00:21he is special but you don't always know when he's going to be out there and even in games he

00:28there is no telling how long he will remain on the court and I think we hit a bit of
00:33a tipping point
00:34for a lot of people with the game against Arizona not just for fans but let's call it what it

00:40a lot of bettors thought what a kick in the teeth as people lined up to take Kansas to knock
00:46off the
00:47at the time unbeaten Arizona Wildcats. Now ultimately they get to the window and KU wins that game but
00:55to find out Darren Peterson wasn't going to play 20 minutes before tip was a lot and usually I'd sit
01:04here then and scream at the school how do we not know that information earlier but it actually seems
01:09like they didn't know the information earlier. It's a lot JY. It's a bit messy. What are your main
01:18thoughts right now on everything between Darren Peterson and Kansas?
01:23Honestly you know it's crazy because I'm going to as a coach I'm going to say this I'm most concerned
01:28about the kids health and I think that's something that we talked about from the beginning of the
01:32season is what we're going to get out of Darren Peterson with the hamstring injuries and as a
01:36coach hamstring injuries are very tricky because you bring kids back too early and then there's going
01:42to be a possibility of you know them hurting themselves for a long period of time. So Darren Peterson and
01:48his family are kind of stuck between a rock and a hard place because it is their commitment to Kansas
01:52along with their commitment obviously to going into the NBA for the 2026 draft. But now Bill Self is in
01:59that same marker as well. So to me I want Bill in my opinion has got to do a better
02:06job of managing his
02:08minutes particularly in Big 12 play when you have a situation where he doesn't have a lot of days of
02:14rest in between games. Case in point regardless of how you know was sick he was for the game versus
02:21Arizona my red flag and we talked about this on game time decisions uh after it happened is well you
02:27played the kid 34 minutes against Utah less than 48 hours ago. So to me you got to start to
02:33manage this
02:34kids minutes and are we talking minutes restrictions and game management in college? I'm sorry folks we're here. This is

02:43NIL market deal with it. This is where we're at. So to me it's the management of minutes but also
02:49the
02:49fact Kevin if you look at this guy's going under 20 points his last four games he's not shot at
02:55well
02:56the last two games shooting a combined 10 for 26. If Kansas is going to win it's got to be
03:01one of two ways
03:01either he's got to go off or what I think it's going to be is defense has been starting to
03:07travel
03:08does Kansas slow the game down because you make it a half court game where you have the best scorer
03:13in the game and try and win it that way. You know J.Y. the one thing that
03:20is tough for me is I feel like every time we get something in college we don't like we go

03:26Boozer doesn't miss a game right? Boozer looks I mean it's just like Coop it's like he'll come back

03:48this one we talked about Darren shutting it down in November because just talent situation he clearly
03:54wants to play and it just feels like right now the adults in the room aren't being adults and

04:05play you mentioned kind of the recent scoring struggles his props 20 and a half it's very
04:12unlikely you're going to get to the window and feel like you are getting value on the over of any

04:18the big threes props in terms of Peterson Boozer or Dibonsa I think you could easily argue hey give
04:25me the under Darren Peterson 20 and a half hasn't hit it in four straight five of six playing a

04:31level defense there are not a lot of you know superstar shootout offensive performances for Darren
04:37Peterson against teams like this and some of it is because well maybe he'll check out right in the
04:42middle of the game so there's a lot there when we get into this game though coach beyond Peterson
04:49as someone who after watching Kansas beat Arizona said hey you can add ISU to my card on Saturday
04:56right now I didn't think this was going to be the number I'm not laying seven and a half I'm

05:02taking it I think Iowa State wins this game but the number has just gone up a little too much
