff, and so I keep trying to push him away, and finally
34:29I just pushed him away a little harder, and he fell, and I don't, you know, I don't know
34:34what to do in those situations.
34:36Like, I don't want to hurt him, I don't want to touch him, but if he's grabbing onto me
34:39when I'm trying to walk away and I'm frustrated, what am I supposed to do?
34:43And I've got him in counseling with, I've got him in family counseling, we're going to Judy
34:48Beck, and there's been times where we've talked about things, and we've been trying to work
34:52through it, so I'm trying to go through the motions to get to a point where it's not bad
34:57for him at home, but I, you know, I don't, I'm just lost, I don't, you know, I don't
35:02know what resources there even is for single parents to, you know.
35:07How do you discipline him?
35:09Generally, I usually try to put him in a timeout, but lately he's just been disobedient and stuff
35:15like that, so I usually just get frustrated, I'll take away toys and TV and stuff, but again,
35:21he just tries to escalate the situation, he'll call me names, he'll try to hit me, I'll tell
35:25him that's not appreciated, I'll put him in timeout, and then eventually he just escalates
35:30to a point where I don't really do it too often, but sometimes I'll spank him, and it's
35:34not harder than, you know, it's enough to make me make him go like this, but it's about
35:40like that.
35:41Okay.
35:41And it's, and he's usually, I wouldn't say fine after that, but he's frustrated and then
35:47he tells me I'm mean and then usually I can walk away at that point, but otherwise he'll
35:51just scream and cry for hours.
35:53Oh, okay.
35:54How many times do you just think?
35:55Maybe twice a week, it's not often.
35:58Like at the time?
36:00Oh, just once.
36:01Once?
36:01Yeah, just once.
36:02And then with your hand belt or?
36:05Just my hand.
36:06Okay.
36:06As for the little boy, he just kept revealing more disturbing details about his relationship
36:10with his father to the officers.
36:13So, we need to put him on a 48-hour hold.
36:16Oh, okay.
36:17With everything you just told me.
36:19I don't know if he showed you his, okay, you want to, hey, remember what we were talking
36:25about earlier?
36:26Yeah.
36:27Like what happened right here and on the other side, your boo-boos?
36:32That's from my dad.
36:33They're from your dad.
36:34And that's the blood came out of my nose.
36:37What was that?
36:38That's the blood came out of my nose.
36:40Blood came out of your nose and it was like this?
36:43It was really bad.
36:44Okay.
36:45And there's some in my bathroom.
36:47I can hear you.
36:48Let's just talk quiet, okay?
36:51Where's my dad?
36:52He's downstairs talking to somebody else, okay?
36:55Okay.
36:56So, we just got to make sure that you're okay.
36:58This is Aragorn.
37:00Okay.
37:00And he's six years old.
37:02The bruises on his face, he's got one right here on his right side that kind of looks like
37:06a line, it kind of looks new to me.
37:09On the other side is a little bit bigger.
37:11It's like right next to his mouth, kind of the size of the quarter.
37:15So, I don't know if there's any internal things going on.
37:19We are going to put him on a 48-hour hold.
37:21Okay.
37:21I'm going to try to transport the dad to detective, so.
37:26Okay.
37:26Where is Paratel?
37:28Dad is downstairs, but dad goes by Athena.
37:31Oh, that was dad?
37:33Yes.
37:33In the purple?
37:34Yes.
37:34Oh, okay.
37:35Sorry for that weight, Athena.
37:37So, there is some bruising and stuff on Aragorn, okay?
37:43It's cheap.
37:44Yeah.
37:44So, there's a few, and there's some scratches and some redness on him.
37:48So, we are going to, we have no choice but to put a 48-hour hold on him because he has
37:55bruising and stuff like that.
37:57So, what does that mean?
37:58So, what that means is he's going to be transported by medics to the hospital, and he's going to
38:05get evaluated for the injuries that he does have.
38:09He is making some statements about how he got those things, okay?
38:14So, that's something law enforcement has to investigate, and with that being said, we
38:18can't have you in contact with him until everything's done being investigated.
38:22Athena had clearly been doing his job, and although the boy was immediately handed over
38:27to social services, officers wanted to know what exactly transpired that morning.
38:32What happened?
38:33Yay!
38:34This morning, he had woken up, and it was a pretty normal morning, and I went to go get
38:41him dressed, and I asked him to turn off the TV, and it was time to get ready to go.
38:45And he said no.
38:45I waited a few minutes.
38:47I asked him again.
38:48He said no, and this time I turned off the TV.
38:51And I could tell he was frustrated, so I walked away.
38:53I let him be upset, and then I came back.
38:55I was like, all right, let's get dressed.
38:56He told me no, and I said, okay, well, then I'm going to be the one that gets you dressed
38:59then, because I need you to go to school.
39:01Yeah.
39:02And he said no, and then he started fighting and all this, so I sat down on the chair, and
39:07I was trying to take off his shirt, and he was swinging himself around, and he swung himself
39:12in the chair, and he hit himself on the cheek, and then he started crying and screaming, and
39:17then I didn't know what to do to get him to calm down, because he didn't, I tried to hug
39:20him.
39:20He didn't want that.
39:21I said, I'm sorry, he didn't want that.
39:23And then I tried to walk away, and that was pretty much it.
39:27He just kept escalating, and I just said, okay, fine, you know what, we just won't go
39:31to school today.
39:32And I've been jobless, so I've been trying to put job applications out.
39:36So I was frustrated, because I can't go and do that, because I'm worried about taking
39:39care of him.
39:40And so we've just been hanging out all day.
39:42We played with Legos.
39:43We had a Nerf war.
39:44I took a break.
39:45I was just on the computer, just doing some job stuff, and came in my room, and he'd asked
39:50me for a snack.
39:52I said, sure, give me just a second.
39:54And then he started calling me names and stuff.
39:57I was like, you're not going to have a snack if you're going to be mean to me.
40:00You know, you're just going to end up in timeout.
40:02He just kept being rude, and I said, please stop.
40:04And he said no.
40:05So I was like, all right, fine, you're going to go to your room.
40:07And so I went to go pick him up, and then he dropped his body dead to the floor and was dragging
40:10his body against the floor when I still had his arm in my hand, so I let go.
40:14And then he got all upset, so I tried to pick him up by the body and then place him in his
40:19room, and that's when he kept pulling on me, and kept pulling on me, and I was like, I even
40:23said to him, I was like, let me walk away, you know?
40:27And I told him I was frustrated.
40:29I was like, let me walk away, please.
40:31And he just wouldn't.
40:32And finally, I just, I pushed him onto his bed, and then I was able to get out the door,
40:35and I just shut it behind me.
40:36His bed's right here, and so when I pushed him, he was, it was a gasp.
40:40Against his bed, but he was still standing, so he's right, he was right there on his bed
40:47and on the floor, I guess I don't know.
40:48Okay, so he was swinging on you?
40:50Yeah, so I had him sat up on my lap like this, and I was pulling his shirt up, so his face
40:55was facing this way, and he was swinging around, and then he just turned towards like this,
41:01trying to get my hands off of him, and I let go, and he just went like that.
41:04And he turns himself, and he slams his head, but he hit himself right on here.
41:10Okay, well, that's pretty.
41:11It's pretty hard, and so I didn't know what he was upset about at first.
41:15I was like, why are you so upset?
41:16And he's like, you hurt me.
41:17I was like, I didn't hurt you.
41:19You hit the pillow, and then he's like, no, you hit me right here.
41:22Okay.
41:23Is that where these peas came from?
41:25Was that just like an ice pack or something?
41:27That was an ice pack, yes.
41:28Okay.
41:28Because afterwards, I saw it was red, so I asked him, I was like, do you want to put something
41:31on your face to make it feel better?
41:33Mm-hmm.
41:33And he said yes, and I was like, it should make you go away eventually.
41:36He wasn't getting away with this one.
41:38He had let his frustrations get the better of him, and had scored a one-way ticket to jail.
41:43So the thing is, is I'm just going to have you stand up, okay?
41:46Can you stand up for me?
41:47So right now, you're just being detained, right?
41:50You're under arrest right now, okay?
41:53Under arrest.
41:53For child abuse, for right now, okay?
41:57Because we believe that there's probable cause to believe that there is child abuse going on.
