00:03:52You said it before, there won't be a door that's close to us.
00:04:01Putting all my trust in you, cause you, you'll always be true.
00:04:10Oh, I never could have known, said this would be.

00:04:33It's almost too good to be true.
00:04:37You're the perfect man for me.
00:04:41You're the perfect man for me.
00:04:44I love you and you.
00:04:49I love you.
00:04:58It's good.
00:04:59Oh, thank you.
00:05:00Okay, so, so, wow.
00:05:02My cheeks, since you walked in, my cheeks have been smiling the whole time.
00:05:07You light up the room, your energy is just like, it's the energy, right?
00:05:13It's the energy.
00:05:14It's, I don't even think she still knows how great it is.
00:05:17I mean, like there's still more.
00:05:18We didn't miss a note so good, so strong and in control of everything.
00:05:24Easily the strongest voice we've heard so far.
00:05:29Oh, wow.
00:05:30This is, you, you are meant to be here.
00:05:34Right now.
00:05:36Thank y'all.
00:05:37We pray for the standout.
00:05:41We pray for the one who's going to kind of put the pressure on everybody else.
00:05:45Set the curve.
00:05:46Yes.
00:05:47Who's going to leave the class?
00:05:48You understand me?
00:05:49Yes, sir.
00:05:50It's you.
00:05:52What American Idol is all about is in Walt Smith's Pine Bluff, Arkansas.
00:05:57Yes.
00:05:58That just grew up shaking the raptors of a church somewhere.
00:06:02Yes, sir.
00:06:03Why have we not seen you yet?
00:06:05Now is her time.
00:06:06God's timing.
00:06:07God's timing.
00:06:08Yes.
00:06:09Just singing is all around.
00:06:10What brings me peace?
00:06:11What brings me joy?
00:06:12And it'll just be wonderful, you know, taking this journey with you all.
00:06:16You want to get your family in here?
00:06:19I do.
00:06:20Okay.
00:06:21You know what to do.
00:06:22Good luck.
00:06:23Go in there.
00:06:24Let's hear it.
00:06:25All the way to Knoxville.
00:06:26Y'all better come on in here.
00:06:28Watch that step up.
00:06:30Watch that step right there.
00:06:32There you go.
00:06:33How do any of y'all get any sleep with that big voice in the household?
00:06:38We don't.
00:06:39Does anybody else sing?
00:06:40We all sing, but he sings.
00:06:41Are you kidding me?
00:06:42He sings?
00:06:43Step up with your sister.
00:06:44Come on up.
00:06:45Come on in here.
00:06:46Yeah.
00:06:47My favorite song that I like to hear her sing is Love by Keisha Cole.
00:06:50Would you mind doing a little of it?
00:06:52Just for fun.
00:06:53Oh, come on.
00:06:54Just play around.
00:06:55Go ahead.
00:06:56Go ahead.
00:06:57There you go.
00:06:58Come on.
00:06:59I used to think that I wasn't fine, Mom.
00:07:03And used to think that I wasn't wild enough.
00:07:07And I won't waste my time trying to figure out.
00:07:11Come on.
00:07:12How are you playing games?
00:07:13What's this all about?
00:07:15Oh, love.
00:07:17Woo!
00:07:18Never knew what I was missing.
00:07:24But I knew what sweet sir kissin' I found her.
00:07:30Oh.
00:07:32I love it!
00:07:33Wait.
00:07:34Wait.
00:07:35Wait.
00:07:36Wait.
00:07:37No.
00:07:38Now, Luke, do you know how hard it is what you just did?
00:07:41Do you know how hard it is?
00:07:42Oh, my goodness.
00:07:43That was great.
00:07:45I just want to tell you, it's a joy.
00:07:49Hit him with it, Lionel.
00:07:50Should I do it?
00:07:51Do it.
00:07:52Yes.
00:07:53All right.
00:07:54One, two, three.
00:07:55You're on the heart again, Luke.
00:07:56Woo!
00:07:57Woo!
00:07:58Oh, thank you.

00:08:03Yay!
00:08:04Yay!
00:08:05Yay!
00:08:06I worked very hard to be here today.
00:08:10I feel very proud.
00:08:12We got a golden chicken!
00:08:14We got a golden chicken!
00:08:16We got a golden chicken!
00:08:18Think about their church on Sundays.
00:08:20Their church must be rockin', boys.
00:08:23Woo!
00:08:24Every day of your life.
00:08:27Our own, McAl Instifull, has been granted a golden ticket to go to Hollywood.
00:08:41hope you do it for a holiday!
00:08:44And y'all know that she's gonna go represent us.
00:08:46Let's go!
00:08:47Now yo, let's show her how much we love her and how much we support her!
00:08:52You might be my favorite person that's walked through those doors. I think you're a racehorse, man
00:09:06I love what you do. You're crazy talent. It's crazy. Unbelievable. If we say no to him, what are we doing here?
00:09:14Yeah, yeah. Boom. I have an announcement. Yeah.
00:09:17It was just... You can hallow at the bad boys any day of the week. I don't think we've seen a star, star, star like you yet.
00:09:33I wonder, do we have any valedictorians in this class? Where did you rank in your class, Carrie?
00:09:38I was salutatorian. But the only reason I wasn't valedictorian is because two of the classes I needed
00:09:46were at the same time. So you could have been it. Yeah. And I remember talking to the counselor like,
00:09:52this isn't fair. What were you? I was not in the running. You didn't qualify.
00:09:59I was known back then as Lionel who? Then he knows in the class. Oh, God.
00:10:07How are you feeling? Good. I'm excited. I'm nervous. Happy to be here.
00:10:11Finally here. Oh, it says idle. Today's the day.
00:10:14Feels incredible to have my family here because they definitely shaped me into the young one I am
00:10:21today. And I don't know who I'd be without them. Love you so much. I've just been trying to think
00:10:27all the positive thoughts, manifest all the things. But the fact it's all today, I think it's kind of
00:10:31stressed me out a little. Oh, my God. I don't know why I'm so nervous. I'm sorry.
00:10:37Come on in. Hello. How are you? Good. Thanks. How are you guys doing?
00:10:41Oh, the sunshine yellow. We're doing fine. Tell us who you are. Where are you from?
00:10:45My name is Ruby Ray. I'm 16 years old and I'm from Pacific Palisades, California.
00:10:50What are you going to sing for us? I'm singing Vampire by Olivia Rodrigo.
00:10:53Very good. Let's hear it.
00:10:54Hate to give the satisfaction asking how you're doing now. How's the castle built off people
00:11:08you pretend to care about? Just what you wanted. Look at you, cool guy. You got it.
00:11:16I see the parties and the diamonds. Sometimes when I close my eyes. Six months of torture you
00:11:21sold some forbidden paradise. I loved you truly. Gotta laugh at this stupidity. I made some real
00:11:30big mistakes. You made the worst one look fine. I should have known it was strange. You only come
00:11:40out at night. I used to think I was smart. You made me look so naive the way you sold me for parts as you sunk your teeth into me.
00:11:55You're a blood sucker. Dream crusher. Bleeding me dry like a damn vampire.
00:12:02You said it was true love. Wouldn't I be hard? You can't love anyone cause I wouldn't mean you had a heart.
00:12:10I tried to help you out. I tried to help you out. Now I know that I can. Cause all you think is the kind of thing I'll never understand.
00:12:17The kind of thing I'll never understand.
00:12:24I made some real big mistakes. You made the worst one look fine. I should have known it was strange. You only come out at night.
00:12:36I used to think I was smart. I used to think I was smart. You made me look so naive the way you sold me for parts. You sunk your teeth into me.
00:12:51Wow.
00:12:53Blind sucker. Dream crusher. Bleeding me dry like a damn vampire.
00:13:05Yeah.
00:13:06Yeah.
00:13:07Yeah.
00:13:08Yeah.
00:13:09Yeah.
00:13:10Yeah.
00:13:11Yeah.
00:13:12I'm so happy for us. I'm so happy for you. Wow. That was right on the money.
00:13:29Thank you so much. If there were a thousand things on a list to check I think you checked them all.
00:13:34Yeah.
00:13:35I mean I don't think we've seen a star star star like you yet.
00:13:40Really really incredible. Your breath control is quite amazing. There was one point and you just kept going and I'm like when is she gonna breathe.
00:13:52I'm just curious to know what drove you to be here.
00:13:56Performing is my favorite thing ever and I'm also here really for my community Palisades. We need a win after such a hard year for everyone and I'm just yeah here singing for my family and my community.
00:14:08I love you.
00:14:09Where do you and recovery and帶 you to my community.
00:14:11I love your community.
00:14:13Where do we is?
00:14:14Various community.
00:14:15Where do we.
00:14:16Are you going to glory in your community.
00:14:17Where you want to win Jordan.
00:14:19Where do we.
00:14:20Where do we.
00:14:23Way to go! Way to go!
00:14:28Congratulations to our wonderful co-judge.
00:14:32Make our judging.
00:14:33You beat everybody.
00:14:34You slaved them.
00:14:35How does that make you feel?
00:14:37I like winning.
00:14:39Carrie Underwood is literally my favorite singer of all time since I was five and I saw her on American Idol.
00:14:45The performer that Adam got to is Carrie Underwood.
00:14:48I like to love her and if I see her and meet her, I might pass out.
00:14:55Hi.
00:14:56Hello.
00:14:57Who are you?
00:14:58My name is Cameron Palmer and I'm 25 and I'm from Florida but I've lived here for six years.
00:15:03So I actually dressed up as you for Halloween after you won Idol.
00:15:08I was five years old.
00:15:10My mom is awesome.
00:15:12She sent a photo to you and I got a little postcard back.
00:15:16It's dated December 2006.
00:15:18Wow.
00:15:18And I thought I'd bring it now, so.
00:15:20Hopefully it's good luck.
00:15:22Hopefully.
00:15:23I love you so much.
00:15:25What are you going to sing today?
00:15:27Home Sweet Home by Motley Crue.
00:15:29Wow.
00:15:29Wow.
00:15:30You're already making Carrie happy.
00:15:32What just happened?
00:15:33Hopefully.
00:15:40You know I'm a dreamer
00:15:44But my heart's of gold
00:15:47To run away high
00:15:50So when I come home low
00:15:53I'm on my way
00:15:56I'm on my way
00:16:00Oh sweet
00:16:01Tonight, tonight
00:16:07I'm on my way
00:16:10I'm on my way
00:16:14Oh sweet home
00:16:19All righty
00:16:21All righty
00:16:22Cameron, you're very comfortable
00:16:25In playing and singing
00:16:27And emoting
00:16:29Which is really refreshing
00:16:30Thank you
00:16:31You've got a nice voice
00:16:33But I just don't know
00:16:34If it's all the way there yet
00:16:35For Idol
00:16:36I'm trying to
00:16:37Place you in a setting
00:16:39Where seven songs in
00:16:41Is the house going to come down
00:16:43I'm still not quite clear
00:16:45On that element of it
00:16:48Yeah
00:16:48It's going to be a no
00:16:51But it's a real optimistic no
00:16:53Okay
00:16:53You have a good voice
00:16:55I would love to like
00:16:56Hear more fire in there
00:16:57It's just crazy
00:16:58I know, I know
00:17:00But if you can find that sass
00:17:02And push your voice
00:17:04Yeah
00:17:04I think you deserve a chance
00:17:06To do that
00:17:06Thank you
00:17:07So it's a yes for me
00:17:08Cool
00:17:09I'm going to work my butt off
00:17:11I'm a no

00:17:19Let's do it
00:17:20Okay
00:17:20That's so cool
00:17:22That you would ask
00:17:23Okay
00:17:26Can you start or do I have to start?
00:17:29Did y'all plan this?
00:17:31No!
00:17:33All right, I'll go
00:17:34Okay
00:17:34You know I'm a dreamer
00:17:40But my heart's a gold
00:17:44I had to run away high
00:17:48So I wouldn't come home
00:17:50I was hoping that the saying no part would get easier
00:17:54And it did not
00:17:59It's a no for me
00:18:01And it's
00:18:02I was like 15 years old
00:18:05And I had a chance
00:18:07And it didn't work out
00:18:08And if it had
00:18:09It would have been the worst thing
00:18:10That had ever happened to me
00:18:11So just
00:18:12Keep at it, girlfriend
00:18:14I don't want to BS these kids
00:18:17I don't want to fluff them
00:18:18You know
00:18:19I want to make sure they understand
00:18:21They're not ready yet
00:18:22I would really like to see you
00:18:24Spend more time working on your
00:18:26On your vocals

00:18:36You always just want to really reassure them
00:18:39That it's not their time yet
00:18:43I'm going to give you an encouraging no
00:18:45I want to push you
00:18:46And I want you to find some fire in there

00:19:19Thank you
00:19:20I'm on my way
00:19:22I'm on my way
00:19:25Oh, no

00:19:28Oh, God
00:19:29Luke, be careful
00:19:30Tonight, tonight
00:19:32Yeah
00:19:32Yeah

00:19:36You guys are heartless
00:19:38We are not heartless
00:19:40We are heartless
00:19:40I'm 1,000% going to keep singing
00:19:42It's my whole life
00:19:43It's what I believe I was put on this earth to do
00:19:45And I'm going to keep doing it
00:19:47All right
00:19:48I'm on my way
00:19:50I'm on my way
00:19:53Home sweet home
00:19:57My name is Michael Garner
00:20:01I'm from Palestine, Arkansas
00:20:03And I'm a sophomore in high school
00:20:04Hey, y'all
00:20:05What's up?
00:20:06All right
00:20:06Hey
00:20:07Gosh, how old are you?
00:20:08I'm 16 years old
00:20:10That's great
00:20:11When I found out I was going to be able to audition
00:20:14I started busting out crying
00:20:16Me and my mom
00:20:17My dad
00:20:18We're going to give you a shot
00:20:19Are you serious?
00:20:20Yes, I am serious
00:20:21I feel like this audition could definitely change my lives and my family's lives
00:20:26It's going to be great
00:20:30We all believe in me
00:20:32We're behind you
00:20:34We love you
00:20:35I've watched Idol with my family for a long time
00:20:39This has always been mine and their dream
00:20:42I always said that I was going to be on there someday
00:20:45And here I am
00:20:46But what do you do in Arkansas
00:20:48Other than music?
00:20:49You know, deer hunt, duck hunt
00:20:51The only thing there really is in Arkansas is football games and back roads, you know
00:20:54A little bit nervous going in there?
00:20:55Yeah
00:20:56I think so
00:20:56That's the biggest stage he's ever been on runs
00:20:58It's a big one
00:20:59Yeah
00:21:00What kind of music are you into?
00:21:01Country
00:21:02All right
00:21:03This man says what he says
00:21:04And he says what he says
00:21:06I like it
00:21:06Man, a few words
00:21:07What are you going to sing?
00:21:08I'm going to sing
00:21:08I'm still fine by the Red Clay Strays
00:21:10Perfect
00:21:11All right
00:21:11Let's hear it
00:21:13I'm on display
00:21:16I've lost my way
00:21:20Oh God, I pray
00:21:24Let this pass over
00:21:27I lost the note
00:21:31I rocked the ball
00:21:34I've even choked
00:21:38I lost my compulsion
00:21:42People here living it up
00:21:44I think they're blind
00:21:46I think they're out of their minds
00:21:51Like one of them has had this
00:21:56God's not giving me up
00:21:58No, I'm just fine
00:22:00It's just a matter of time
00:22:04Though I can't feel my sadness
00:22:10I know that it should be there
00:22:13But baby, I'm just too tired to care
00:22:16Cause I'm still fine
00:22:18All right
00:22:23Thank you
00:22:24Where's he going?
00:22:29Boom
00:22:30There you go
00:22:31Boom
00:22:33I wish you were like 20 years old
00:22:36I mean, I believe I'm ready
00:22:38You know, I'm willing to give y'all everything I got
00:22:40Yeah, you are
00:22:41You're really good
00:22:41You are
00:22:42Whatever happens today
00:22:43You're on the right path
00:22:45Yes, ma'am
00:22:46What you do with your voice
00:22:48Is definitely beyond 16
00:22:50Like, I feel like you have a control
00:22:51And a composure about yourself
00:22:53I think I'm gonna
00:22:55I'm gonna be wrestling over here
00:22:57I think your opening was just nerves
00:23:01Um, that look has not caught up to that matured voice
00:23:05I have to think about this while Luke is talking to you
00:23:09If we say no to him, what are we doing here?
00:23:12Yeah, yeah
00:23:12I know what you're saying
00:23:13In my opinion
00:23:14I mean, I know he's young
00:23:15But we're all saying that he sings great
00:23:19Oh, she's just playing guitar great
00:23:23And he's singing pretty daggone good
00:23:26So I look at you
00:23:28And I see my son
00:23:30And I would not throw him in the middle of it
00:23:35Where you are at 16
00:23:37So that's where I'm coming from
00:23:40To know for me
00:23:43What do we do
00:23:48With this young prodigy
00:23:49It's a yes for me
00:23:55Nice
00:23:56Tears
00:24:07Ticket
00:24:08Congratulations
00:24:12Come over here, young man
00:24:13Was that terrifying?
00:24:15I mean, playing in front of him
00:24:17We did it
00:24:18We're going to Hollywood week
00:24:20Let's go
00:24:20He's going to do Justin Bieber
00:24:22Dad scares the crap out of me
00:24:23Listen, listen, you're right
00:24:25And all I can think about
00:24:27Is Justin Timberlake
00:24:30You can't take the mama
00:24:35You can't take the mama out of me
00:24:37Since when do you have a heart
00:24:40And you're a mother?
00:24:42Miss Carrie, I just want to say
00:24:44I'm going to prove to you
00:24:47That I have what it takes
00:24:49It's been a good day
00:24:55Hello, hello
00:24:57Hey
00:24:58Tell us all about yourself
00:25:01My name is Sheldon Riley
00:25:03I'm 26 years old
00:25:04From Melbourne, Australia
00:25:06What you doing here?
00:25:10American Idol, huh?
00:25:11I feel crazy
00:25:12I wanted to do music
00:25:17Since I was a really young kid
00:25:18When I was maybe about 15 years old
00:25:21I sung at my school
00:25:22And I remember that first applause
00:25:25I was like, yeah
00:25:26This is what I want to do
00:25:27I love the way it made me feel
00:25:28I love the way that it made me feel noticed
00:25:30About 10 years ago
00:25:32I auditioned for a big TV show
00:25:35Back in Australia
00:25:36It was my big moment
00:25:38And I sung my song
00:25:41And they said it wasn't quite enough
00:25:44Just you singing, it's not enough
00:25:46That experience made me doubt myself
00:25:52It made me feel I had to play a character
00:25:54Just to be seen
00:25:55I kind of created this character
00:25:59That dressed up like crazy
00:26:01The most avant-garde, high-fashion
00:26:03Crystals and diamonds
00:26:04And it was the thing that made people see me
00:26:07And it just kind of took off
00:26:10I had opportunities like crazy
00:26:13Not just Australia
00:26:13But the entire world
00:26:14I've been on every TV show competition
00:26:20Known to men
00:26:21I've done it all
00:26:22And the art was just getting crazier
00:26:24And crazier and crazier
00:26:25It almost felt like an addiction
00:26:27To be the most memorable person in the room
00:26:31But I'd come home
00:26:33I'd take the mask off
00:26:35The makeup
00:26:36The accessories
00:26:36The everything
00:26:37And I would hate the person
00:26:39That I saw in the mirror
00:26:40Hated that version of me
00:26:42So I took two years off
00:26:48And remembered
00:26:51Why that little kid got up on stage
00:26:53That first time
00:26:54And this is the one show
00:26:55There's no smoke
00:26:57There's no mirrors
00:26:58No nothing
00:26:58And I said to myself
00:26:59If I was going to come back into music
00:27:00It would be here
00:27:02With just the piano
00:27:02And just me
00:27:03And if you don't like it
00:27:05You don't like it
00:27:06I don't ever know
00:27:07If anyone's ever really going to want
00:27:08What I have to give
00:27:09Without everything that I usually put on
00:27:12That's a big part of why I'm here
00:27:15Just to remind myself
00:27:17That my voice is enough
00:27:20Everybody's got their version
00:27:22Of what you just said
00:27:23You know
00:27:24Everybody's got their mask
00:27:25Whether it is something physical
00:27:27That they hide behind
00:27:28Or this certain identity
00:27:30That they've created for themselves
00:27:33And you know
00:27:34Then of course you do worry
00:27:35That if I wasn't that
00:27:37Would anyone still love me?
00:27:39Yeah
00:27:39You're very relatable
00:27:40Thank you
00:27:42What are you going to sing for us today?
00:27:44This is Brother by Matt Corby

00:29:45You're crazy talented
00:29:50Crazy unbelievable
00:29:51Thank you
00:29:52Don't know why you ever had to wear the mask
00:29:54Because you're an amazing looking person
00:29:56You being the loudest guy in the room
00:29:59You don't always have to be that
00:30:00Being the most dynamic singer in the room
00:30:02You don't have to be that
00:30:03It's okay to just peel a layer off
00:30:06But that was impressive
00:30:08Thank you
00:30:09You're an artist man
00:30:11And you're authentic

00:33:28And a round thing in your face
00:33:30You get sprung
00:33:33Wanna pull up tough
00:33:34Cause you know it is
00:33:36That butt was stuffed

00:36:32Cowboy Casanova
00:36:34Leaning up against the record machine
00:36:38Look at her face
00:36:40You've got to get some stink face going
00:36:42He's a gentleman in disguise
00:36:43A snake with blue eyes
00:36:45Oh my gosh

00:37:26I'm feeling exposed
00:37:29But I can't hide no more
00:37:32I can't hide
00:37:34As the sun shines on all of the glory
00:37:37My flaws don't look so bad at all
00:37:41What was I so afraid of?
00:37:45Every part of me is a vision
00:37:48Of a portrait of Mona
00:37:50Of Mona Lisa
00:37:52Every part of me is beautiful
00:37:59And I'll finally see
00:38:02I'm a work of art
00:38:04I'm a masterpiece
00:38:05Wow

00:38:39And smiley
00:38:40Thank you
00:38:40I feel like it needed maybe a little more
00:38:42Staying in character
00:38:44Just a little bit
00:38:45Okay
00:38:45But you have a fabulous voice
00:38:47Thank you

00:38:50Yeah, I mean, surprisingly
00:38:51You got a nice country tone to it
00:38:54But soulful country
00:38:55Yeah, soulful country
00:38:56And even on the song with the whole group
00:38:59You really had some great vocal moments too
00:39:02Okay, thank you

00:39:04I would like to hear more
00:39:06It's a yes for me
00:39:08Thank you
00:39:09Oh my gosh
00:39:10Yes

00:39:27Thank you
00:39:28Great support
00:39:29That was amazing
00:39:34Oh my gosh
00:39:34Can't really believe what just happened
00:39:36But it's okay
00:39:37Pinch me
00:39:38She's going to Hollywood week
00:39:44I couldn't stop looking at her baby knees
00:39:51Her what?
00:39:52Baby knees
00:39:53When you have like a face in your knees
00:39:56Oh really?
00:39:58Do you know baby knees?
00:39:59I've never heard of that
00:40:00I have baby knees
00:40:02Oh really?
00:40:02Right after Kate and William had their baby George
00:40:07My knees were in a magazine
00:40:10And it was like
00:40:11Prince George's face
00:40:13Is in Carrie Underwood's knees
00:40:15And I was like
00:40:16What the crap is going on
00:40:18With my knees?
00:40:19So I have baby faces
00:40:21In my knees
00:40:22And I can
00:40:23I can make them sing too
00:40:24You can make them sing?
00:40:25It was like
00:40:26I gotta check my knees now
00:40:31That's crazy
00:40:34Ah there we are
00:40:54Hello
00:40:54How you doing?
00:40:55Good how are you?
00:40:56Great
00:40:56What's your name?
00:40:57Hannah Harper
00:40:58Where are you from?
00:40:59Willow Springs, Missouri
00:41:00Where did you get that dress?
00:41:02This was homemade
00:41:03This doesn't scream yee haw
00:41:05I don't know what will
00:41:06What kind of music do you perform
00:41:09Listen to?
00:41:10I grew up doing bluegrass
00:41:11My family had a bluegrass gospel band
00:41:13Went church to church
00:41:14And sang at churches
00:41:16I grew up in a super musical family
00:41:19My dad worked at the lead mine for several years
00:41:22One evening he was just feeling like
00:41:24God was calling him to do something different with his life
00:41:26So in 2009 my parents quit their jobs
00:41:29And we bought a bus
00:41:29And we went on the road as a family band
00:41:31The tour bus was 40 foot long
00:41:35It was bright red
00:41:36And we lived on the bus for seven years
00:41:39We just would go coast to coast
00:41:41And play banjos
00:41:43And sing for the Lord
00:41:44It was a very unconventional upbringing
00:41:46But I literally wouldn't trade it for anything in the world
00:41:49We didn't come back into Missouri until 2016
00:42:00We settled back down
00:42:01And then I met my husband
00:42:02We got married
00:42:03And we found out we were pregnant with our first baby
00:42:06Like four months after we got married
00:42:07Every morning
00:42:08Oh, right in the noggin
00:42:10I'm sorry, buddy
00:42:11Then one turned to three really fast
00:42:15With three boys it comes a lot of chaos
00:42:16And a lot of fun
00:42:19Same old coffee cup
00:42:20What's your face?
00:42:21Cy, why are you standing up there?
00:42:24Same old house
00:42:25Same old stuff
00:42:27It's just hectic at all times
00:42:29Mom, eat some pizza paper
00:42:31Or is he trying to go in there?
00:42:34Let's eat some pizza
00:42:35And then you can go take a nap
00:42:36Do you want to go na-na?
00:42:37No!
00:42:37No!
00:42:38I'm trying out for the show
00:42:39Just because I want the opportunity
00:42:40To give the boys the same life that I had growing up
00:42:43In a bigger way, if possible
00:42:45To be able to sustain my family
00:42:47And do music full-time
00:42:48I have two boys
00:42:52They make things more interesting
00:42:54Oh, for sure
00:42:55Mine's been screaming all day
00:42:56Good, yay!
00:42:57That's great!
00:42:58Love it
00:42:59What are you going to sing for us today?
00:43:00I'm going to sing an original that I wrote
00:43:02Called String Cheese
00:43:03You're like my favorite person
00:43:05You're wearing homemade clothes
00:43:06You're singing songs called String Cheese
00:43:09What's the song about?
00:43:10My youngest is one
00:43:11And shortly after he was born
00:43:12I had postpartum depression
00:43:14And so I was sitting on my couch
00:43:15I said I wasn't going to cry
00:43:16I was sitting on my couch wallowing
00:43:20And you have boys, you know
00:43:24Everybody wants to touch you
00:43:26And I didn't want to be touched
00:43:28And my youngest son
00:43:30Like I was just having a pity party
00:43:32Praying that the Lord would calm my spirit
00:43:37And my son kept coming up to me
00:43:40He said, Mom, open this
00:43:41Mom, open this
00:43:42Open my cheese
00:43:42I'm like, just leave me alone with the dadgum cheese
00:43:44And I finally opened this cheese
00:43:46And when I did
00:43:47I realized that God had put me in that place
00:43:49And that where I was in my house
00:43:50Was the biggest ministry that I could ever have
00:43:52And being a mom
00:43:55So I gathered myself
00:43:58And I got up off the couch
00:43:59And I quit throwing a pity party
00:44:00And I realized that
00:44:01That was exactly what I wanted
00:44:02And I kind of kicked the postpartum depression in the butt
00:44:07And I said, I ain't doing it
00:44:08There you go
00:44:09So I wrote this song called String Cheese
00:44:11Do you need a second?
00:44:14I want to give you like
00:44:15Probably just give me one
00:44:16Yeah
00:44:16I can't cry and sing
00:44:19So I don't want to put you in that position
00:44:22Here
00:44:24Thank you so much
00:44:25Ready?
00:44:33I think so
00:44:44I warm my morning coffee up for the third time
00:44:51Missed Rachel on the TV
00:44:55With their favorite nursery rhyme
00:44:58Hot wheels and little people under my feet
00:45:03Baby's crying
00:45:05It's pure chaos
00:45:07It's pure chaos
00:45:07But I don't miss a beat
00:45:09Always knew that a nine to five
00:45:14Wouldn't suit me very good
00:45:16But my hours are extended
00:45:19That's just motherhood
00:45:22I never knew this is what my twenties would look like
00:45:29But they saved me before I had the chance to waste my life
00:45:34One day I'll be alone
00:45:37With a hot fresh cup of joe
00:45:41Wishing that someone would just drop me by
00:45:46And I'll sit and reminisce
00:45:50On times that I sure miss
00:45:53I've scattered toys and a baby on my hip
00:45:58I thought finding peace in the quiet
00:46:02To what I wanted
00:46:04But I'd do anything to go back to being needed
00:46:10To those days I want to cry
00:46:14Run away and hide
00:46:18But I'd worry about their every need
00:46:22When I'm overwhelmed and touched out
00:46:27And they come climbing up on the couch
00:46:30Saying mama
00:46:31Can you open my string cheeks
00:46:35I smile
00:46:37Because I know meeting their needs
00:46:40Fills my soul
00:46:42Being their mama
00:46:43Is who I'm meant to be
00:46:46That's great
00:46:53Do you have more questions?
00:46:54Oh
00:46:54My turn
00:46:56This pack is going quick
00:47:00Well that's about the most relatable song
00:47:06I think I've ever heard
00:47:07Hannah
00:47:10Great job
00:47:12Thank you
00:47:13Great job
00:47:14Just with that mountainous bluegrass
00:47:17Sound that you have in there
00:47:19I kept thinking like
00:47:20Casey Musgraves is in there
00:47:22I kept thinking
00:47:23Certainly Alison Krauss
00:47:26Like a little dolly
00:47:27A little dolly in there
00:47:28And gosh
00:47:29Even if we got you to lean in more on it
00:47:31Fill the room a little more
00:47:33You're going to be able to move some people
00:47:34A great song
00:47:36Way to really write the moment you're in
00:47:38Yeah
00:47:39I want you to use dolly as the example of two things
00:47:43One her storytelling ability
00:47:45And two she has the ability to tell that story
00:47:48And then give us a lift
00:47:50You've got the range
00:47:52I would have loved to have found you
00:47:54Just on one of those lines
00:47:55Just hold it for a minute
00:47:56I was going up
00:47:58But then I
00:47:59Cheekened out
00:48:00Because I was crying
00:48:00It was hard to come from a tear
00:48:02It is
00:48:03You might be my favorite person
00:48:04That's walked through those doors
00:48:06In the past three days
00:48:07You're my new best friend
00:48:08You're gorgeous
00:48:10Thank you
00:48:11Like you look famous already
00:48:13I just think you have
00:48:15Just a beautiful simplicity to your voice
00:48:18You're one that I'm going to think about
00:48:19When we leave here
00:48:20Like I wonder what song she's going to sing next
00:48:23And I feel like I'm going to be
00:48:24Just rooting for you
00:48:25I loved everything about everything
00:48:29You just did
00:48:29Thank you so much

00:48:40It's nice to meet you
00:48:41Nice to meet you too
00:48:42I got a ticket
00:48:43Hearing Carrie say that I was one of her favorite people
00:48:50That has walked through the doors
00:48:51I almost melted in my boots
00:48:53That's the biggest compliment I've ever received
00:48:54She was great
00:48:55Oh my goodness
00:48:57It means a lot to me
00:48:59To get up there and stand and represent other moms
00:49:01And let them know that they're not alone
00:49:04And let them know that they can still chase their dreams with their little people
00:49:07Some real juice on that one
00:49:10Unassuming sweet
00:49:12Perfectly moldable into stardom
00:49:16Can I help me put it on the fridge?
00:49:27Good job
00:49:31Have you seen the guy doing this with pins and stuff?
00:49:52Is that one of your TikToks?

00:53:22We're going to start some fights
00:53:23I think on the show
00:53:26She's definitely still her silly self
00:53:28She's a little crazy
00:53:30And I love it
00:53:31Ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding ding

00:53:56She is music
00:53:57I mean, she radiates music out of her pores
00:54:00Look about it
00:54:01It just explodes
00:54:03Yeah
00:54:03She bubbles in light
00:54:05Yeah

00:54:07That's my medium song
00:54:09You go in there and you crush it
00:54:11My lovely Carmelita
00:54:12Brittany, you could stop to the side
00:54:14And just sing Carmelita
00:54:15As she comes in
00:54:16And they don't know what this
00:54:17That's the entrance
00:54:17Oh, Carmelita

00:55:09And it's insane
00:55:11Well, if we don't have good things to say

00:55:14So, all right, Miss Brittany
00:55:16You can go right there on that X
00:55:18Be careful

00:55:20Give away the spotlight to the niece
00:55:22All right, let's hear it
00:55:24Let's hear it
00:55:24Okay
00:55:25Do you guys want this?
00:55:27Yes
00:55:27For good keeping?
00:55:28Oh, good keeping
00:55:28Sure, yes
00:55:29Let's do it, Miss Carmen
00:55:31Okay
00:55:32I woke up with a headache today
00:55:42Cause I've got a mortgage due
00:55:46And an empty bed to make
00:55:50Baby, I bet you're happy now
00:55:58Probably found just someone new
00:56:01Who's got his life all figured out
00:56:05Girl, I thought it was love
00:56:14Girl, I knew it was love
00:56:20I guess I didn't know
00:56:25What love was
00:56:31Good job
00:56:40You have a really pretty voice
00:56:43Like your range is really great
00:56:45You're hitting some high notes in there
00:56:47Yeah
00:56:48But it would be great
00:56:49If you could put some oomph in there
00:56:51Yeah
00:56:51We actually might have something to sing together
00:56:54Okay
00:56:54Oh
00:56:55Oh, cool
00:56:55Let's hear y'all do one
00:56:57Okay
00:56:57Let's see where you go
00:56:59Just sing
00:56:59Have fun like you're in the living room
00:57:01You got it
00:57:02Okay
00:57:03Let me be your star
00:57:07I just have to forget the hurt that came before
00:57:17Forget what used to be
00:57:21The past is on the cutting room floor
00:57:25The future is here with me
00:57:32It's all you've been needing
00:57:39It's all here and my heart's bleeding
00:57:42Let me be your star
00:57:46That was great
00:57:56Wow
00:57:56Oh, you sound so
00:58:00Yeah, I think
00:58:01Friends in the family
00:58:02I learned something
00:58:03It's very good
00:58:04It was very present there
00:58:06We just got to get you to cut loose a little bit
00:58:08I think the piano is forcing you to be very proper
00:58:11Oh, you should see me with a band
00:58:13Well, we got to get you to the band
00:58:16That's very true
00:58:17That's very true
00:58:18I think that the only way she's going to actually understand this thing called roughing up
00:58:24Is to put her in a brawl
00:58:26And the only way to put you in a brawl
00:58:27Is to say yes
00:58:29So you can go to the next level and meet the rest of this crazy class
00:58:33And you'll understand what this means
00:58:35Oh, yeah
00:58:36Okay
00:58:36So it's a yes for me
00:58:38I think your voice has definitely earned you a yes
00:58:42But I want to see some fire
00:58:45I can show it
00:58:46I kind of believe you can
00:58:47Is a yes
00:58:49Hey
00:58:49Let me see the glass
00:58:52Boom, boom, ding, ding, ding
00:58:54Not too hard, they're not too hard
00:58:55I need you to come get your golden ticket

00:59:25And they will see me roar
00:59:26I concur
00:59:27She didn't seem villainous
00:59:30No

00:59:33Thank you for coming
00:59:34Seriously, thank you

00:59:38Is that true?
00:59:39Is that real?
00:59:39I was always wondering
00:59:41I'll be afraid
00:59:50I'll help you carry on
00:59:55For it won't be long
00:59:59Till I'm gonna need somebody to lead on
01:00:06I just might have a problem
01:00:09You're welcome
01:00:09Then you understand

01:00:38Just jump out of that chair
01:00:39It made me happy
01:00:40She was like
01:00:41I was like
01:00:41Is she going to rush the artist?
01:00:43I think it is
01:00:44Because, you know
01:00:45You did your own thing with it
01:00:47It sounded fresh
01:00:48And I feel like
01:00:49It was such a smart song choice
01:00:53It was just
01:00:53Thank you
01:00:55You know, I'm telling you
01:00:56Familiarity is everything

01:01:02It's magnificent
01:01:05Thank you
01:01:06You took that song
01:01:07That the world has heard
01:01:09A million times
01:01:10And you made it
01:01:11Very authentically you
01:01:13Which
01:01:13That says you're an artist
01:01:15In your own mind
01:01:16In your own right
01:01:17I appreciate it
01:01:19Tonight, Shay
01:01:20I'm a yay
01:01:21I'm a yes

01:01:29Going to Hollywood Week
01:01:29Okay
01:01:30Thank you so much
01:01:31Can I shake your hands?
01:01:32Oh, please
01:01:33It was an absolute pleasure
01:01:34The standing ovation

01:01:37And
01:01:38Here he comes

01:01:47I'm going to Hollywood Week
01:01:49I appreciate you
01:01:56Cullen
01:01:56It means a world
01:01:57You know, I know
01:01:57You're going to do great
01:01:58You got it
01:01:59Love you, though
01:02:01Love you
01:02:02My name is Braden Rumfeldt
01:02:05I'm 22 years old
01:02:06And I'm from
01:02:07Murphy, North Carolina
01:02:08You just didn't
01:02:09Got it
01:02:10Ay
01:02:11Oh, no
01:02:14When I was young
01:02:15My life revolved
01:02:16Around baseball
01:02:17My twin brother
01:02:19Kellen and I
01:02:20Played sports
01:02:21Constantly
01:02:22Dad was dead set
01:02:24On us becoming
01:02:25College athletes
01:02:26Unfortunately
01:02:30Going into high school
01:02:31I was starting to have
01:02:32Knee pain
01:02:32In both of my legs
01:02:33Tell me how to be
01:02:35In this world
01:02:36Tell me how to be in this world
01:02:36Tell me how to be in this world
01:02:36Then I found out
01:02:37That I have a congenital issue
01:02:39My legs are naturally
01:02:42In the wrong position
01:02:43Tell me how to be in this world
01:02:45I needed surgery
01:02:46I needed two lower leg realignments
01:02:49That put a stop to the dreams
01:02:52Of becoming an athlete
01:02:53It was tough seeing everybody
01:02:57Be able to get to do
01:02:58What I wanted to do
01:03:00As I'm hurt
01:03:03It kind of hit me like
01:03:05Wait, I feel better
01:03:06When I am singing
01:03:07And my twin brother
01:03:09Kellen was there for me
01:03:10He was kind of like
01:03:12My voice of encouragement
01:03:14Growing up
01:03:17Till now
01:03:18I always felt it
01:03:19His talent
01:03:20Is music
01:03:21Is singing
01:03:22And I couldn't be more proud
01:03:24Of Brayden
01:03:25Because of everything
01:03:26That he's going through
01:03:27Where he's at now
01:03:28With pursuing his new dream
01:03:29He's my hero
01:03:30The only reason
01:03:33That I hadn't signed up
01:03:34For American Idol
01:03:35Was because I was scared
01:03:37This is my dream
01:03:39I didn't know
01:03:40That I would get
01:03:40Like a
01:03:41You know
01:03:41A chance
01:03:42Like this
01:03:42So this is
01:03:43This is really awesome
01:03:44What's up?
01:03:46Hey
01:03:47How's it going?
01:03:50I'm really good
01:03:50Who are you?
01:03:52My name's Brayden Rumfelt
01:03:53I'm 22 years old

01:04:03I've been singing
01:04:04Good deal
01:04:05Good deal
01:04:05What do you want to sing for us?
01:04:07Girl Crush
01:04:08By Little Big Town

01:04:12I got a girl crush
01:04:22I hate to admit it
01:04:25But I've got a hard rush
01:04:30It's slowing down
01:04:32Yeah, I want to taste her lips
01:04:37Yeah, cause they taste like you
01:04:41I want to drown myself
01:04:45In a bottle of her
01:04:47Her perfume
01:04:48I want her long blonde hair
01:04:52I want her magic touch
01:04:56Yeah, cause maybe then
01:05:00You'll want me just as much
01:05:04And I've got a girl crush
01:05:07Oh, I want to taste her lips
01:05:20I want her lips
01:05:22Yeah, cause they taste like you
01:05:26I want to drown myself
01:05:30In a bottle of her
01:05:33Her perfume
01:05:34You might want her alone down here.
01:05:39I want her magic touch.
01:05:42Yeah, cause maybe then you'd want me just as much.
01:05:51And I've got a girlfriend.
01:05:55Oh, and I've got a girlfriend.
01:06:04That's good.
01:06:09That's good.
01:06:10That's good.
01:06:11What you think, Carrie?
01:06:13I'm happy.
01:06:14I'm happy.
01:06:15Surprising.
01:06:15I don't know what I expected to come out of your mouth, but that wasn't it and made me happy.
01:06:21I feel like you are very nervous.
01:06:24I am.
01:06:25Gotta loosen up.
01:06:26Like I wanted to come out there and just like shake your arms and throw your vest across the room.
01:06:31And I think you're a racehorse, man.
01:06:33Don't you agree?
01:06:35I agree.
01:06:35You have a top end to your voice.
01:06:39It's not as high as Steve Perry, but the texture when you get up there is so sweet, man.
01:06:46Doesn't break.
01:06:47No, it does not.
01:06:48And we can wake the outside of you up to combine it with the inside of you.
01:06:54And what's coming out, we've got show business.
01:06:59Oh, he can sing, y'all.
01:07:01Oh, yeah, he can.
01:07:02Yes, he can.
01:07:02He's gonna do really good in this competition.
01:07:04He's gonna do really great.
01:07:04I think we can one, two, three it.
01:07:06Yeah.
01:07:06One, two, three.
01:07:08You're on Hollywood.

01:07:10Hollywood week.
01:07:11Let's get it.
01:07:12Hollywood week.
01:07:13It's gonna be fun.
01:07:14Y'all are great.
01:07:16I appreciate it.
01:07:17Good job.
01:07:18Gotta get a handshake on me too, man.
01:07:19Come on.
01:07:19Don't be fooling around.
01:07:20Yes, sir.
01:07:21Good job, twin, brother.
01:07:23Great job.
01:07:23Good seeing you, man.
01:07:24All right.
01:07:25Yeah, good seeing you.
01:07:25Way to go.
01:07:26All right.
01:07:27Bye.
01:07:28Bye.
01:07:29Awesome.
01:07:30High five.
01:07:30We're fired up.
01:07:31We're fired up.
01:07:33Let's go.
01:07:34Like, are we...
01:07:36Is this real?
01:07:36You know, I almost wanted to pinch myself.
01:07:38That was nice.
01:07:41Heck, they love it.
01:07:42Extended, extended ovation.
01:07:43With the struggles that I've had over the years, couldn't be happier.
01:07:48He is 80% of what he could be doing.
01:07:52He's got such potential.
01:07:55That was crazy to see how well he did.
01:08:08We've got a lot of memories together under our belt.
01:08:11And I wouldn't be here without his help.
01:08:14And I love this guy.
01:08:15He's the best.
01:08:16You're going to make me cry, dude.
01:08:18I'm going to Hollywood week.
01:08:19And I'm still in there.
01:08:28An old cowpoke went riding out a dark and windy day.
01:08:34A fawn ridge here rested as he went along his way.
01:08:37When all at once a mighty herd of red-eyed cows he saw.
01:08:42Flowing through those ragged skies.
01:08:45And up the cloudy draw.
01:08:49Yippie-eye, oh, yippie-eye.
01:08:54For this ghost rider's in the sky.
01:09:03Ah!
01:09:05Sorry.
01:09:06There you go.
01:09:07It happens.
01:09:08Oh.
01:09:09You know, Matthew.
01:09:10I mean, right now you're just doing sing-along.
01:09:13We're talking about lead singer, center stage, crowd screaming at you.
01:09:19I'm going to give you a passionate no because you're passionate about this business.
01:09:25I think that passion is going to take you a long way.
01:09:27And don't lose that spark, man.
01:09:30It's a no today, but I'm not going to stop working.
01:09:33I'm not going to give up.
01:09:37I'm going to make the best of this moment.
01:09:39You have been on some amazing platforms.
01:09:44You've been with national recording artists.
01:09:47But today is your day.
01:09:50Hi.
01:09:51Come on in.
01:09:53What's your name?
01:09:54My name is Tiana Roberts.
01:09:56What brings you to us today?
01:09:59I'm just ready to get myself out there, take the risk.
01:10:03That's just kind of been my motto for the year.
01:10:05No risk, no story.
01:10:06No risk, no story.
01:10:08What's the deal with that?
01:10:09Well, last year I had a miscarriage.
01:10:13That moment made me realize that life is short.
01:10:16And I could just think of all the things that I didn't do because I was too scared.
01:10:20I decided that the risk was worth the sacrifice.
01:10:23So, no risk, no story.
01:10:25So, here I am.
01:10:27I like that.
01:10:28Very good.
01:10:29Well, what are you going to be singing for us?
01:10:30I'm going to be singing a hymn called Pass Me Not.
01:10:33Okay.
01:10:34Okay.
01:10:38Pass me not, oh gentle Savior.
01:10:51Savior, hear my humble cry.
01:11:04Wow.
01:11:06While, while on others thou art falling.
01:11:15Savior, do, do not pass me, me by.
01:11:27I'm crying, Savior, oh Savior, why don't you hear my own voice?
01:11:45I'm crying, oh, while, while on others thou art calling, Savior, do, do not pass me, me by.
01:12:10Oh, oh, do, do not pass me, me by.
01:12:22I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I
01:12:52You're going to cover everything from Disney songs all the way across to every event that ever happened in life in the music world.
01:12:58You can handle it with that voice any day of the week.
01:13:00I love what you did.
01:13:01Thank you so much.
01:13:02Well, great big voice.
01:13:04You just sang within your means.
01:13:06When I saw you going for the big note, I was like, uh-oh, uh-oh, uh-oh, she got it.
01:13:12All right, she saved it for the end.
01:13:14We love our gospel singers, but just get ready to branch out and get ready to do a lot of stuff.
01:13:20You made everything just seem very effortless.
01:13:22Your small notes were beautiful and clear and crisp.
01:13:25You kept things small, and then it grew, and by the end of it, you were just soaring.
01:13:30You are a really talented vocalist.
01:13:33It is a massive yes for me.
01:13:37Yes.
01:13:38It's a yes for me.
01:13:40You got three yeses.
01:13:42Ah!
01:13:43Okay.
01:13:46Thank you so much.
01:13:48Your girl did it.
01:13:49Ah!
01:13:50I don't even have words to describe what it felt like for them to say, we've been waiting
01:14:01for you.
01:14:02Like, what?
01:14:03Yes!
01:14:04Star, star, star, star, star, star right here.
01:14:08She's our winner.
01:14:10She will always be our winner.
01:14:11I'm proud of you.
01:14:13I'm so proud of you.
01:14:14Thank you, mama.
01:14:15I got my team.
01:14:16Hey.
01:14:17I got you.
01:14:18You can tell me.
01:14:19You can tell me.
01:14:20You can tell me.
01:14:28Julian, do you remember this kid?
01:14:31Yes.
01:14:32I thought about him a lot.
01:14:33Really, huh?
01:14:35Ah!
01:14:36Hey, guys.
01:14:37Hi.
01:14:38How are y'all?
01:14:39We're doing great.
01:14:40How are you guys?
01:14:41We're so happy to see you.
01:14:42We're happy to be here.
01:14:43One, two, one, two, three, four.
01:14:50My name is Julian Kalel Almanzan.
01:14:53I'm from El Paso, Texas, and I'm 19 years old.
01:14:58Last year at Audition, I had no idea what to expect.
01:15:02Obviously, I was terrified.
01:15:04When I talk about it with my sister, we both say that we kind of just blacked out and gave
01:15:09a performance of our lives, I guess.
01:15:12I performed an original song called Surrender, which talks about the struggles of anxiety
01:15:32and depression.
01:15:32So I surrender.
01:15:35If it's worth it, I've waged, I'll raise a flag.
01:15:39But fate is in his hands.
01:15:41I felt like I was at your show just now.
01:15:43Are you serious?
01:15:44Yeah, I did.
01:15:45Wow.
01:15:46It played like a record.
01:15:47Just stars.
01:15:48He's a star.
01:15:49Just a straight up, straight up star.
01:15:53I'll be gone without a sound when my heart fails me and I'm not around.
01:15:58Yes.
01:15:59Yes.
01:16:00Hallelujah, yes.
01:16:01Hallelujah.
01:16:02Come here.
01:16:03The things that the judges told me, I felt like my life was changing in that moment.
01:16:08He may win this thing.
01:16:10He literally might win it.
01:16:12It was one of the greatest moments of my life.
01:16:16Oh, I surrender.
01:16:17I want Hollywood.
01:16:18Oh, I surrender.
01:16:23Unfortunately, though, I was not able to continue forward.
01:16:26There were shared concerns about my abilities to balance a journey like American Idol and my mental health.
01:16:39I was diagnosed with anxiety and depression my freshman year of high school.
01:16:43But I had been struggling with those feelings for a big part of my life.
01:16:48I mean, through even elementary and middle school.
01:16:51He came up to us and said, I am not okay.
01:16:54There's something happening with me.
01:16:55I mean, it's a knife to your chest because you're thinking, you know, what's going on?
01:17:02What's happening?
01:17:03And he said, I'm sad all the time.
01:17:07For me, anxiety is just like a big wave crashing on you and you just drown.
01:17:16I was questioning the value of my life.
01:17:18You have to look in the mirror and recognize that mental health professionals need to get involved.
01:17:27And that there's no shame in that.
01:17:36Music is my lifeline.
01:17:38It's what keeps me grounded.
01:17:39I had so much to smile about with my audition.
01:17:44And I just knew, like, I really regretted if I didn't give this another shot.
01:17:48I'm just hoping that whatever I'm doing just reflects the message of just not giving up.
01:17:55And most importantly, to not be defined by your struggles, but by your strengths.
01:17:59I choke up just thinking about it because I'm very lucky to be here.
01:18:05You know, life is a gift.
01:18:08For you to come back out here to try this, we are very happy and proud of you.
01:18:13We are so happy to be here.
01:18:14Thank you so much.
01:18:15So, what are you going to do for us?
01:18:17The song today is called Long Guitar.
01:18:18I wrote it at a very dark time in my life where I was at a crossroads of deciding whether or not to give up or to keep going.
01:18:25Huh.
01:18:26And found that, you know, it's as simple as just stay one more day.
01:18:31That's the message.
01:18:32It's been rough.
01:18:33It's, we've had some rough years.
01:18:35And this song in particular, it's, um, it's suicide prevention, basically.
01:18:48What do you see when you look at me?
01:18:53The blessings that I'm letting go, Lord, you forgive so easily.
01:18:59It's getting harder to find peace.
01:19:04Get the chance to grow old, but I'm not the man that I should.
01:19:09Never felt travel, helling back every night.
01:19:14Too far gone for prayer.
01:19:15Just a boy afraid to die.
01:19:23Oh, heartache, stare, words unspoken, the burden of my flaws.
01:19:29An empty chair, a family broken, pain is all I cause.
01:19:34I should stay.
01:19:36I should stay.
01:19:39You walk in daydream, thoughts unholy, damn near giving up.
01:19:44Hug your mama till they're just enough to see that old sun rise.
01:19:50I should stay.
01:19:54I should stay.
01:19:55I should stay.
01:19:58Oh, I'll stitch bones and learn to love these marks along the way.
01:20:03Oh, I should stay.
01:20:05Lord, let me stay.
01:20:07I got too much to give.
01:20:10I got I love you to say.
01:20:13Don't want to make my old man cry.
01:20:16Leave my mama screaming why.
01:20:18Guess I'm in this bleeding heart.
01:20:21Light head in my way.
01:20:24To the boy alone in the suffering.
01:20:27Thinking no one understands.
01:20:30If it's strength that you need, you don't have to be a man.
01:20:42Awesome.
01:20:44Ronald, what you think?
01:20:45Welcome back.
01:20:46Welcome back.
01:20:48I'm going to leave you with some words that I keep repeating over and over again, and I'm
01:20:53going to pass it on to you.
01:20:55You were born enough.
01:20:56I haven't seen too many years.
01:20:58Come on, William.
01:20:59Come on.
01:21:00My girl.
01:21:00But I have feared and I have loved.
01:21:03Everything about you is just honest, and you organize your thoughts and your feelings
01:21:09into song in a way that comes across so real.
01:21:14That is something that's needed.
01:21:16Very much.
01:21:17I agree.
01:21:17Yeah, man, you got the magic.
01:21:24I think that you're incredible.
01:21:28I think you have all the skills and tools of a great singer.
01:21:32So glad you're back, and we'll just have fun with this thing.
01:21:35How about that?
01:21:35Absolutely.
01:21:41What do you think, Lionel?
01:21:44It's a yes for me.
01:21:46Yes for me.
01:21:47Yes for me.
01:21:49Let's go.
01:21:51Thank you guys.
01:21:52Thank you so much.
01:21:53Welcome to Hollywood.
01:21:54We're back.
01:21:54We're back.
01:21:54We're back.
01:21:55My parents.
01:21:56So much.
01:21:57You did it, Nico.
01:21:58Carissa.
01:21:59Carissa.
01:22:02You did it, Nico.
01:22:03Congratulations.
01:22:05We made it!
01:22:06We made it!
01:22:07I just felt understood.
01:22:09I felt seen for the artist that I try to be.
01:22:12I want to spread my message.
01:22:15You are loved, and everyone is born enough.
01:22:17Everyone is, in fact, born enough.
01:22:19You're one of my absolute favorites.
01:22:28God bless you with an instrument.
01:22:30The first time I've had full body chills the whole time.
01:22:34Oh my God!
01:22:35Oh my God!
01:22:37You can't learn what you just did.
01:22:39You are a star.
01:22:41Oh my God!
01:22:43No way!
01:22:45Hello, anybody want to sing for us?
01:22:47Oh man, it's on Tuesday.
01:22:48Sorry.
01:22:49You're going to Hollywood week.
01:22:50Yes!
01:22:51Yes!
01:22:51You were born the same.
