00:30I went to London Business School, where I had my master's in management.
00:34I was in Bharak. I was in their founding team.
00:37I did my MBA in Ahmedabad.
00:39He was a brand manager in ITC.
00:42Basically, we had a four team members.
00:46We had an offer to work in the Pandan Mantri office.
00:50You guys are three underachievers.
01:00Local all-natural soda.
01:02A scalable farm-to-bottle craft beverage.
01:05A movement to bring the flavor of Mizoram and the Northeast across India and the world.
01:11And today, we are really cut back on that.
01:14Mainly because we ran out, you know, we're just focusing on our revenue.
01:18Were you going to say we ran out of money?
01:48Why do I eat some vegetables?
01:51Why do they smell the vegetables?
01:53Why do they say mixi?
01:55I'm sure your kids will ask such questions.
01:58The curiosity level is high.
02:01And the battery level is low.
02:03Sometimes we don't have the answer.
02:05And sometimes we're just not in the mood.
02:08So, we restrict the curiosity of it.
02:10Then we thought about the engineering department of Bangalore.
02:14That they need a 24-27 friend.
02:17Hi Sharks!
02:18I am Wankar.
02:19I am Mauli.
02:20And this is Wonder.
02:22A screen-free AI power of a child.
02:26They teach kids to think and explore.
02:31And they give them peace.
02:33This is not only entertaining.
02:35This is safe and independent for kids.
02:38With this, we can track the development of the parent app.
02:43And most importantly,
02:45this is adaptive and personal for kids.
02:48They grow with wonder and grow with their knowledge.
02:53In this case, we cover 20 topics of mindfulness, moral education and mythology.
03:00Our ask is 80 lakhs for 1% equity.
03:03Oh!
03:05So, Wonder.
03:06Will we get a deal in a tank today?
03:09If you have pitched with your heart,
03:11you will get a deal.
03:13Wow!
03:14Nice!
03:15Very nice!
03:16So, Wankar and Mauli.
03:17Curiosity is wonderful.
03:19And everyone is very curious about your story.
03:22I am Chandra Mauli.
03:24I am an engineer.
03:25I have worked all over South India.
03:27Okay, and you?
03:28I grew up in Chennai.
03:29I went to the College of Engineering in Gindi.
03:31After that, I worked in IM Bangalore.
03:33After 10 years, I worked in large enterprises.
03:36Business development and later on product development.
03:39This is our second start-up.
03:42The previous one was called Seller Works.
03:44And sold to Capillary Technologies in 2017.
03:48And after that, my wonder started?
03:50Or after something else?
03:52After acquisition, we started doing different things.
03:55But we were always in touch.
03:58I worked at multiple companies.
04:00One of the important ones I worked at is called 2R Learning.
04:03Where we built an AI-based adaptive learning platform
04:06for school children in the US.
04:08So, what we found out was, every child is unique.
04:11And if you give them personalised coaching,
04:14they do two standard deviations above any other child.
04:17With AI, what's happening today is,
04:19that can be done for every child in the world.
04:22And that's our inspiration to create wonder.
04:24So, this is an Alexa type of thing.
04:27Alexa is an assistant,
04:30but wonder is a companion.
04:33So, the design, goals and success metrics are different.
04:37So, when you start the device,
04:39it starts in companion mode.
04:41Yes, you can try it.
04:42So, it will start talking to you.
04:44It connects to Wi-Fi when it boots up.
04:46Hi, Anupam.
04:48I am a wonder,
04:49and I am going to play with you.
04:52But you have to tap the wonder card for this.
04:55So, the way we have designed it is,
04:59the companion is there.
05:00It will answer simple questions.
05:02But if you want a story or a content,
05:04for which we have a specific card,
05:05you will have to tap that card.
05:07I will give you a demo so that you can...
05:08Yeah, let's understand.
05:09Yeah, let's understand it.
05:10So, this is a portable product.
05:12Kids can take it anywhere.
05:14And there are different types of cards.
05:16These are NFC cards.
05:18There are two main types of cards.
05:19One is the companion cards,
05:22which has stock written on the card.
05:24So, these are cards,
05:25when you tap it,
05:26you can have two-way conversations with a companion.
05:29The design is modeled on real-life experts.
05:32So, when kids are in early years,
05:34they notice that they are an English teacher,
05:36they are a science teacher, etc.
05:38So, our design is to introduce these experts
05:42through AI.
05:43And then we have these other cards,
05:46where we have got the best content
05:49from the best publishers in the world.
05:51For example,
05:52you can see the image of a cat.
05:54When you tap it...
05:57Hi, I'm a cat.
06:01So, it plays content about the cat.
06:04No, one minute.
06:05What is the difference between talk and non-talk cards?
06:08Talk is a two-way interaction.
06:10And the non-talk regular card is just narration.
06:13Narration.
06:14Narration.
06:15We have 200 plus cards.
06:17We have simplified three segments.
06:20Three to five,
06:21five to seven,
06:22and then eight to ten.
06:23Like for example,
06:24we have designed from the day in the life of a child,
06:27until morning to night.
06:28This is a brushing timer.
06:33Hey, it's time to brush your teeth.
06:35It is important for us to look after our teeth.
06:38Brushing them twice a day makes our teeth healthy,
06:41shiny, and strong.
06:42So, it's a two-minute timer.
06:43Very cute.
06:44Very popular for kids.
06:45So, it makes their routine fun.
06:48What is the thought process?
06:50The thought process is that
06:51the parents will use it more,
06:52the child will engage it more,
06:53the child will use it more.
06:55This is designed for independent play.
06:57and these cards give a visual cue to the child
07:00on what they want to play.
07:03So, today,
07:04there is a lot of content online,
07:06on Spotify,
07:07on Amazon, etc.
07:08but the child doesn't have any way to access them.
07:11So, this becomes like the way for them to access
07:14whatever content they want.
07:16And we also have a parent app
07:18where the parent gets insights about
07:20what the child is talking
07:21and what they are listening.
07:23For example,
07:24the child spent 10 hours of Wii.
07:26And in 10 hours,
07:27they spent science,
07:28space, plants, animals.
07:30You can also see that
07:31Anupam built a new planet
07:32and learned about gravity.
07:35Like Gemini,
07:36and even for that matter,
07:38GPT.
07:39In this setting,
07:40I can create
07:41a personalized instruction.
07:43Say,
07:44act like a teacher
07:45and answer for a kid
07:47who is from 3 to 10 years old,
07:48I don't tap my card
07:50and as it is going to be upgraded,
07:52I have the entire universe.
07:55Here,
07:56as parents,
07:57we feel like
07:58giving a child
07:59a very powerful tool
08:00to Gemini
08:01is sometimes risky.
08:02So,
08:03in our design,
08:04we have created
08:05guardrails
08:06for each character.
08:07So,
08:08the AI expert
08:09is not able to talk
08:10about certain topics
08:11outside.
08:12The second one
08:13is that
08:14it is designed
08:15that it is endearing
08:16for the child.
08:17It's fun for them.
08:18They keep tapping it
08:19again and again
08:20because that kind of
08:21an experience
08:22is not on Gemini.
08:24It's connected to Wi-Fi
08:25wherever I understand.
08:26You have studied
08:27over the safety norms.
08:29What is the impact
08:30of radiation?
08:31health-wise?
08:33So,
08:34the product
08:35is certified for
08:36DIS.
08:37We have tested
08:38it for radiation levels.
08:39The material testing
08:40has happened.
08:41So, even if the kid
08:42is putting it in their mouth,
08:43it's totally safe.
08:44That's excellent to know
08:45that you have created
08:46that thing.
08:47The second thing,
08:48in your box,
08:49I noticed,
08:50these are cards.
08:51Make your own.
08:52Right?
08:53This is very fascinating.
08:54Let me tell you
08:55how to make your own cards
08:56and what purpose
08:57is it?
08:58Make your own is like
08:59a custom card.
09:00Some families
09:01have their own stories.
09:02Their grandma
09:03would have narrated a story.
09:04They want their children
09:05to listen to it.
09:06It would be so amazing
09:08that if my mom
09:09can record a lot of things
09:11that my kids
09:12can keep listening to
09:13for years to come.
09:14Absolutely.
09:15She can do that?
09:16Yes.
09:17Wow.
09:18So, they can maybe record it,
09:19send it over WhatsApp,
09:20you can download it
09:21and upload it to this card
09:22and it's now available
09:23for the child.
09:24Amazing.
09:25This is probably
09:26a big USP for you.
09:27When did it launch?
09:28We started the company
09:29last year
09:30and we launched
09:32the product
09:33four weeks back.
09:34Four weeks back?
09:35Oh, wow.
09:36In the last year,
09:37we have done
09:38five iterations
09:39of the product.
09:40Here,
09:41there are our prototypes.
09:42Early prototypes.
09:43Before, it was a puppy.
09:44Yeah.
09:45Is this your prototype
09:46or is this the final device?
09:48This is the final device.
09:49It's launched already.
09:50We've got pre-orders.
09:51Three-orders.
09:52We'll be shipping these devices
09:53in January.
09:54We've seen many pictures
09:56in the Shark Tank.
09:58Everyone says,
09:59let's get out of the phone.
10:01Let's get out of the phone.
10:02Some toys are brought
10:04some board games
10:05that are interactive.
10:07Why do you think
10:08that people are more interested?
10:11Toy fatigue is one thing.
10:13It's a natural phenomenon
10:14for kids.
10:15We've solved that
10:16for them
10:17there is variety of content.
10:18Now,
10:19when the child is young
10:20the content is different.
10:22As a child grows older
10:23now,
10:24parents can use the same device
10:25but get new type of cards.
10:27And eventually,
10:28we'll also have
10:29things like figurines
10:30or books with NFC
10:32that you can just tap it
10:33and it plays.
10:34It's a strategy
10:36that you have a razor
10:37and blade
10:38strategy.
10:39That you have a razor
10:40and then for life
10:41you keep selling other things.
10:42Exactly.
10:43So, how many cards
10:44come in the bag?
10:46There are 10 cards
10:47as a part of the law.
10:48And you have 200.
10:49Yes.
10:50And they will keep increasing.
10:51Yes.
10:52And what is the concept of figurines?
10:53If you have figurines
10:55then there will be some
10:56related character
10:58stories
10:59or interesting conversation.
11:01Correct.
11:02So, is the idea
11:03also to create
11:04IP like Astro?
11:06Eventually, we'll also
11:07get some popular IPs
11:08which kids already know.
11:10So, you will also
11:11partner with third parties?
11:12Absolutely.
11:13How did you do this?
11:15How did you do this?
11:17Manufacturing?
11:18So, my experience
11:20was that I was
11:21in the Amazon Kindle team.
11:22So, I have some idea
11:24of how to build
11:25hardware products.
11:26We work with
11:28a lot of experts
11:29in this space.
11:30We don't manufacture it
11:31as well.
11:32It's all contract manufacturing.
11:33What is the pricing?
11:35We have 4999 price for launch.
11:38Got it.
11:39With a device
11:40plus 10 cards
11:41is the starter pack.
11:42How do you plan to sell
11:43after that?
11:44499.
11:45How did the pre-order come?
11:47So, we…
11:48It was very interesting
11:49Amand.
11:50Because we launched
11:51the inventory
11:52in January.
11:53But, luckily
11:55and thanks to your story
11:56they covered
11:57on us.
11:58Just as it was public
12:00we saw we got 15 orders.
12:03So, without anything
12:04without our network
12:05without our lead list
12:06without our lead list
12:07there were 50
12:08full price orders
12:09paying 5,000 rupees.
12:11It's a little bit
12:13to understand
12:14what is different
12:16in my mind.
12:17Like Miko
12:18is a product
12:19from India.
12:20They struggled
12:21in India.
12:22I bought it
12:23too.
12:24It didn't really work
12:25after a while.
12:26and the children
12:27they don't follow rules.
12:29They don't follow rules.
12:31So, you give them
12:32and say
12:33they don't tap
12:34these cards.
12:35It doesn't happen.
12:36There are two products
12:37that we have seen
12:38that are long term
12:39used.
12:40There is a German company
12:41for Tony's.
12:42That's right.
12:43That's a very nice
12:44product.
12:45We've used it for kids.
12:46It's not available in India.
12:47Yeah, what over a billion dollars.
12:48It's a great product.
12:49And people buy
12:50almost 140 figurines
12:51for one box of Tony's.
12:53Same thing,
12:54there's another product
12:55called Yotou.
12:56These two are products
12:57which have been super successful
12:58where this kind of a model works.
13:00if you're inspired by the German company,
13:02what do you need to study cards?
13:04Suddenly,
13:05it's feeling academic.
13:07You figurines
13:08these characters
13:10are far more endearing.
13:11So, why didn't you just go there?
13:13So, when we tried it,
13:14what we found was
13:15younger kids
13:16from three to five
13:17loved it.
13:18And older kids
13:19didn't bother.
13:20For them,
13:21a card versus figurine
13:22didn't really matter
13:23as long as they were
13:24excited about the content.
13:25And creating figurines
13:26requires a lot
13:27of capital expansion.
13:28So, we can see
13:30any marketing game
13:31that you have started
13:32on Instagram.
13:33So, we already have a list
13:36of 350 parents
13:37who want to order.
13:38We will activate
13:39Insta
13:40and go
13:41like with influencers
13:42etc.
13:43During the...
13:44Influencer,
13:45that's not me.
13:46You have to create
13:47curiosity,
13:48create anticipation,
13:49create excitement
13:50about the product.
13:51Right?
13:52Otherwise,
13:53they will launch
13:54German companies
13:55What have you done
13:56to make it go viral?
13:57We are absolutely
13:59particular
14:00that we don't
14:01prematurely scale.
14:02It's very important
14:03to cover every
14:04aspect of product
14:05and market
14:06channel fit.
14:07It's very important
14:08that the product
14:09works well,
14:10the child engagement
14:11is good.
14:12It's not good for parents.
14:13So, our plan is
14:14that there's a big season
14:15in April
14:16when summer vacation
14:17starts.
14:18So, as we learn
14:19in the next 90 days,
14:20we have thought
14:21that we need
14:22online influencers
14:23and leaders
14:24etc.
14:25and that playbook
14:26we will invoke
14:27sometime end of film.
14:28It's good for gifting
14:30and I think
14:31the learning
14:32will also be good.
14:33But what is
14:34I have a problem?
14:35I have a little
14:36thinking
14:37that the kids
14:38will be a little
14:39easier to live.
14:40You will also study
14:41at school,
14:42you will also study
14:43and you will also
14:44enjoy it.
14:45So, unfortunately,
14:47for those
14:48philosophical reasons
14:49I am out.
14:50many times
14:52in a joint
14:53family
14:54you know
14:55that the kids
14:56and their grandparents
14:57and other people
14:58get away from them.
14:59If I feel
15:00that I will create
15:01their avatar
15:02and create
15:03a card
15:04then
15:05it's a unique
15:06proposition.
15:07But now
15:08the form
15:09and shape
15:10is largely
15:11a speaker.
15:12And as
15:13as the category
15:14wall
15:15the price is
15:16very low.
15:1712-15 rupiah
15:18will be a lot
15:19of history.
15:20So, that is the reason
15:21I am out today.
15:22Good luck.
15:23I am asking
15:24one or two questions
15:25about
15:26your DNA
15:27is not showing
15:28the marketing
15:29instinct
15:30in your DNA.
15:31And I believe
15:32that
15:33everything
15:34is created.
15:35It should create
15:36a phenomenon.
15:37In today's history
15:38something like
15:39a labubu
15:40is not selling
15:41because of the way
15:42it looks.
15:43It's damn ugly.
15:44But now
15:45it's become cute
15:46and I'm questioning
15:47your judgement
15:48also.
15:49You have just
15:50launched 50
15:51orders.
15:52You have taken
15:5380 crore
15:54valuation.
15:55In truth,
15:56you have to deal
15:57that you have to
15:58take reasonable
15:59something.
16:00This is something
16:01that I could have
16:02taken a bet on
16:03at maybe 10-12 crores.
16:04But not at this
16:05level.
16:06So, I'm out.
16:07Good luck.
16:10If you have to
16:11viral a toy,
16:12it has to be
16:13affordable by masses.
16:14How many people
16:15are spending
16:16propensity?
16:175,000 rupes.
16:18So, I'm a little
16:19skeptical of
16:20how much will
16:21go to this price
16:22point.
16:23Who will buy
16:24500 rupes?
16:25So, I think
16:26you have to focus
16:27on two things.
16:28One is pricing.
16:29Second is,
16:30like Anupam
16:31said,
16:32you have to be
16:33so viral
16:34that every child
16:35says,
16:36I'm a wonder.
16:37You know,
16:38and that is
16:39I'm out.
16:40Okay,
16:41one place
16:43where I am
16:44with you
16:45is
16:46that
16:47you need to
16:49reduce screen time
16:50for children.
16:51So,
16:52these toys
16:53will help.
16:54The issues
16:55I think
16:56are two.
16:57One,
16:58or a fundamental
16:59product risk.
17:00Is it going
17:01or not?
17:02It's possible
17:03to launch
17:04and buy 1,000-2,000
17:05people.
17:06But after that,
17:07even become
17:08a phenomenon.
17:09And after that,
17:10if it works,
17:11like
17:12LaBooBoo
17:13works,
17:14you know,
17:15LaFooFoo
17:16also comes.
17:17You know what is
17:18LaFooFoo?
17:19Fake LaBooBoo.
17:20If it works,
17:21then copycat
17:22comes.
17:23After that,
17:24there will be
17:25a different
17:26product risk.
17:27This season,
17:28I wish you
17:29the very best.
17:30It looks promising.
17:31Alright guys,
17:32good luck.
17:33Virality is not
17:34the only reason
17:35why this will sell.
17:36Because it has a lot
17:37of value for kids
17:38and for parents.
17:39That's our brand.
17:40And I think we'll
17:41stick to that.
17:42Play a home shark
17:43and win the game.
17:44Analyze sharks
17:45like sharks,
17:46keep your stakes
17:47and pre-rate.
17:48Download Sony Live
17:49app right now.
17:50Friends,
17:51the memory of this
17:52tank is full.
17:53I think
17:54that you don't have to
17:55delete some memories
17:56from childhood.
17:57Before I open Canva.
17:58Canva's clean layouts
17:59and easy-to-use
18:00features
18:01made a no-nonsense
18:02full-details
18:03recap.
18:04That was the
18:20daily Canva report
18:21on your own designs.
18:22and we'll see
18:23that.
18:44Boss,
18:45we have to process the budget
18:46$50,000.
18:47$50,000?
18:48$50,000?
18:49And that's how?
18:50I'll give you a month
18:51end.
18:52Every employee's bill
18:54every day
18:55will be done.
18:56But sir,
18:57I didn't have to
18:58clear my bill
18:59last month.
19:00Some of them
19:01fell off,
19:02some of them fell off.
19:03And this is an expense card
19:04or at the same time.
19:05You have to pay
19:06yourself from UPI.
19:07What is the solution
19:08your loss?
19:09What is the solution?
19:10What is the solution?
19:11Hello, Sharks.
19:12As business owners,
19:13you will also have
19:14crossed this problem.
19:15There are no problems
19:16to give the business
19:17to give money.
19:18But when,
19:19where,
19:20where and how
19:21is happening?
19:22It's from its visibility.
19:23We are the three
19:24girls of Delhi.
19:25Aviral,
19:26Vidit,
19:27Uzair,
19:28and Kotopay.
19:29Kotopay is a
19:30UPI voucher platform
19:31where your business
19:32spends are smarter
19:33and traceable
19:34and traceable.
19:35This is your existing
19:36UPI apps
19:37and QR codes.
19:38So,
19:39your business
19:40will also be
19:41in your personal
19:42expenses
19:43in UPI.
19:44Just a voucher
19:45issued,
19:46scan a QR QR
19:47and pay
19:48instant records.
19:49Businesses
19:51and brands
19:52are already
19:53using your business
19:54expenses
19:55and loyalty expenses.
19:56And today,
19:58our ask is
19:5950 lakh rupees
20:00for 1% equity.
20:01So, Sharks,
20:02managing your expenses
20:05is not okay.
20:07Join hands
20:08with Kotopay.
20:11Let me tell you
20:12how you are
20:13and what is your role
20:14in the company.
20:15I am the co-founder
20:16and CEO
20:17of Kotopay.
20:18I was studying
20:19from Dehradun
20:20school
20:21where I got
20:22Vidit.
20:23I went to London
20:24business school
20:25where I did my
20:26master's in management.
20:27When I came back
20:28to India,
20:29I got a very good
20:30opportunity to work
20:31with a start-up.
20:32His name is
20:33Bharat.
20:34I was a part of
20:35their founding team.
20:36I got an opportunity
20:37for fundraising
20:38and UPI
20:39to closely
20:40understand.
20:41I come from a doctor's family
20:42and I am alone
20:43who is not a doctor.
20:44So,
20:45I felt like
20:46when COVID-19
20:47pandemic came,
20:48I should also
20:49help me
20:50in the country.
20:51So,
20:52I got an opportunity
20:53to work
20:54in the National Health
20:55Authority.
20:56I got an opportunity
20:57to work on my
20:58and Uzair.
20:59We were working on
21:00Covin
21:01which was a vaccination
21:02platform.
21:03Covin
21:04and the National Health
21:05Authority
21:06we launched
21:07E-Rupee vouchers
21:08which are programmable
21:10and can lock
21:11for anything.
21:12When I came out
21:13from the National Health
21:14Authority
21:15I got an opportunity
21:16to visit
21:17and Uzair.
21:18applications
21:19in the private sector
21:20and the market
21:22today's prepaid
21:23instruments
21:24like UPI
21:25has increased
21:26direct payments
21:27so we can
21:28increase the market
21:29from it.
21:30Amazing.
21:31I am a co-founder
21:32and CBO.
21:33I look at the whole business.
21:34I did my undergrad
21:35at Sriram College
21:36of Commerce
21:37SRCC
21:38Delhi University.
21:39After that,
21:40I did my MBA
21:41in Ahmedabad.
21:42For that,
21:43I am working
21:44in the consumer field
21:45at ITC
21:46I was a brand manager
21:47of Sanfis Biscuits
21:48which is a 7,000 crore
21:49portfolio.
21:50When Aviral
21:51told the payment
21:52instrument
21:53about a lot of companies
21:54and stakeholders
21:55he understood
21:56the problem
21:57in the payment space
21:58and he just left
21:59the job
22:00and left.
22:01I am a co-founder
22:02and CTO
22:03in PhotoPay.
22:04I am a 20-year
22:05software development,
22:06design and architect.
22:08Basically,
22:09we have worked
22:10as a whole team
22:11as a team
22:12as a team.
22:13Then COVID
22:14came.
22:15We have an offer
22:17to work in Covin
22:18in the application
22:19and the platform
22:20designed
22:21and I am happy
22:22and I am happy
22:23with that.
22:24Fantastic.
22:25Aadhaar, Covin
22:26what solid apps
22:27for India
22:28are the most important
22:29and the biggest apps.
22:30What are you doing?
22:31You don't think
22:32three underachievers
22:33are bad.
22:36Amazing guys.
22:37What does Koto mean?
22:38Our company's name
22:39is Koto Del.
22:40I thought
22:41Koto Del
22:42was a commitment
22:43to delivery.
22:44It's a commitment
22:45to pay.
22:46It's a commitment
22:47to payment.
22:48Let's see what Koto
22:49is.
22:50It will be done.
22:51Sure.
22:52You can issue our
22:53UPI vouchers
22:54from our online dashboard
22:55www.kotopay.in
22:57or our smartphone
22:59applications
23:00that are on iOS
23:01and Android.
23:02What is the voucher?
23:03If I am your employee,
23:04you gave me
23:05a UPI
23:06or cash payment
23:07of 5000
23:08as well
23:09as you pay
23:10money
23:11cut
23:12and
23:13added
23:14to your account.
23:15The other thing
23:16is you can't lock
23:17that I will do
23:18for a specific use
23:19or you can add time
23:20validity to it.
23:21The other thing
23:22is when I pay
23:23money,
23:24I don't know
23:25when I paid money.
23:26Now,
23:27the UPI voucher
23:28is solved.
23:29The other thing
23:30means when you
23:31give me a voucher,
23:32it remains in the
23:33company account.
23:34Second,
23:35you can lock it.
23:36You have to lock it
23:37on category,
23:38fuel,
23:39meal,
23:40general spends.
23:42You can add time
23:43validity.
23:44I have to go to Mumbai
23:45three days.
23:46Three days
23:47will be issued.
23:48End of third day,
23:49the voucher expires.
23:50Unutilized balance
23:51will come back.
23:52And the third thing,
23:53whenever I will pay my
23:54UPI app
23:56you will get
23:57visibility on your dashboard.
23:58you will get
23:59that Vidit
24:00has the date
24:01time,
24:02amount,
24:03and the transaction
24:04ID,
24:05plus the bill
24:06paid.
24:07This is the functionality
24:08of KotoPay.
24:09This is the functionality
24:10of NPCI.
24:11This product's
24:12name is E-RUPI vouchers.
24:13E-RUPI.
24:14And this is NPCI
24:15runs.
24:16This is only
24:17issue from banks.
24:19So our platform
24:20is connected to banks
24:21which enables businesses
24:23to make their
24:24business logic
24:25to issue
24:26and track
24:27back.
24:28Now,
24:29I will show you
24:30how our voucher
24:31is going to happen.
24:32You open our
24:33app,
24:34click on the issue,
24:35put the name
24:36of employee,
24:37put the UPI link
24:38to the mobile number,
24:39put the voucher
24:40category,
24:41and the amount
24:42which is the redemption
24:43type,
24:44you will define
24:45that it is
24:46single redemption
24:47or multi redemption.
24:48In real time,
24:49this voucher will
24:50reach employees
24:51or contractors
24:52which will be
24:53used by the
24:54UPI app.
24:55Now,
24:56the voucher will
24:57come to the
24:58UPI app.
24:59Let's see,
25:00as an employee,
25:01I am going to
25:02a fuel pump,
25:03how do I pay?
25:04If anyone comes to the
25:05fuel pump,
25:06open the UPI app,
25:07scan the QR code
25:09and put the amount
25:11and the UPI voucher
25:12will come to the
25:13payment.
25:14Gift card.
25:15Put the pin
25:16and pay.
25:18Interesting.
25:19Got it.
25:20Just like you have
25:21multiple accounts
25:22in the bank account,
25:23when you select
25:24you can select
25:25any one bank account.
25:26That will become
25:28one of the options
25:29and you can set
25:30the default
25:31for those three days.
25:32For example,
25:33I am saying
25:34that today
25:35there is a credit card
25:36on the UPI
25:37which is also an option.
25:38This is a new PPI
25:39instrument.
25:40The UPI vouchers
25:41that if you have
25:42issued,
25:43it will come to
25:44the relevant merchant
25:45as default.
25:46as well.
25:47It is a container.
25:48It is a container
25:49but it is linked
25:50to the company.
25:51It can be used
25:52with any UPI
25:53app.
25:54So,
25:55the UPI
25:56interoperability
25:57will take advantage.
25:58When did the product
25:59start?
26:00The product
26:01has come to our
26:02market.
26:03In this month?
26:04In this month.
26:05Because it is a FinTech
26:06product,
26:07to integrate the entire
26:08banks,
26:09to prepare the entire ecosystem
26:10and to prepare the product
26:11for the market.
26:12So,
26:13we are the first company
26:14that has come to this
26:15in December.
26:16We have launched
26:17our closed user group
26:18testing.
26:19We have done
26:20testing with five
26:21clients.
26:23Do you have this
26:24on SaaS?
26:25It is a difference
26:26that we don't want to
26:27keep it per user
26:28per month.
26:29We want to put
26:30a number on processing
26:31total volume.
26:32We want to put
26:33a number of
26:3410,000,000
26:35per month.
26:36So, we charge
26:37a percentage.
26:38of 0.5%
26:39to 0.7%
26:40and can be made
26:41a customised plan
26:42for big
26:43enterprise and
26:44channel partners.
26:45Why not
26:46revenue per user?
26:47When you put
26:48revenue,
26:49you will say,
26:50if you have 10,000,
26:51I will charge
26:52200 rupees for you.
26:53It is a cost for you.
26:55So, we don't want to
26:56restrict you
26:57as a business.
26:58We have thousands
26:59of people in the entire
27:00company.
27:01Who is your
27:02core customer?
27:03There are two cohorts
27:04that we are clearly
27:05targeting.
27:06One is a business
27:07and one is a fleet side.
27:09Give us an action.
27:10They are an event
27:11management company.
27:12They are
27:13paying their employees
27:14and contractors
27:15to transfer
27:165-5,000,000 to 5-5,000,000.
27:17Yes.
27:18You are saying
27:19fleet owners.
27:20They are fleet owners
27:21in which you have
27:22cabs, trucks,
27:23and you have
27:24200-300 cars.
27:25This is also
27:26an unorganised sector.
27:27What is it now?
27:29Because a
27:30mistress is
27:31our focus
27:32that the driver
27:33can pay himself
27:34without being
27:35dependent.
27:36The owner is
27:37happy that
27:38I don't have money
27:39on the driver's
27:40account.
27:41So, it doesn't
27:42use any other
27:43use.
27:45Merchant category
27:46code is
27:47picked up
27:48as you scan
27:49QR code.
27:50Our vouchers
27:51are locked
27:52in Merchant category
27:53codes.
27:54We can ensure
27:55that if this
27:56is an oil voucher
27:57then it will
27:58only be in
27:59petrol.
28:00If it is
28:01any other
28:02e-tree.
28:03The company
28:04which is
28:05very focused
28:06on acquiring
28:07customers' entire
28:08payment is
28:09Razorpay.
28:10So, why
28:11you think Razorpay
28:12will not be able
28:13to do it?
28:14to integrate
28:15banks
28:16with
28:17banks.
28:18Because we
28:19don't store
28:20money.
28:21We store
28:22money in
28:23bank account.
28:24So, you have a
28:25big motto
28:26that you are
28:27making a banking
28:28network.
28:29market.
28:30Until the product
28:31scale.
28:32Until someone
28:33says that
28:34we have to do it.
28:35So,
28:36the time of
28:37product to market
28:38is less.
28:39Generally speaking,
28:4080% of the cost
28:41is hotels
28:42and airlines.
28:43That problem
28:44is generally solved.
28:45So, we cannot create
28:46a delta there.
28:47The rest is
28:4820%.
28:49It is not so meaningful
28:50that you can capture
28:51value more.
28:52there.
28:53So, how many
28:54clients will need
28:55to build a meaningful
28:56company is what
28:57is going on in my
28:58mind.
28:59Overall, if we
29:00see the players
29:01in the market
29:02who are solving
29:03these problems.
29:04Like Zagal,
29:05its revenue of
29:061.300 crore.
29:07Sodexo,
29:08India's operation

29:10So, the market
29:11is not the problem
29:12today.
29:13Because the solution

29:16to use.
29:18What is your

29:52I don't know
29:53what's going on
29:54for this
29:55special
29:56where
29:57you have
29:58to put
29:59a
30:00piece of
30:01HR
30:02and
30:03admin.
30:04a
30:06team
30:07go to
30:08pay.
30:09I will say
30:10no to
30:11pay my
30:12money to
30:13you guys.
30:14Unfortunately,
30:15I'm out.
30:16All the best.
30:17CI stack
30:18which you have
30:19made a solution.
30:20How much money
30:22will you get out of
30:23this?
30:24How big the market
30:25is?
30:26How much commission
30:27will it be?
30:28What will it be?
30:29What will it be?
30:30It will be very difficult
30:31to figure out.
30:33But you guys
30:34are excited.
30:35The experience
30:36that you have
30:37can make it.
30:38so I'll make you an offer.
30:47So I'll make you an offer.
30:49you know,
30:50for 2%.
30:51And one thing,
30:52you already know,
30:53but if fleets
30:54are one of your biggest
30:55use cases,
30:56then Rapido
30:57or Zingbus
30:58or Chalo
30:59or,
31:00you know,
31:01I've got seven such companies
31:02in my portfolio.
31:03All doing extremely well.
31:04Make the right
31:05decision.
31:06It's been a lot of
31:07talking about Razorpay.
31:08I was the first investor
31:10in Razorpay.
31:11I think
31:12that what you're making
31:13here
31:14is a beautiful
31:15solution.
31:16And what happens
31:17is big companies
31:18that you can do.
31:19But that excellence
31:20comes with focus.
31:21If you're so smart
31:22founder,
31:23you'll only focus
31:24on this.
31:25If you're
31:26then you'll only
31:27make a big business
31:28to make it.
31:29And I think
31:30don't get a commission
31:31in the beginning.
31:32Just lower
31:34the bar
31:35on adoption
31:36to zero.
31:37Because
31:38once
31:39if you've lost
31:40this product
31:41you'll never leave.
31:42Absolutely.
31:43So I won't
31:44get upset
31:45but I'll give you
31:46a firm offer.
31:47And then
31:48I'll give you a lot
31:49of help.
31:50So 50 lakhs
31:51for 2% guys.
31:55We've seen
31:56your product
31:57capability.
31:58Will it be translated
31:59in business
32:00or not?
32:01We'll only save time.
32:04Second,
32:05when you grow
32:06100% competition
32:07will come.
32:08But if you can
32:09create a moot
32:10around it
32:11and build this business
32:12which is slightly more
32:13deeply integrated
32:14you might win
32:15this overall category.
32:16So I would want
32:17to take a bet.
32:18The bet is on you.
32:2350 like a 2%.
32:29Because the product
32:30is good.
32:31If you're solving a problem
32:32I face daily in my life
32:33so I think
32:34it will go.
32:35The competition will come
32:36and people will try
32:37to break you.
32:38That's in your perseverance
32:39instead.
32:41And I personally
32:42believe you're going
32:43to succeed.
32:44So I would like to make
32:45you an offer as well.
32:46My offer is the same
32:47for the rest of Sharks
32:48as well.
32:4950 lakhs for
32:502%.
32:54Sharks, we're very
32:55very happy that
32:56you all have
32:57resonated.
32:58We're happy to offer
32:592%.
33:00But 2%
33:0175 lakhs
33:02would be our
33:03counter offer.
33:04If you do it
33:05in 3 seconds
33:06done.
33:07I'm done.
33:0875 lakhs
33:092%.
33:10I'll match that.
33:11I'll match that.
33:122%
33:15for 75 lakhs
33:17I'll match.
33:21I'm giving 75
33:22for 2%.
33:23I'm also
33:24matching it.
33:25Come on,

33:33I've told you
33:34to decide
33:35what to do.

33:40with?
33:4175 lakhs
33:422%.
33:43I'll offer
33:4475 lakhs
33:45for 2%
33:46plus 1%
33:47advisory
33:48for Bupapi.
33:493%
33:50for 75 lakhs.
33:5175 lakhs.
33:52Yes.
33:53Okay.
33:54Okay.
33:59Okay.
34:00Okay.
34:01Congratulations,

34:03So happy.
34:05Thank you,
34:06Kanika Mohit.
34:07Not at all.
34:08We really respected.
34:09We really respected.
34:12That's what I think
34:13will happen.
34:16Congratulations,
34:17guys.
34:23Thank you so much.
34:24See you.
34:25Our business
34:26has a big angle
34:28of introductions.
34:30We thought Kunal

34:33have a big network
34:34for us.
34:35We will open
34:36more doors
34:37for us.
34:38It's a great
34:39pleasure.
34:40It's a great
34:41pleasure.
34:42Idea is a different
34:44thing.
34:45But they need
34:46confidence
34:47and conviction
34:48that the founders
34:49have these skills
34:50coming.
34:51Let's see.
34:52Welcome back to

35:45Imagine
35:46cool, misty
35:47mountains,
35:48quiet valleys,

36:03But when you look at
36:04India's beverage shelves,
36:05you don't find this
36:06taste.
36:07You find a lot of
36:08sugary, synthetic
36:09drinks.
36:10We're making local
36:12all-natural soda.
36:13A scalable farm-to-bottle

36:19using indigenous ingredients,
36:21real foods,

36:32that make Mizoram
36:33such a special place.
36:35We're not just building
36:36a brand,
36:37we're creating a movement.
36:38A movement to bring

36:49Sharks, join us.
36:52And together,
36:53let's give this region
36:55a spotlight
36:56it has always deserved.
36:58Kan Lohmeh.
36:59Felipe and Zomoye.
37:03Yeah.
37:04Welcome to Shark Tank
37:05Season 5.
37:07Thank you for having us.
37:08Beautiful Mizoram.
37:09Just one of the most
37:10gorgeous places in India
37:12and undiscovered,
37:13as you said.
37:14Please tell us about
37:15your journey.
37:16How did you get started?
37:17I'm a Mizor.
37:18I grew up in Mizoram
37:20and I went to the US
37:22for my undergrad
37:23and I happened to meet
37:24my husband as a freshman.
37:26We've been together
37:27ever since.
37:28Wow.
37:29That was back in 2001.
37:30Where did you go
37:31to the US to study?
37:32Information Systems
37:33in Rochester Institute
37:34of Technology.
37:35Then I went to grad school
37:37at Carnegie Mellon.
37:39Then I worked at Accenture.
37:41I was in consulting.
37:42Okay.
37:43Felipe?
37:44Originally I'm from
37:45North Carolina.
37:46It's a long way.
37:47But it took a long time
37:48to get to where
37:49we are standing now.
37:50I worked doing
37:51packaging design
37:52in New York City.
37:53My last gig was at
37:54Unilever doing
37:55packaging and
37:56product development.
37:57Why come back to Mizoram?
37:59My husband here
38:00is a very good brewer.
38:01He was an award winning
38:02brewer in New York
38:03and we wanted to
38:05do our own thing.
38:07So we took our savings
38:08and we built
38:09a microbrewery
38:10in Mizoram.
38:12Actually they're very good.
38:13I just had a couple.
38:14That's our hero product.
38:17Orange is our best seller.
38:18Really light.
38:19Very easy to drink.
38:21Not like that heavy sugary soda.
38:24Even the pomelo.
38:25It has a slight bitterness.
38:27Tastes just like a pomelo fruit.
38:29Yes.
38:30The design work is really nice.
38:32Like it's the brand work
38:33and the packaging.
38:34So it's designed by an artist
38:36named Neeti.
38:37She's an award winning artist.
38:39You didn't trust Philippe to design it?
38:41Since he's a packaging designer.
38:43He's a closeted drawer.
38:45He doesn't want to like
38:46you know
38:47display his art out.
38:48Your ginger ale is also pretty good.
38:50It's got a kick to it.
38:51Yes.
38:52Because it's made with GI tag ginger
38:53from Mizoram.
38:55Achai.
38:56You know what achai mean?
38:57No, no.
38:58Achai.
38:59Very good.
39:00Very good.
39:03We agree.
39:07So tell us Bhur about the product.
39:08We're using all natural ingredients.
39:10These are all sourced from farmers in Mizoram.
39:13Okay.
39:14This year we're going outside from Meghalaya,
39:17maybe Arunachal.
39:18Started off processing everything in house.
39:20Juicing with wooden presses.
39:23I'm in charge of production, the brewing,
39:25but really we're just trying to preserve the essence
39:29of these natural products.
39:31Wow.
39:32These are all hand pressed?
39:34No.
39:35Not all of it.
39:36So we started off very manual.
39:37We did all the juice processing in house.
39:40Now we're working with places that can juice it
39:43nearby these farms that are already established,
39:46that already have the infrastructure.
39:47Then we do all the brewing and bottling in house.
39:51Can it scale from there?
39:53You guys will have to move to some other city
39:55or do you think from Mizoram also it can become a brand?
39:58We have a very scalable model.
40:00Regionally we'll still process from Mizoram.
40:02Still very much true to our core
40:04because we're still going to be sourcing it from farmers
40:07and still doing that essence from Mizoram.
40:10But we'll do contract manufacturing in other areas.
40:13So when you compare this product to other juices in the market,
40:17do you think this has less of a sugar and less?
40:19Did I notice the calories also on an average 35-36 per 100 ml?
40:23We are very much conscientious of the sugar content.
40:26A lot of the sugar is also derived from the food itself.
40:29From the fruits, yeah.
40:30We're also trying to appeal to greater populations.
40:32So we have to have some sort of sugar.
40:34And in terms of other companies, the sugar content is a lot less.
40:38What is the price of each bottle?
40:40MRP today is at 120.
40:42Okay, I think this might be a good time to talk about what your numbers are today.
40:47Officially incorporated in 2023-2024,
40:51we started off with 19 lakhs in revenue,
40:5632 lakhs in spend.
40:59So it gave us a negative EBITDA of minus 13.
41:03Last year, we had a revenue of 44 lakhs and spending of 84 lakhs.
41:11And that gave us with an EBITDA of minus 40.
41:15This year, total revenue is 50.
41:18Expenses are at 45, giving us a positive EBITDA so far of 5 lakhs.
41:24The revenues went from only 44 lakhs to 50 lakhs run rate.
41:30So I presume this year will be what, 70-80 lakhs?
41:33We are looking at 120 lakhs.
41:36Yeah, 120 lakhs.
41:371.2 crores.
41:38Yeah.
41:39How did it suddenly go from minus 40 lakhs loss to 5 lakhs profit?
41:43Last year, we spent a big part of our expenditure on marketing.
41:48And also just honing in our distribution.
41:51And today, we are really cut back on that.
41:53Mainly because we ran out, you know, we're just focusing on our revenue.
41:57Were you going to say we ran out of money?
41:59We burned money.
42:01We raised 50 lakhs from friends and family last year.
42:06So you're saying once the distribution got established, the sales went up.
42:10And now you're not spending that money, which is why you become profitable.
42:13Yeah.
42:14Can you also give channel split now?
42:15Online and through our direct customers, 28%.
42:18Horeca, we have 26%.
42:21Retail at 14.
42:23Events at 20.
42:24Six through our corporate partners and six with distributors and et cetera.
42:31I'm not able to wrap my mind around this situation of you having built a 50 lakh business.
42:38Yeah.
42:39Maybe a crore.
42:40Hmm.
42:41And you want a 25 crore valuation without a specific plan to take it to 100 crores.
42:46How do you expect me to jump in with you?
42:47I will tell you that one of the reasons why we have such a low number is because we couldn't
42:53produce enough.
42:54We were operating from a small production facility.
42:57So we have this plan to get into like a bigger facility, contract manufacturing.
43:02That demand is there.
43:03We're doing events.
43:04So let's say the zero dollar festival, the zero one, we sold out in like two hours.
43:09So we, that demand is there for us.
43:12Look, I feel that this is a great product.
43:15I enjoyed it right now to create distribution in India.
43:19You're going to have to pick your batteries.
43:21You currently with a 50 lakh revenue have six distribution channels.
43:25So you are a little bit all over the place.
43:29If you want to test India, pick one channel.
43:32Most likely it's got to be quick commerce because your price point is so high.
43:36Yeah.
43:37So you should probably think about that.
43:38Yeah.
43:39And I think you can light that up.
43:40Good luck guys, but I'm out.
43:44Philippi and Zomoy, we all loved our branding.
43:47I think this concept of farm to bottle is also good.
43:50But I'll tell you what is not so damn good about your business.
43:54First is the price.
43:55India doesn't want to pay for soda for 120 rupees yet.
43:59Second problem I think is, you know, we always say founder market fit.
44:04I think there is another thing called investor founder fit.
44:07I'm a very aggressive guy in my business.
44:11I will always push you.
44:12Got a feeling that you will start hating me for that.
44:15And you know, for the push I will do, there will be.
44:17So I want you guys to love me, not hate me.
44:20So I'll stay out of your business.
44:24You have a fantastic product.
44:26I would love to drink it.
44:27This is something my customers would like all the time.
44:29Yeah.
44:30On our planes.
44:31So what is going wrong?
44:32That is distribution sales and marketing.
44:34And I think that drives me to my decision, which is, I think you're a great, you know, product makers maybe.
44:42But I don't know how, whether you have that drive to sell, to market, to, you know, distribute.
44:48Maybe get a co-founder who will take care of that piece.
44:52But I don't have to believe in both of you alone to take it forward, unfortunately.
44:55And for that reason, I'm out.
44:57Okay. Thank you.
44:58Great job with the product itself.
45:01The difference between a great product and a great business oftentimes is distribution.
45:08And the job of a founder is to not just figure out the product,
45:13but also figure out all these other aspects to make it into a thriving, pumping business.
45:23Bring some energy to it.
45:25Bring some energy to the distribution.
45:27Wish you all the very best.
45:28I'm out today.
45:32You guys are, you know, lovely couple.
45:34I like to work with founders with whom I know I can connect personally and professionally both.
45:41The challenges are, your numbers are nowhere.
45:46But I love this space.
45:47And this requires a lot of work that needs to be done on branding.
45:50It requires a lot of work on growth strategy.
45:53And I've built a small skincare brand.
45:55We have grown to more than 600-700 crores in 5-6 year period of time.
45:59So I know how to grow the business.
46:00Yeah.
46:01I also know how to build brand.
46:02But it will take a lot of my time.
