President Donald Trump said he was unaware of Commerce Secretary Howard Lutnick’s reported visit near Jeffrey Epstein’s island and denied ever being there himself. “No, I wasn’t aware of it… I wasn’t. I was never there,” Trump told reporters, adding he has not discussed the matter with Lutnick. He suggested Lutnick was reportedly accompanied by his wife and children during the encounter.

Lutnick, testifying before a Senate committee, denied having a relationship with Epstein, stating he met him only three times over 14 years, including once when Epstein moved next door and another time during a lunch on a boat near the island. Lawmakers continue pressing for clarity amid calls for accountability.

00:00Mr. President, were you aware that Secretary of Commerce visited Epstein's island and did you continue to...
00:05No, I wasn't aware of it, no. I didn't. I actually haven't spoken to him about it. I wasn't.
00:09But from what I hear, he was there with his wife and children.
00:12And I guess in some cases, some people were.
00:15I wasn't. I was never there.
00:18Somebody will someday say that. I was never there.
00:21Have you fired or disciplined that staffer who posted the video from your account that included the Obamers?
00:29No, I haven't. That was a video on, as you know, voter fraud.
00:33And a fairly long video. And they had a little piece and it had to do with the Lion King.
00:36It's been very well... It's been shown all over the place long before that was posted.
00:42But that was a very strong, and I'm sure you saw it, a very strong piece on voter fraud.
00:52And the piece that you're talking about was all over the place many times, I believe for years.
00:57Yeah, please.
00:58Mr. President, were you aware that Secretary of Commerce visited Epstein's island?
01:02And do you continue to...
01:03No, I wasn't aware of it, no. I didn't.
01:05I actually haven't spoken to him about it. I wasn't.
01:08But from what I hear, he was there with his wife and children.
01:11And I guess in some cases, some people were.
01:14I wasn't. I was never there.
01:16Somebody will someday say that.
01:18I was never there.
01:20Yeah, please.
01:21This announcement that you made today, Mr. President, comes on the heels of a January jobs report that smashed industry
01:27expectations.
01:27Yeah, smashed all records.
01:29And the big feature of that was you reprivatizing the economy, an economy that was bloated with federal employment under
01:34the previous president.
01:36What's your message to Americans following this jobs report that smashed industry expectations?
01:41Is this just a sign that the best is yet?
01:44The jobs report's amazing in certain ways because we have tremendously fewer federal employees way down.
01:53And now I could have left them and added to what we did, and we would have had almost 100
01:57% employment.
01:58I could have gotten a great kick out of the fact that we're 100% employed.
02:02But we got rid of tremendous numbers of federal workers.
02:07And they hated me for it.
02:09Now they love me because most of them have gotten jobs in the private sector for two and three times
02:13more money than they were being paid by the federal government.
02:15We had some jobs where you had 10 workers for one job.
02:1910 workers for a job that one person should be doing.
02:22And we've gotten rid of a lot of the, those jobs.
02:27And by getting rid of them, these people became available to work in the private sector.
02:32And as you know, the numbers are incredible.
02:34So the job numbers are incredible.
02:35The financial numbers are beyond belief.
02:39Again, they thought it couldn't be done in four years, and I did it in one year.
02:44And the numbers you're going to see is these, I don't know if you notice also construction numbers, the jobs
02:49for construction workers.
02:50You know why?
02:51Because they're building plants all over the United States.
02:54And when these plants open in a year from now, some sooner, some a little bit later.
02:58But when these auto plants, AI plants, and thousands of other types of plants, when they open over the next
03:04period of a year, year and a half,
03:06you're going to see numbers like we've never seen before in this country.
