Kotdwar (Uttarakhand): A video of Bhupendra alias Pinky Chaudhary, president of the Hindu Raksha Dal in Ghaziabad, has gone viral in which he calls for a march to Kotdwar on February 12 at 3 pm, targeting a local gym owner over an ongoing controversy.

In the video, Pinky Chaudhary, seen wearing saffron robes, refers to Uttarakhand as “Devbhoomi” and says it is inappropriate for such “demons” to live there. He announces that his team, along with workers from other districts including “Lalit Bhai and others,” will reach Kotdwar in full force. He ends the video with slogans of “Jai Shri Ram” and urges supporters to gather in large numbers.

Chaudhary alleges that a man named Deepak Rawat has changed his name to “Mohammad Deepak” and is harassing “Hindu brothers” by supporting “mullahs.” He states that members of the Hindu Raksha Dal will assemble outside Deepak’s gym and “expose his mullah-like nature” and teach him a “lesson.”

The controversy traces back to a recent dispute in Kotdwar involving the shop of an elderly Muslim man known locally as “Baba.” Some Hindu organisations objected to the use of the name “Baba,” associating it with a Hindu religious identity, and demanded a change. Deepak reportedly came out in support of the elderly man and publicly referred to himself as “Mohammad Deepak,” after which he came under the scrutiny of certain groups.

Reacting to the viral video, CO Kotdwar Niharika Semwal issued a clear warning. “You are welcome to come, but if you spoil the atmosphere of Kotdwar, we will take action,” she said, indicating that police are monitoring the situation closely.

Security arrangements are expected to be tightened in view of the announced march. Authorities have urged residents to maintain peace and harmony.
