00:00The European Commission outlined an action plan against cyberbullying at the European Parliament on Tuesday,
00:08aimed at helping young victims of online bullying to safely report abuse and receive help.
00:14Part of the plan is the rollout of an EU-wide app that would allow children to confidentially report bullying to a national helpline,
00:21safely store and send evidence, and receive help from law enforcement, education or child protection services.
00:28We want to make sure that children and youth across the EU, that they are all equally protected and empowered.
00:35Based on shared understanding of what cyberbullying is, we call for all member states to develop coherent national cyberbullying policies.
00:44We are making sure that all our relevant tools are fit to combat cyberbullying,
00:49and that we make use of the latest technologies when addressing it.
00:53Beyond the app proposal, the action plan calls for targeted enforcement of existing EU laws to help curb the phenomenon.
01:01That includes toughening rules under the Digital Services Act to protect minors from harmful content,
01:06and backing targeted enforcement of its AI Act to help combat the use of deepfakes for bullying.
01:12Thank you very much.
