00:00You're probably thinking the man in the white shirt is a prisoner trying to
00:07escape. The two men behind him are security guards chasing him down. But what
00:14if I told you those guards aren't actually stopping an escape, they're
00:20committing one. There are two accused murderers dressed as officers staging
00:26one of the wildest courtroom escapes ever caught on tape. And this is just one of the
00:3219 wildest courtroom escapes we'll be covering in this video.
00:42This is Madison Shy, who's faced with assault charges in Bay City, Michigan. Shy, sitting
00:48next to her attorney, was in shock. The judge just sentenced her to one year in jail for
00:53the assault charge. Her reaction? Run.
01:02Shy's girlfriend in the audience stood up to block the officers pursuit,
01:07buying Shy valuable seconds.
01:15The court officers were light years behind her, but she wasn't free yet.
01:23The door guard grabbed her by the sweatshirt, slamming her into a brick pillar.
01:40With the help of the second officer, Shy was forced to the ground and into handcuffs.
01:44Her escape attempt earned her an extra 98 days in jail for contempt, on top of her original 12-month
02:03charge. Shy's escape attempt was stopped by one brave deputy. But what happens when a defendant's
02:09escape attempt goes so smoothly that no one even notices?
02:20Like in the case of Dwayne Cheney, who's charged with murder in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
02:25Cheney was arrested in 2015 for premeditated murder.
02:29Cheney was moments away from learning his verdict when he stepped out for a bathroom break.
02:40The hallway was full of witnesses, but no one expected him to do this.
02:51Instead of turning back toward his courtroom, Cheney instead turned the opposite way.
02:55This is Cheney's father, waiting for him in the hallway. In seconds, the pair do the unthinkable.
03:06They walked calmly out the courthouse doors. Once outside,
03:10Cheney ditched his top layer of clothes and heads toward the street.
03:14His mother and girlfriend pull up in the getaway car. And just like that, Cheney is gone. His freedom
03:28is short-lived, however. Three days later, police got a tip-off from a neighbor and found Cheney hiding
03:34inside a garbage bin. Cheney's father, mother, and girlfriend were also charged with harboring a
03:40fugitive. If you thought that was the end of the story, think again. Back in court, Cheney was
03:46viciously attacked by his murder victim's sister during her victim impact statement. Cameras weren't
03:51there to capture the scene, but they did capture the aftermath.
03:56This is very emotional and traumatic for everyone who just witnessed that. We're not going to finish
04:01the sentencing today. As if that wasn't shocking enough, the victim's mother then apologized to her
04:07son's killer. In the end, Cheney was sentenced to life in prison for murder. Cheney's escape was so
04:26nonchalant that no one suspected a thing. This next defendant takes a page out of Cheney's book,
04:32but with one crucial mistake. This is David Knight, who's facing drug charges in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.
04:42When Knight was summoned to what he thought was a routine court hearing, he appeared voluntarily.
04:47Seconds later, the judge broke the news. He had an outstanding warrant for drug possession.
04:53He ordered police to arrest him, but Knight had a different idea.
05:04He slipped into an elevator just as it closed. Once out, Knight paused, but that was a crucial mistake.
05:11His hesitation caught the eye of a police officer, and when Knight started to run, the officer gave chase.
05:23Knight ran down the street as fast as he could, but it wasn't enough.
05:39The officer caught up to him just off camera, but he didn't walk away unscathed.
05:44He separated, possibly broke his shoulder. He also chipped a tooth and had multiple abrasions.
05:51Despite his escape attempt, the judge forwent a prison sentence and sentenced Knight to one year
05:57of probation for the drug charges. That deputy's heroic pursuit kept one more criminal off the streets.
06:03But in this next case, it's not the defendant that slips up, it's the deputy's.
06:08This is the case of Nicholas Tillard, who's charged with endangering children in Hillsboro, Ohio.
06:17Hoping for mercy, Tillard pled guilty to his charges, but when he heard the judge's sentence, Tillard panicked.
06:28Casually stood up, and then ran.
06:30Police gave chase, but they don't stand a chance.
06:42The first deputy fell flat on his way out the door, holding up all other deputies while Tillard made
06:48his escape. However, two hours later, police found Tillard hiding in a nearby suburb. Finally,
06:54Tillard would face his sentence. 12 months in jail for child endangerment.
06:58Tillard's escape attempt had deputies falling like dominoes.
07:02But what happens when the judge has to step in?
07:09Like in the case of Sidney Newsome, who's facing domestic violence charges in Pike, Mississippi.
07:15During trial, Newsome is asked to sign some paperwork. His mother and brother are watching
07:19from the audience. The deputy hands the signed paperwork to the judge, but Newsome has his own plan.
07:28When the bailiff blocks his approach, things get tense.
07:39The bailiff doesn't wait for things to escalate. She takes his elbow and leads him toward the door.
07:45But once Newsome realizes her plan, all hell breaks loose.
07:59She manages to grab him by her collar, but she can't contain him for long.
08:03Meanwhile, Newsome's mother and brother bolt out of their seats in a panic.
08:15Then the judge got involved.
08:21He slammed Newsome onto the table like a sack of potatoes.
08:25Then Newsome's brother joined the fray. Shockingly, he helped hold his brother down.
08:30The backup arrived. They arrested the brother, but later let him go after realizing the truth.
08:42Newsome, however, was dragged out in cuffs.
08:48The judge sentenced him to spend 48 hours in jail for contempt.
08:52This judge single-handedly ended Newsome's outburst.
08:55But in this next case, an entire family is out for blood.
09:04And the judge is powerless to stop them.
09:12In the case of Paul Wade, who's charged with felony possession of a handgun and two counts of murder in Louisville, Kentucky.
09:19Wade was arrested after stalking and killing two roommates in September of 2022.
09:24In court, Wade was forced to face the families of his victims, and he wouldn't walk away unscathed.
09:30Okay.
09:31All right?
09:31Yes, ma'am.
09:32All right.
09:35As court proceedings ended, Wade walked toward the door.
09:38Suddenly, the courtroom exploded.
09:57Both families ganged up on Wade while the judge sat calmly in her seat.
10:01Wade ran out of the judge's door to escape, but the attackers were hot on his trail.
10:16Even the judge has lost her composure.
10:19Help!
10:20Help!
10:20Help!
10:20Help!
10:21Help!
10:21Help!
10:22Help!
10:22Help!
10:23Help!
10:25As backup rushed to follow Wade, the remaining family members explained what happened.
10:30According to the family, Wade whispered an insult at them on his way out the door, hence the attack.
10:47Four family members were charged with contempt after the fight.
10:51As for Wade, he faced his life in prison for the murders.
10:55Wade was caught by the victim's family within seconds.
10:57But what happens when an escapee actually does make it out?
11:09Like in the case of Eddie Villalobos, whose charges include reckless driving, unlawful use of a weapon, reckless endangerment, and murder in Hillsborough, Oregon.
11:19Villalobos was in court after viciously stabbing an acquaintance at his apartment complex.
11:24Villalobos was cuffed at the ankles and the waist, but to keep the jury unbiased, the deputy was ordered to undo Villalobos' shackles while court was in session.
11:39Villalobos was well-behaved, so it came as a shock when he did this.
11:44Villalobos stood up to stretch his legs, then he bolted.
11:59Police were only seconds behind him, but Villalobos was fast.
12:25Villalobos flew down the stairs, almost free.
12:28Villalobos ran so far the police couldn't chase him, but his freedom didn't last long.
12:42Later that night, police got a call from a worried neighbor and found Villalobos hiding in the closet of a vacant house.
12:48That accused murderer, Eddie Villalobos, was found here, this apartment complex, right here behind me.
12:54Suzanne Siller lives in the apartment complex where a tip led law enforcement to Eddie Villalobos' location.
13:01What's going on? My doors are over there broken.
13:04And that's how, ugh.
13:06But now to find out, that's even more scarier.
13:09To find out, I live right here.
13:12To find out that he was in there, that's scary.
13:15Villalobos' speed earned him a few hours of freedom.
13:18But speed is nothing when a stun gun is involved.
13:24Like in the case of Derek Wright, who's charged with speeding, wanton endangerment, and domestic violence in Louisville, Kentucky.
13:31This is on the best chili I've ever tried.
13:33Can you fry it, bacon, fry it?
13:35Yeah.
13:35Can you fry it, and then you've got the crumb of it, and then you put it in there.
13:41Whoa, whoa, where are you going?
13:42Where are you going?
13:43Down after the rest.
13:44No.
13:44Down after the rest.
13:45Okay.
13:47So I can't go through the rest of it?
13:49Okay.
13:50Just looking at me, the cops in my mouth.
13:52Amen.
13:53Wright was in court for a speeding ticket, or so he thought.
13:57In reality, while processing the ticket,
13:59the judge discovered an outstanding warrant for his arrest for some previous domestic battery charges.
14:05We're going to do it.
14:06We're going to do it.
14:06We're going to do it.
14:06We're going to do it.
14:08Uh, when the case got dismissed, we're verifying it.
14:11I went to court for that.
14:14Do you think it was dismissed?
14:16Sir, I need you to calm down.
14:18We always verify them.
14:20Yeah, but if it's dismissed, you're good.
14:23If not, I'm going to take you to the test.
14:26I need to calm my mom if I'm going to get arrested,
14:29because this is something new to me,
14:31because this is the only thing that I was supposed to go to court for.
14:34It's unserved, so it's still good.
14:36Okay.
14:37Okay.
14:37He learned the truth.
14:39Wright panicked.
14:40Sir, you need to calm down, okay?
14:43They're going to go ahead.
14:44They're going to execute this.
14:45They'll let you take some time to call your mom.
14:47Wright was led away in handcuffs, but he had no intention of going to jail.
14:56Wright made a break for it, but the deputy held tight onto his waistband.
15:02The two took a tumble into the benches.
15:04You got it, this is there.
15:10Thank you, Mr. Tom.
15:13Give me your other arm.
15:16I got it, Tom.
15:18Hold your arms out.
15:20104, you can cancel that.
15:21We got it.
15:22I got it.
15:22Right's chance of escape was dwindling by the second,
15:28but he kept fighting the officers,
15:30forcing them to make a tough decision.
15:33Quit fighting.
15:34Quit fighting.
15:38Take him.
15:41I'm going to fight.
15:43Stop.
15:44Stop.
15:45After the stun gun, Wright was much more compliant.
15:49Are we done?
15:51All right, you're going to get you up.
15:54You're going to walk back there real nice, okay?
15:56We're going to play good today, okay?
15:58We're going to play good, all right?
16:00Because if you don't, I'm going to light your ass up.
16:03He was charged with third-degree assault,
16:06resisting arrest,
16:07criminal mischief,
16:08and disorderly conduct on top of his other charges.
16:12Wright's escape attempt ended before it ever began,
16:14but for this next defendant,
16:16not even bolted, bulletproof doors could stop his escape.
16:22This is Kyle Campion,
16:25who's charged with aggravated robbery in Darwin, Australia.
16:29Campion had only one security guard watching him
16:31when his armed robbery hearing was adjourned,
16:33and he took full advantage of the opportunity.
16:36He shoved the guard,
16:42grabbed a metal water bottle,
16:44and made a run for it.
16:49But Campion soon encountered a problem.
16:52The doors were locked.
16:59Breaking fast,
17:01Campion shattered an emergency fire exit door
17:03with his water bottle.
17:05Campion, barefoot,
17:06stepped over the broken glass to escape.
17:17However, his freedom was short-lived.
17:19Campion was found by police less than an hour later.
17:23The judge sentenced Campion to 19 months for the escape,
17:26plus a further two and a half years for aggravated robbery.
17:30Campion successfully escaped the courthouse all on his own.
17:33But what happens when an escaping convict
17:35has their entire family there for support?
17:43Like in the case of Michael Thomas,
17:45who's facing two charges of first-degree reckless homicide,
17:49in Milwaukee, Wisconsin,
17:5017-year-old Thomas was arrested
17:53after he killed a pregnant woman
17:54during an attempted robbery.
17:56This was the moment he learned his fate.
18:08Thomas' family exploded with rage
18:11at their son's treatment.
18:12Thomas' outbursts didn't last long.
18:21Deputies overpowered him
18:22before he even left the room.
18:31With Thomas under control,
18:36the police had a new safety hazard,
18:38his family.
18:39Listen!
18:40Listen!
18:41Right now!
18:42Right now!
18:42Right!
18:43Just please!
18:43Hey!
18:44Jesus!
18:44No good is going to be done
18:47by this corporate indisruption.
18:49Right!
18:49Okay?
18:50It is only going to make the situation worse.
18:53Luckily, the family calmed down.
18:55Although tensions were high,
19:05the situation was resolved
19:06without any injuries.
19:07But the same can't be said
19:09for the case of Decorius Wright
19:11and Calvin House.
19:15This is Decorius Wright
19:17and Calvin House,
19:18and they're both facing armed robbery
19:20and murder charges
19:21in Nashville, Tennessee.
19:23Wright, House,
19:24and two other accomplices
19:26were arrested for murder
19:27after a robbery gone wrong
19:29ended in the death
19:30of a university student.
19:31During the attempted robbery,
19:33Yorlitz was actually shot
19:34and then the kids took off.
19:36He did make his way
19:37inside of his home,
19:38but he was found
19:39around three that afternoon
19:41by a housemate.
19:42He was rushed
19:42to Vanderbilt Medical Center
19:44where he died.
19:45Because all four suspects
19:46were under the age of 18,
19:48they were sent
19:48to a juvenile justice center
19:50to wait for their trial.
19:51But things would go
19:52very, very wrong.
19:55Four dangerous teens
19:57still on the run tonight,
19:58two of them accused
19:59of murder
20:00before their escape
20:01from Metro's
20:01juvenile justice center
20:03on Saturday.
20:04At 9.30 p.m.,
20:05the group was cleaning
20:06the hallway
20:06when their supervisor
20:08was called away
20:08to a disturbance.
20:10That's when the group
20:11jumped into action.
20:12The third teen
20:25hesitated,
20:26double-thinking
20:26his decision,
20:27but seconds later,
20:29he followed
20:29his friends out.
20:34All staff had reported
20:35to the fight
20:36on the other side
20:36of the building,
20:37leaving the hallways
20:38clear for these escapees.
20:40By the time
20:48their supervisor
20:49got back to his post,
20:50the teens
20:51were long gone
20:52and he panicked.
20:53100 Woodland Street.
20:58Repeat the address?
21:01At the juvenile
21:01detention center,
21:03we had some youth
21:06escape from the
21:07juvenile detention center.
21:08Do I contact 911
21:09or do I contact the...
21:12Because I called
21:12the other number
21:13and he just had me
21:13on hold.
21:14So, like,
21:15I'm driving around
21:16and I'm trying
21:17to find them
21:17actually right now
21:18as we speak.
21:19Hours later,
21:20an emergency task force
21:21found right in house
21:22in the parking lot
21:23of a nearby
21:24apartment complex.
21:25We're very happy
21:26to have these two youth,
21:28these extremely dangerous
21:29youth,
21:29off our streets tonight.
21:31The other two boys
21:32were still at large,
21:33but not for long.
21:3417-year-old
21:35Brandon Carruthers
21:36and Morris Marsh
21:37are still on the loose.
21:38We're not going to stop.
21:40We've continued 24-7
21:41and we'll continue to look.
21:42Days later,
21:43they were spotted
21:44and arrested
21:45at a convenience store
21:46near the Kentucky border.
21:47Two detention center employees
21:49were fired for negligence
21:50that aided in the escape.
21:51The incident report says
21:53it recommends
21:54the termination
21:55of three employees.
21:57Metro Police saying
21:58at this time,
21:59they don't believe
21:59any overt criminal act
22:01helped them escape,
22:02but rather...
22:03A lot of gross negligence.
22:05Looking at their own
22:06internal report,
22:07I just saw a pattern
22:09of people not paying attention
22:11to what they should be doing.
22:13These clever teens
22:14took advantage
22:14of an unexpected opportunity,
22:16but in this next case,
22:17the defendant relies
22:19on pure brute force
22:20to earn his freedom.
22:28Corey Roan was charged
22:30with unlawful possession
22:31of a firearm
22:32and resisting arrest
22:33in Muscogee, Oklahoma.
22:35Corey had been in and out
22:36of jail all his life,
22:38but when the judge
22:39sentenced him to jail
22:40yet again,
22:41Corey refused to go back.
22:43Despite the judge's threat,
22:54Roan walked
22:54straight out the door.
22:56Court staff quickly
22:57follow him out,
22:59but Roan already
22:59has a head start.
23:00He makes it down
23:17two flights of stairs
23:18with no obstacle
23:19until this.
23:21This security guard
23:31caught Roan's collar
23:32and got dragged
23:33down the hallway
23:34by the fleeing suspect.
23:36The two slammed
23:37into a metal detector,
23:38breaking his grip.
23:39Seconds later,
23:40Roan had disappeared.
23:42The injured guard
23:43was taken to the hospital.
23:44Meanwhile,
23:45the sheriff sent out
23:46a public advisory
23:47about the escape.
23:48He's a violent individual.
23:50If they see him,
23:52if anybody knows
23:53where he's at,
23:54we're asking them
23:54to call 911.
23:56The police force
23:56waited for any sign of Roan,
23:58but what happened next
23:59shocked them to their core.
24:01Roan turned himself in.
24:03He walked into
24:04the sheriff's office himself.
24:06Roan was charged
24:07with escape and assault,
24:09and although his final act
24:10of repentance
24:10might find him favor
24:12with the judge,
24:12his ultimate sentence
24:13has yet to be released.
24:16Roan's escape
24:16sent a deputy
24:17to the emergency
24:18room.
24:19But in this next case,
24:20it takes a whole team
24:21of deputies
24:22to stop the violence.
24:26This is Andrew Wirth,
24:28who's charged
24:29with two counts
24:30of homicide
24:30in Oconomowoc, Wisconsin.
24:33Wirth was arrested
24:34after shooting
24:34and killing
24:35an off-duty police officer
24:36and her boyfriend
24:37after an altercation
24:39at a bar
24:39back in 2009.
24:41Wirth said something
24:42to Lewick
24:43and her boyfriend
24:43Peters came to her defense.
24:45Wirth says Peters
24:46told him to go outside,
24:47and that's when
24:48the shooting took place.
24:49When Wirth
24:50heard his charges,
24:51he couldn't control himself.
24:53Each of these
24:54are separate
24:54classic felonies
24:55and they're separately
24:56punishable by life
24:57in prison daily.
24:58No, your honor.
24:59You can't help this claim.
25:01Nothing, thank you.
25:03When the judge
25:03set his bond
25:04to $1 million
25:05to $1 million,
25:06Wirth exploded.
25:17A swarm of officers
25:19descended on him
25:20before he could even
25:20start to run.
25:22They carried him
25:23like a baby
25:23right out the courtroom door.
25:25Go!
25:26Taser!
25:26Taser!
25:27Taser!
25:27In the end,
25:33the judge
25:34sentenced Wirth
25:35to 10 years
25:35for his crimes.
25:37Wirth's outburst
25:38was as fruitless
25:39as a toddler's
25:40temper tantrum.
25:41But what happens
25:41when a defendant,
25:42desperate for freedom,
25:44attacks his own mother?
25:48Like in the case
25:49of Christopher Jackson,
25:50who's charged
25:51with two counts
25:52of assault
25:52of a police officer
25:53and trespassing
25:54in Corvallis, Oregon.
25:56The courtroom footage
25:57has no audio,
25:59but Jackson's
25:59flippant attitude
26:00shines through
26:01as clear as day.
26:12This is Jackson's mother.
26:19Jackson shoved
26:20his mother backwards.
26:24Caught off guard,
26:25she tried to talk
26:27some sense into him,
26:28but Jackson is
26:28out of control.
26:35Jackson rushes
26:37the podium
26:37and swings the chair
26:39at the judge.
26:40His attorney and mother
26:41run to the rescue,
26:42but no one
26:43can stop Jackson's rage.
26:45It takes two guards
26:55plus Jackson's attorney
26:57to pin him
26:58to the floor.
26:58eventually, Jackson's energy
27:10drains away.
27:11But now,
27:12officers have
27:13the opposite problem.
27:14Jackson acts like a dead weight,
27:29making the officer's job
27:30even harder.
27:36Eventually, Jackson is handcuffed
27:38and sentenced to six years
27:40in jail for his outburst.
27:41Jackson's own mother
27:43couldn't control his outburst.
27:45But what happens
27:45when the task falls
27:46to a bunch of unsuspecting jurors?
27:52Like in the case
27:53of Nicholas Carter,
27:54who's charged
27:54with aggravated assault
27:56of a minor
27:56in Skowhegan, Maine.
27:58Carter had just been found guilty
28:00of assaulting a 14-month-old,
28:02but instead of accepting his fate,
28:04Carter chose
28:04a different course of action.
28:11This is Carter,
28:13still handcuffed
28:14in the middle of an escape attempt.
28:16And this is one of the jurors
28:18for Carter's trial.
28:19Seconds ago,
28:20these three jurors
28:21were patiently waiting
28:22for the remaining jurors
28:23to arrive
28:24so they could begin
28:25the jury portion
28:26of that day's trial.
28:27But when Carter emerged
28:29from the courtroom,
28:29their plans changed.
28:34The juror grabs Carter
28:36by his jacket,
28:37but it's not enough.
28:45The juror is in no rush,
28:47and he has a good reason.
28:51The deputy is seconds
28:52behind Carter
28:53and gaining fast.
28:59But not only that,
29:01two jurors
29:02just arrived to court.
29:03Seeing the escaped convict,
29:05they too joined the chase.
29:10Carter trips
29:11right at the crucial moment,
29:13and he's done for.
29:18Carter was dragged
29:19back to court
29:20and sentenced
29:21to 10 years in prison.
29:22Carter's cartoonish timing
29:25earned him
29:25a fresh new pair
29:26of handcuffs.
29:27But in this next case,
29:28the defendant would risk
29:29anything for freedom,
29:31even if that meant death.
29:33This is Aubrey Trail,
29:35who's charged
29:36with first-degree murder,
29:37conspiracy to commit murder,
29:39and improper disposal
29:40of human remains
29:41in Wilbur, Nebraska.
29:43Sydney Loof
29:43was a cashier
29:44at a local grocery store
29:45when she met Trail.
29:47The two agreed
29:47to go on a date,
29:49but little did Loof know
29:50Trail already had
29:51a girlfriend.
29:52And the date
29:53was a trap.
29:54The day before the date,
29:55Trail and his girlfriend
29:56were seen buying
29:57hacksaws,
29:58food grinders,
29:59utility knives,
30:01and other cleaning supplies.
30:02When the day of the date came,
30:04Loof got into Trail's car
30:06and was never seen again.
30:07Later,
30:08Trail posted a Facebook video
30:10protesting his innocence.
30:11Hi, folks.
30:13I'll be trailed here.
30:15People's things
30:16I want to talk about.
30:17I'm a thief.
30:18I'm a thief.
30:19But I've been goddamn
30:20I've never killed
30:21anyone in my life.
30:22I've never hurt
30:23a female in my life.
30:24So take that
30:25for whatever the hell
30:26it's worth.
30:27And of course,
30:27again,
30:28I'm just a criminal,
30:29so you're going to
30:29believe none of this.
30:30And I guess it's
30:31really heroic.
30:32Despite his confidence,
30:34police quickly arrested him
30:35and charged him
30:36with murder.
30:36You are charged
30:37in this case
30:38to kill Sidney Loof
30:40purposely
30:41and with deliberate
30:43and premeditated malice.
30:45Trail still maintained
30:46his innocence,
30:47but things weren't
30:48looking good.
30:49The only thing
30:50they had not recovered
30:51was her other
30:52upper arm was missing.
30:55So essentially,
30:56she was cut up
30:57into 14 pieces.
30:58Trail knew
30:59he was losing this fight,
31:00so instead of letting
31:01himself die behind the bars,
31:03he chose to die
31:04in the courtroom.
31:06Stop recording.
31:10Using a razor blade
31:11hidden in his sleeve,
31:12Trail sliced his own throat
31:14in a suicide attempt
31:15in front of the jury.
31:26Paramedics rushed him
31:27to the emergency room.
31:29Despite the seriousness
31:29of his injuries,
31:31Trail made a full recovery.
31:33Back in court,
31:34Trail couldn't hide
31:34his scars.
31:35You will be restrained
31:37for the balance
31:38of this trial.
31:39The judge restrained
31:40Trail's hands.
31:42There was no escaping
31:42his sentence.
31:44Finally,
31:45it was time for Trail
31:46to learn his sentence.
31:47Imposed by the panel
31:48on count one,
31:50murder in the first degree,
31:52a class one felony,
31:53the defendant
31:54is sentenced to death.
31:55Trail was willing
31:56to sacrifice his life
31:58to avoid jail time,
31:59but this next defendant's
32:00escape attempt
32:01was so lazy,
32:02it's laughable.
32:04That evaluation
32:05gives a cup.
32:08This is Seth South,
32:10who's charged
32:10with two counts
32:11of murder
32:12in Pulspo, Washington.
32:13In October of 2024,
32:15South was alone
32:16with his two younger brothers
32:17when he brutally
32:18attacked them
32:19with a kitchen knife.
32:20South was arrested
32:21on the highway
32:21hours later
32:22while trying to skip town.
32:25Driver,
32:25show me your hands!
32:26Hands out the window!
32:27Step out,
32:31get on the ground.
32:31On the ground,
32:32on the ground,
32:32on the ground.
32:33Okay.
32:34Please drop this one.
32:36I love you guys.
32:41His one surviving sister,
32:43Cheyenne,
32:43said their parents
32:44never saw it coming.
32:45I think they're both
32:46equally as confused
32:47as everybody else is,
32:49and they're trying
32:49to figure out
32:50kind of what happened,
32:52where to go,
32:54what to do.
32:55Court,
32:56the judge asked him
32:57the same question.
32:58Why?
32:59I can give the answer.
33:01It's just what I'm going to do
33:02is I'm going to say.
33:03The next,
33:04nobody will disagree with me.
33:05Like,
33:06even the people
33:06I typically...
33:07I would suggest...
33:09South's blatant disrespect
33:11escalated
33:12when he did this.
33:15This thing gets accomplished.
33:20So,
33:21I would certainly
33:22reserve my argument.
33:23South attempted
33:24to walk away,
33:25but thankfully,
33:26deputies grabbed him
33:27before he could take
33:28even two steps.
33:33South's trial
33:34has yet to begin,
33:36but thanks to his
33:37escape attempt,
33:38the judge denied bond.
33:40South will be stuck
33:40behind bars
33:41until his day in court.
33:43South's actions
33:44barely qualify
33:45as an escape attempt,
33:47but what happens
33:47when a criminal
33:48attempts to jump
33:49out of a skyscraper?
33:50Like in the case
33:51of Travis Copeland,
33:52who's in court
33:53for a disorderly conduct
33:54charge while on bond.
33:56Copeland had just pleaded
33:57guilty to the charge.
33:59Scared of the consequences,
34:01he fled the courtroom
34:02onto a skyway
34:03connecting the courthouse
34:04and the jail.
34:05However,
34:06his escape
34:06didn't go as smoothly
34:07as he'd hoped.
34:08officers were waiting for him
34:16on the other side
34:17of the bridge.
34:18Trapped,
34:19Copeland was left
34:20with no other options.
34:21The window.
34:27Let's play that again.
34:29In a plan
34:30straight from an action movie,
34:31Copeland tried to bust
34:33through the window
34:33and fall to the busy
34:35street below.
34:36But the bulletproof glass
34:37stopped him in his tracks.
34:39Literally.
34:40Now, Copeland was
34:42really out of options.
34:53His escape attempt
34:54earned him a $50,000
34:55to $1,000,000 bond
34:57and probably a sore shoulder.
35:01The window.
35:03Let's play that again.
