00:00All the ongoing attack on Gaza, all the victims of this dehumanization. How do we resist?
00:06An open letter condemning Jonathan Glaser's zone of interest Oscars acceptance speech has
00:11been signed by more than 450 Jewish Hollywood professionals. The group denounced Glaser's
00:16controversial comments made when accepting the Academy Award for Best International Film on
00:21March 10th. The letter reads in part, we refute our Jewishness being hijacked for the purpose of
00:26drawing a moral equivalence between a Nazi regime that sought to exterminate a race of people
00:31and an Israeli nation that seeks to avert its own extermination. In his acceptance speech of the
00:362024 Oscars, Glaser read from a prepared speech to thank his partners and then made a statement
00:42addressing the current Israel-Gaza conflict. Right now we stand here as men who refute their
00:47Jewishness and the Holocaust being hijacked by an occupation which has led to conflict
00:51for so many innocent people. He continued, whether the victims of October 7th in Israel
00:56or the ongoing attack on Gaza, all the victims of this dehumanization, how do we resist?
01:01The open letter this week continued, the use of words like occupation to describe an indigenous
01:06Jewish people defending a homeland that dates back thousands of years and has been recognized
01:11as a state by the United Nations distorts history. To read the full open letter, head to THR.com.
