00:01For Everton, this season is a study in structural transformation, clashing with on-field and predictability.
00:07As the club settled into its spectacular new home at Bramley Moor Dock, the Hill Dickinson Stadium,
00:12the atmosphere is one of a sleeping giant slowly finding its feet in the new era.
00:18Under the return of David Moyes, the Toffees have shed the existential dread of relegation scraps,
00:24yet they remain a sign defined by frustrating contradictions.
00:28The league stuff has been okay, we've been doing okay in that.
00:32We're disappointed that we've gone out of the Cups early.
00:35But no, we want to now finish in a strong position, we're going to try and work hard to get
00:40that.
00:40But obviously we need to get all our better players back.
00:45January was always going to be difficult just because of, first and foremost, the two boys going to AFCON.
00:52And we're thrilled that they've reached the final with Senegal.
00:56But that was too down before we even start, before you talk about suspensions and injuries.
01:01And we've had a sort of batch of them in this month, which hasn't helped.
01:04So it's been a difficult period for us just to get things the way we want it.
01:08We need players more than ever, and we probably need them as soon as possible if we could make that
01:13happen.
01:13But more than likely, this month is never done particularly quickly.
01:18So we're still looking.
01:21I'm not sure we will get anything, but we're trying.
01:25The move from the tight, visceral confines of Goodison Park to the expansive waterfront arena has brought typical new stadium
01:33teething issues.
01:34The team has discovered a remarkable resilience on the road, becoming one of the league's most efficient away units.
01:42Replicating that dominance at home has proven elusive.
01:46You know, we want to be higher, you know, maybe two points more makes you feel a bit better because
01:51you're further up.
01:52You might be sitting in eighth or ninth if you do that, possibly.
01:56So we've got to try and get back on it again, get back.
01:58But it's difficult.
02:00You know, we've not got the strongest squad.
02:02We've had quite a few injuries.
02:03We've had the boys away.
02:04So that's made it difficult for us.
02:06By the way, I'm sure there's a price for every player on the planet if you look around.
02:11But, you know, if you're asking me, we've got no intention of selling Ellie.
02:14We need them back.
02:15We need them back to give us some creativity and help us score and make goals.
02:19So we're missing them for all those good reasons.
02:23Bolstered by high profile arrivals like Jack Grealish and the clinical edge of Tino Barry,
02:28the squad clearly possesses a higher technical ceiling than in years past.
02:32Yet the transitional tag remains appropriate for every disciplined defensive masterclass.
02:37There is a lapse that reminds fans the rebuilding process is far from finished.
02:44Success this season isn't being measured by silverware,
02:47but by the stabilisation of a club that spent too long on the brink as the running approaches.
02:52The goal is clear.
02:53Find the consistency to match the ambition of their new surroundings.
02:57Thanks.
