00:00Well, so much for the Yankees being in good health for the start of camp.
00:03On day two, Camp Schlitler was revealed to be dealing with some mid-back inflammation
00:08that both he and manager Iron Boone downplayed,
00:11but obviously something to watch here as camp unfolds.
00:15Right now, the plan is for Schlitler to continue to throw on flat ground.
00:19They're just going to keep him off the mound for a couple days at least.
00:24Schlitler said today he is hoping to get back on the mound in bullpen sessions by next week
00:28and continue his build-up, but it's obviously something that they're going to monitor.
00:32He said he's been dealing with it for a few weeks.
00:34He called it insignificant and said his level of concern was zero,
00:39but he also mentioned feeling some in his lap,
00:42which is a little bit more concerning than the mid-back.
00:44So we'll see how this unfolds in the coming days and weeks.
00:48Obviously, the Yankees are already expecting to start the season with Carlos Rodon,
00:53Garrett Cole, and Clark Schmidt on the injured list,
00:55so they can't afford to lose a guy like Schlitler for much time at all,
01:00especially to start the year when they're already kind of holding down the fort
01:03until they get some of those guys back.
01:05So we'll see.
01:06He says, you know, Schlitler said it's really nothing.
01:10They're just trying to get out ahead of it
01:11and make sure it doesn't turn into something bigger.
01:14He said, you know, he's dealt with some things last year on and off,
01:17but kind of pitched through it, but at this point in camp,
01:20they're trying to play it safe.
01:21He said he's already thrown it through a lot.
01:22He's already thrown a couple of live batting practices,
01:26so he doesn't think that, you know,
01:27a couple days off the mound will slow me down all that much.
01:31We'll see how that unfolds in the coming days.
